To the untrained designer clothes eye, surely it's just worth going to Topman and getting something slightly edgy from there? Everything in Cecil Gee is just a teensy, tiny bit chavvy for my own personal taste, and that really is my own taste. The only clothes in there I liked were some checked shirts that were really well made. You know how really expensive designer clothes just feel a bit better? Well, they did. They were still too expensive for me though. I guess that's the whole point.

The price is not an issue when regarding clothes and it is each to thier own. The shop is warm and friendly, with a mix of brand and prices for everyone. T-shirts at £80 and some as low as £27. The thing I like about this little shop is that there is something for everyone, being a young professional wearing a Boss suit or a young college lad wearing Franklin and Marshall. All in all its a nice little shop that offers a little bit of everything for anyone who walks off the street.

Some of the bags are literally as good as new. The older the collection the cheaper the price usually (unless it's Chanel...of course). I'm not bothered about the 'latest season' look, I look for quality, design and craftsmanship so this place is heaven for me. They also buy directly from customers. All bags are checked for authenticity so you can rest assured you're buying a genuine item. The staff couldn't be nicer, and they're not pretentious or overbearing so I often just go in for a browse without any pressure to buy. Golden purchase - a hand embroided, leather Dior bag. As good as new. Originally sold for $1700, bought for £90. Can I get a hallelujaH?!

I wouldn't usually use the word shizzle but it is entirely appropriate in the context of Obscure Clothing. Stocking some great accessories as well and hundreds of Tees and shirts, Obscure Clothing is the perfect place to go when you're looking for something...well...obscure.

Not that I have no faith in those 50+ daredevils, but it is unfair to deny that younger generations have nothing to bring home from PE. The linen dress in question was purchased in Phase Eight's boutique in King St, and I have enjoyed my visit. I thought that the floor was planned rather nicely, while the fitting rooms are located on the podium. No matter how popular this boutique is, with such space planning there is no chance customers can feel crowded. Phase Eight is by no means cheap, but it finds a good balance between price and quality. I would definitely buy clothes there, although I am not so sure about either footwear or accessories. Not that they are bad, but they don't have the kind of edge I am looking for.

Besides that, they hav some good and lively collection of upbeat, high street fashion without completely burning your pockets! Yes, I know posh street houses this store, but trust me, it's great! After a great stock of '9 to 5', they're 'after 5' collection has some head-turning wrap dresses and accessories which can make any woman sizzle! Their Spring collection is also very flowery and bright. Go have a look and this one's definitely something alot of women would give the heads up for!

The ground floor was actually pretty organized this go round but it's really hard to find an employee to assist. One issue is possible because the employees look just like a regular shopper so you are unsure who to ask except the cash register individuals. The escalator going to the second floor was broken, so you will have to walk unless you can get on their elevator. On the second floor they also have self checkout and exchange and return registers. When I was asking an employee a question that was at the exchange/return counter, she was really on edge which I am unsure why. She finally just dismissed me and told me to go to another counter to check out since the self checkout machines cause so many issues. All I needed was an employee code to proceed with taking the locks off. Went up to floor three and the cash register employee that assisted me was so sweet and helpful! Normally I love Zara's for odd and end pieces but this one could work on customer service and working with finding a way to help the layout more shopper friendly.

Sadly, I don't have a body like Penelope Cruz and nothing - I repeat NOTHING - in Zara ever fits me!

My mum and sister have often visited the Long Tall Sally in York and remarked on how much bigger the Manchester branch is. The staff are unbelievably lovely and kind - even if you're a shortarse, just go try something on and parade around for a bit as they will shower you with compliments!* The clothes here are expensive by my pauper standards, but they seem good quality and there is a good mix of practical basics and stylish fashion items - I think this shop is a bit of a lifesaver for people who are just too long and tall for high street shops. The store itself is clean and well laid out. * I don't actually recommend you do this - but wouldn't it be lovely if there was somewhere you could go specifically to get compliments? One can dream...

But things have improved dramatically over the last four or five years. The clothes have improved in quality, there is a fantastic selection of basics through to fashion items, items for the beach through to evening wear, items for the young and old. I now have regular trips to the Manchester store. It is always clean and the clothes are well presented. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The changing rooms are spacious with a bench set at an appropriate height for those of us who are blessed with 34 inch or longer legs! What more could a tall girl ask for!

They had a small opening event with local bloggers / 'VIPs' but also managed to continue the feeling of a launch through their first day, with some smartly dressed waiters handing out drinks in paper cups while people took their first look at the store. I was also greeted by the friendliest front of house / security I think I've ever met, which was a nice surprise! The items are categorised well and everything feels like it has a place, including shoes upstairs and a beauty / homeware section downstairs with some perfume and candles I can already tell will be a regular feature in any future present buying. Although they seem to specialise in light colours and fabrics, dig around a little and you'll find some beautiful metallics and items more suited to the Manchester weather! If Evelyn's is the most Instagrammable restaurant in the city, & Other Stories is the same for fashion. Excellent natural light and desirable products; hopefully they'll stick around for a while.
