I went to local Jiffy Lube franchises for oil changes at around 67k and 74k miles. Both times they…read moretold me I was supposed to have had my transmission fluid changed at 60k miles and that it was very dirty -- implying that it looks like it wasn't done and I should definitely get it done. I had my 60k mile service done at the dealership, so the transmission fluid should have been changed then so I was suspicious, of course. Friends of mine know the owner of Joey's so I figured I'd try it out. I set up my service appointment for an oil change, explained my concern regarding the transmission fluid, also expressed some concern regarding my timing belt. He looked at both during the appointment and told me that the fluid definitely wasn't dirty enough to worry about changing yet; my timing belt looked fine and based on the mileage was early for a change anyway. He recommended that the next time I get my oil changed -- if I went to a different garage -- I ask them to look at the rear brakes. They were still okay but were getting low so in the future I'd want to keep an eye on their levels. I really appreciated the honesty regarding the fluid, and the heads-up regarding the brakes. Joey's is out of the way for me, but I'll be giving him my business in the future.

Mom was planning to go back to Philly on Monday, but now that didn't look like it was going to happen. Many shops were closed on Saturday, and some were booked out for a few days. I was not familiar with Riverside Auto Repair, but on a recommendation, I checked them out. I was told that it was best to text Larry, the owner. I did, Larry immediately responded and said to bring the car over Saturday morning. My expectations were exceeded. Lary performed a full safety check on the car and pointed out a few items that needed attention. He sent me a detailed estimate for repairs with pictures, and I could respond and pick and choose which items I wanted him to fix or replace. I responded and in a matter of a few hours, the car was fixed with ice cold air and new brakes and rotors. Larry also fixed an item and didn't even charge me for it. My Mother was thrilled. I used to be in the business, and I am familiar with the cost of repairs for autos. Larry was polite and provided extremely quick service at a reasonable cost and the repairs were perfect.
