Within walking distance of Waikiki hotels and steps away from the beach. There is also availability in the adjacent Ala Moana hotel. I especially loved how inclusive the services are and to see members of the tribe from literally all over the world, Ashkenazi and Sfardi, all gathered together davening and sharing shabbos with such joy. Thank you Chabad of Hawaii for making such a shabbos possible for us (and for so many others) while away from home. Now about the food specifically! The buffet of salads and appetizers included American and Israeli favorites, some with a Hawaiian touch. Gefilteh fish, cholent, baked chicken, roasted potatoes and vegetables. Desserts included cakes and cookies, with a favorite Hawaiian cream pie... (pause) daydreaming about it and losing my train of thought. It was a huge splendid kosher feast in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Not easy to do on the mainland, so we truly appreciate it even more knowing what it takes. We have spent shabbos here many times, both while stationed here and when visiting. This was another fabulous experience that was one of the highlights of our trip to Hawaii. No matter what time of year we've been here, the shabbos services and meals, shiurim during the week and on shabbos, and community celebrations for chagim are all memorable and meaningful. Looking forward to our next trip! Mahalo! Side note: I'm was shocked and ashamed of those who posted two previous reviews. I sincerely hope visitors to Oahu don't make their shabbos plans based on those two reviews.

After watching the first sunrise of the year, I make my way here to begin the year with gratitude, reflection, and hope for what lies ahead. Each visit, I receive omamori for traffic safety and good fortune, along with a lucky arrow for protection and continued blessings throughout the year. The shrine feels especially meaningful on New Year's Day, filled with a quiet sense of reverence mixed with shared optimism from the community. Even with the crowds, the experience remains calm and grounding. If you plan to visit on New Year's Day, it's best to arrive early, as it can become quite busy later in the day. It's a meaningful and time-honored way to welcome the New Year and carry on a tradition that connects reflection, intention, and good fortune.

明けましておめでとうございます!…read more Happy New Year as we welcome the year of the horse it's 2026 and I couldn't think of a better place to be right as it hits midnight as this temple has been a long tradition to start the year right. As this shrine dresses up for the occasion many gather here for various reasons whether it's to pray for good fortune, health and happiness, you start with a purification wash first to then make your way up to right the priests and wring the giant bell to follow with the ritual for your offering and prayer which they will help you and once done make your way down for your amazake and purchase your omamori after you rid of your previous years charms. It feels great to start the year right and be grateful for what I've received and to pray for a fabulous year ahead. どうもありがとうございます!m(_ _)m

I'm currently here for a choir show being put on by the UH Chamber Singers & Chamber Music Hawaii…read more While the music is beautiful, I am appalled by the check in staff. I was told by the Chamber Singer conductor that students would be able to get in for free with their student ID. Otherwise the cost to watch is $30. There was no problem getting in, however ONE woman that was in charge of checking people in was very rude to me from the second she realized my cousin and I were students and not "paying customers". We were put on a student wait list and were told that the people with will-call tickets would be seated first and then she would call us up if there were still seats available. No problem, I understand. More people began to show up and were purchasing tickets and were allowed to go right in. I noticed that they had sold multiple tickets and were allowing people to go in, but weren't letting us in yet. When I asked the woman why this was happening she rudely told me "it's called "revenue". You aren't purchasing tickets so you need to wait. This is how we do it for every show here. If you're on a student waitlist, you need to wait". I walked away and then when she called out our names, she was like "oh, well you two were the only students and we have extra tickets, so I'm going to let you in". I understand it's all about money, but this woman was rude to us from the get-go. Had she told us in the beginning when we put our names down that it would be a situation where people purchasing tickets could go in first and then she would let us in, I would've had no problem. But she neglected to tell us that and instead was just rude to us, probably because we were students and not paying. Honestly though, we were the only students who attended and I'm sorry but $60 doesn't make a big difference when there's 170 other paying customers.

I will continue to keep them in prayer. 25 is so young I myself worked in cardiology for a couple years and now have a brother and mom who have diabetes. No one knew that when I walked through the doors I had my own story. You see I lost my only child age 24 in a blink of an eye to a tragic accident. March 5th was exactly 5 years.
