There was a saying you can "get anything on Joseph avenue". Joseph avenue in it's heyday was predominantly of Jewish settlers from eastern and southern Europe. The community thrived. But through the years, attrition, cramped conditions, people started moving out of the city, many to the eastern suburbs, many to the Brighton area.Just a few blocks south of the Temple was where the riots of the 60's started. Today Temple B'Nai Israel sets vacant, in rough condition. However it has been named a historical site and is being considered through funds to be redeveloped as a museum or arts center.

Nowhere else could you find a more wonderful, caring, warm group of people! Beth David is also the perfect size; it's not at all anonymous (quite the contrary), but it has enough of a critical mass. We were very saddened four years ago to learn of Rabbi Skopitz's death, but Temple Beth David remains strong. We miss the special camaraderie....

Only been here twice. Both of trips from out of sate to attend events stationed here…read more The services were really good. In both Hebrew and English. Very inclusive. They explained many parts and had interpretative parts during the service. The entrance lobby is nice. Has some nice silver pieces on display and nice bathrooms at that level. The main level has a large area where food is served after the service. Nice area. Very happen to attend whenever I am in the area.
