Love this place. The instructors are so incredible. I'm that crazy picky mom who doesn't trust my kids with anyone, but after taking the kiddo I nanny there for a few months, I loved what I saw & wanted my son to start classes. He's a great kid, smart, but like most boys, high energy & kind of wild. I wanted to channel that energy into something positive. The coaches really keep each child in line so gently and patiently. I've seen coaches carrying some of the new, younger kids on their hip while teaching the class. They really make sure that every kid gets the most out of each class. My kids all love going & I love seeing them grow in strength, confidence, & attitude. I highly recommend this to any parents looking for a great sport for their kids to get into. read more

Team Chip is a great place for kids and adults of all ages. They offer different programs like jujitsu, taekwondo, and parkour. The culture is awesome! The instructors and leadership team work hard to ensure the students have a fun, motivating, and clean environment to learn. At Team Chip they teach more than how to defend yourself, they teach discipline, and excellence. They show they really care by pouring their hearts out and energy for their students and staff. The staff at Team Chip are always trying to improve and better themselves so they can better teach and serve the students. Team Chip also has cool events like tournaments, Women self-defense classes, Teen nights, parent's night out, and more!! I have been training at Team Chip for over a year now. I have gained confidents, a purpose, and people I consider family. Team Chip has changed my way of thinking and my attitude towards people. Before this place I was heading down a wrong path and they helped guide me in the right direction. They challenge and push me to do better every day. My brother and I were in Chip's class when I was ten and my brother was seven. Maybe he has changed since then, but at that time Chip was an angry, screaming bully of a teacher who had no business working with kids. My appendix burst on the day before they were testing for new belt color levels. My newly widowed mother dropped my brother off for the test after they had spent the night at the hospital so he could get the new belt he had been working so hard for. When Lim, the owner at the time, granted him his yellow belt, Chip threw the belt at my exhausted 7 year old brother's feet and told him he didn't deserve it. Then he proceeded to call the wrong hospital and ask if I was there and accuse my mother of lying when they said I wasn't. She told him to check the other hospital and then never let us anywhere near that man again. I sincerely hope that he has grown up in the last decade or so, but I wouldn't let any child of mine step one foot inside the building. read more

By far the worst Tae Kwon Do school I've ever visited. Tried setting up a place for my son to practice, (which by the way he has been studying since 4 years old in Korea.) and after they found out he was a 3rd degree certified by Kukkiwon they never returned my call. If you ask me Chip is a just another non certified instructor with little knowledge on what real Tae Kwon Do is. read more

Since I've joined Team Chip my confidence has grown not only on the floor, but in other aspects of my life. They have taught me the importants of staying healthy both mentally and physically. The discipline that I have learned from Team Chip in the gym has carried over into the way I study and learn at school as well. I can't tell you what a blessing this place is. Truly they are a team. You may see Master Chip Townshend as that 6th degree black belt, ESPN world record setting bat breaker, or that guy in every other Century Martial Arts magazine, but he is a real person who genuinely cares about his team. He and his instructors have a lot of energy and they pass that on to their students including my wife and three children 11, 7 and 6. They teach great discipline and encourage well. Sure they may seem tough at times, but they desire to see you do well. It's not the days of Master Lim in which you had to do push ups on your knuckles on concrete and hope you get a belt at some point. They have mats and actual belt ceremonies to celebrate the success of your hard work. My children are loving it, and I am so proud of their accomplishments and how it is giving them confidence! I joined Team Chip a year ago and have loved it. This is not an activity just for the young and athletic. I started in "mid" life and have many joint issues that makes things tough. Our son started Team Chip last November. We were looking for something that would help his agility, endurance, and self-image. What we discovered was not only a place that did all that, but also a place that cares about their community and the student as a whole. The instructors treat their students with respect, and that respect is returned by the student. Communication between Team Chip and the students is encouraged and I really feel that we are helping him become a better student TOGETHER. After taking a few of the FREE women's self-defense classes I began taking Tae Kwon Do myself. In the past, I considered working out a "had to do"; now, I WANT to go to class and I want to work on my Form and One Steps on the days I do not attend. This has been one of the best decisions we have ever made as a family. read more
