After doing a hip hop dance class (on concrete with LOTS of jumping in crappy shoes with no arch support), I came to her on crutches with severe foot pain, which she diagnosed as plantar fasciitis. She wrapped my foot to provide support and pain relief...not just once, multiple times. She even came in on a friday to re-wrap it so that I was not in pain over the weekend. She recommended some great arch supports for me and I have not had that extreme of pain since. Dr. Jen rocks! So glad I found her! :)

She took some samples, tested the bejeezus out of it but we couldn't figure it out. She had me try an at home treatment and after 6 months I decided to go back in since the home treatment didn't help. The next step (which was a big one for me) was removing the nail. Well, she did a damn fine job. I felt nothing and the toe nail healed up perfectly. Fast forward a year and it feels like an ingrown is happening. I head back in, she takes a look, agrees, and I walk out 15 min later with a small bandage over the toe. Three weeks later and it's totally healed. No more pain, looks fantastic. Dr Strauser has been so helpful and super responsive. She hands out a number to call / text if anything goes wrong after a procedure and has a great sense of humor to boot.

We showed up for the appointment and a bitchy bleach-blonde woman said, "You DON'T have an appointment today. We DON'T have a doctor here today." She didn't ask my name or check or say, "Sorry, seems to be some mistake" or offer to help in any way. Back home, I called and said that my appointment schedule in my computer confirmed that I had an appointment and she said, "You actually have an appointment in ALAMEDA today." She said I called the Alameda number. I called a 510-area number. No one said the office was the Alameda one or that the podiatrists had an Alameda office. I cancelled for us both and, without saying goodbye, she hung up on me. All of you who live in Berkeley know it would, on a weekday, be sometimes up to an hour drive to Alameda and an hour back. No one in their right mind would drive there willingly. There ARE other podiatrists. As others have complained, the office staff at this office are unfriendly, unhelpful and make appointments here not worth the aggravation. A little, even a little, politeness would have gone a long way.

Update as of September 17, 2025…read more I already shared my first review on Google, but since they only allow one per account, I didn't want to delete it just to post again. So I'm sharing this update here on Yelp instead. I will only use my first name and it's Sonja. I've been seeing Dr. Reed Coast for several months now for my foot injury, and what really stands out about him is how warm, gentle, and kind he is. The way he communicates with you as a patient, the way he evaluates you, and the way he explains things so clearly, it all helps you feel confident about making the best decision for your care. He's very personable, and that makes a huge difference when you're in constant pain and dealing with different doctors. In the past, I've seen other providers for the same injury, and I just didn't feel like I got the same level of care. But with Dr. Coast, I actually look forward to my visits because I know he's going to be hands-on and really present. I appreciate that so much. When he walks into the room, you never feel rushed. He doesn't make you feel like he's just trying to get through your appointment and move on to the next person. He sits with you, listens with intention, and takes the time to explain your treatment plan in a way that makes sense. He lays out your options and helps you understand what's going on with your injury. Every time I leave his office, I feel grateful that he's my doctor. Dr. Coast's staff is truly a reflection of the care he provides. From the moment you check in to the time you're brought into the room, every one of those ladies is kind, professional, and welcoming. They always greet you with a smile, and that makes all the difference. It sets the tone for the visit and helps you feel at ease, even when you're dealing with pain or just not feeling your best. I always enjoy chatting with them during my appointments. They're easy to talk to, genuinely sweet, and their positive energy makes the whole experience better. It's rare to find a team that's both efficient and caring, and I really appreciate that.

Before coming to Pro+Kinetix, I waited longer than I should have--probably a few months. Like a lot…read moreof active people, I thought I could just "run through it" and that it would resolve on its own. The main obstacle was honestly a mix of stubbornness and not wanting to slow down my training. I came in with a sports hernia and ongoing hip flexor issues. At my baseline, I was running about 60 miles a week and playing soccer twice weekly. By the time I sought help, I was down to ~20 miles a week and had completely stopped playing soccer. It was frustrating and honestly a bit concerning given how central activity is to my routine. Before PT, I tried the usual things--rest, stretching, some generic strengthening exercises, and modifying my running--but nothing really addressed the root problem. I'd improve slightly and then regress again. I chose Pro+Kinetix because of their reputation for working with athletes and their focus on performance-based rehab rather than just symptom management. I wanted someone who understood not just how to get me out of pain, but how to get me back to a high level of activity. Working with Dr. Jose Gonzalez Mejia was a game changer. What stood out was the specificity--everything was tailored: targeted strength work, movement pattern corrections, and a very intentional, progressive return-to-load plan. This wasn't a cookie-cutter program. He also did a great job explaining the why behind each exercise, which made it easier to stay consistent and confident in the process. As a patient, the experience was extremely professional and focused. Sessions were efficient, hands-on, and goal-oriented. It felt like a true partnership in getting back to performance, not just passive treatment. The impact has been huge. I'm now back up to ~50 miles per week and have started playing soccer again--something that felt pretty far off when I first came in. More importantly, I feel stronger and more resilient than before the injury, with a much better understanding of how to manage load and prevent recurrence.

I can't recommend Pro+Kinetix Physical Therapy, and specifically Dr. Lorraine, enough. After a hip…read moreinjury, I worked with Dr. Lorraine over 10-15 sessions and saw dramatic improvements in my strength and mobility, ultimately returning to all of my pre-injury athletic hobbies without pain. What sets Pro+Kinetix apart: you get a full hour with your therapist (not the rushed 30-minute sessions I've experienced elsewhere), and you always work with the same person. That consistency made a world of difference. Dr. Lorraine not only built a structured, effective recovery plan, but she genuinely listened to my concerns and gave me the confidence that I'd get back to my normal, and I did. She also sent me home with a toolkit for both ongoing hip strength/mobility maintenance and to manage any future flareups, should they occur. My insurance didn't cover the cost, but I can say without hesitation that it was worth every penny.

He did not express any hesitation in reaching this diagnosis. He assured me there was no cause for alarm. He prescribed a salicylic acid patch to dissolve the wart and scheduled a follow-up appointment for four months later. One month after my visit with Dr. Hilger, the growth on my foot did not look good. I went to a podiatrist. She examined my foot and told me I had an infected ulcer. After draining and bandaging the ulcer, the podiatrist had me go directly to the emergency room, where I was given an IV antibiotic and pills for a seven-day course of treatment. The podiatrist feared that the infection may have reached the bone. (Fortunately, x-rays showed that it hadn't.) I feel that an experienced dermatologist like Dr. Hilger should not have made this mistake. Foot ulcers are always a danger to watch out for in diabetics like myself. If I hadn't gone to the podiatrist, the infection could have become much more serious. Three months ago, I sent Dr. Hilger a letter to inform him of his misdiagnosis. I have not heard back from him and don't expect that I ever will.
