We love this place and more importantly our kids are obsessed!!! Coach Keta and Rod are amazing. They are professional, fun, effective, and approachable. We have 5 and 7 year old boys. We signed them up 2 weeks ago; after a 6 month mediocre experience at a local martial arts dojo that seemed very cookie cutter... We have not missed a day for 2 weeks. Our boys insist on coming 5 days per. They can't decide if they like boxing, ju jitsu, Mui Thai, wrestling or the Friday ninja warrior Conditioning day most. Also every class is completely different keeping the kids engaged. I should add it's super fun for parents to watch as well. Their behavior has been better at home. I cannot speak highly enough of this amazing gym. I hesitate to even call it a gym because it really feels like a club house, a therapist's office, a church, and a home. Keta (owner and chief badass) makes everyone feel welcome and empowered. This is not the place to just hit stuff hard and sweat. This is so much more. They want you to know WHY you do what you do and HOW to do it properly. You don't just hit a bag, you learn how to step into it and extend your arm and at what angle. You don't just kick something, you learn how to turn your hips and when in a fight that kick should be placed for maximum effect. You learn the science of fighting. You learn that sometimes a push kick to get away from someone is a much better idea than any fancy combo. It's practical! I hate working out, but this doesn't feel like a workout, it's a skill. I didn't start my fitness journey until my late 20's and I owe so much to Keta and everyone else at Team Bully Buster. They have found such a great balance of encouraging and motivated. There's a no nonsense tough as nails aspect to this gym and it is perfectly balanced by a loving and fun aspect as well. We dance, we play, we train, we support, we teach, we learn, we get hurt, we get tougher, we get more confident, we get empowered, we get tough and beautiful. I've attended many Anti-Bullying events which leaves you with the do's and don't's and a great pamphlet for review. However, TBB teaches the practical skill set that's needed when faced with a bully. It gives you confidence when placed in such a horrible situation. I wish I knew these techniques when I was bullied growing up. With Bullying at all all time high, this is the place to take your kids to learn how to defend themselves. As an adult, I never really thought about needing self-defense classes but after taking them, I feel so empowered! Thank God I've never been assaulted, but I know people who have and the first thing you do is panic and do all the wrong things in trying to get away. NOW, I know what to do and how to get out of these types of situations. When I took my first Self-Defense class I felt so....Insecure. I had no idea what I was doing!! One of the techniques I learned is how to get someone off of you when being held down. When I learned it, I literally cried!! I brought my girl scout troop (Juniors in high school) to prep them for going away to college. We were impressed, our girls did many things from being grabbed one hand, 2 hands, chocking, how to fall, how to get away from predators if you were down and he is attacking you ... wow!! All the above that hopefully never happens but now they need to practice and have a self awareness that they have the knowledge how to get away from it. My daughter started taking classes here several months ago. She LOVES it. The owners have done an amazing job building up this community. The kids are supportive of each other, and take the lessons seriously. Each night of the week focuses on a different martial art discipline (e.g. Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, etc.). I saw this place right on the corner near my house & thought what a great idea to enroll my nieces here! They're 9 & 10 and one of them is about to enter middle school so I want to make sure she knew how to defend herself if needed! Not to mention Muay Thai is a great work out! Anyways, as soon as we walked in the gym, the owner Keta was kind, welcoming and made us feel like we've known her for years! She took my munchkins into class to try out ( drop in fee $25 no biggie) & took her time teaching them how to punch & kick correctly while also explaining why they do what they learn! After the kids were finished they wouldn't leave the gym! They absolutely love it and so do I! The place is nice and clean and smells good, the parking can get tricky since it's only street parking but it's worth it! I would recommend this gym to whoever has kids who want to learn Muay Thai or Jiujitsu / self defends or just a good work out! They also have classes for teens and Adults! This is the most fabulous martial arts studio. Our daughter, 11, goes here a few times a week and loves it. My daughter started taking classes at Team Bully Buster's about one month ago. She really loves the classes and I do too! I sit in on all the classes she takes, in order to observe my daughters progress and Coach Keta and Coach Rod are FANTASTIC coaches/teachers! Coach Rod is the male force and energy needed in the class. He comes with lots of wrestling experience. I find him to be a strict disciplinary and places challenges on the kids, that forces them do better, achieving the best outcome, in their self defense training. He's no joke (you may end up doing 50 pushups if you're talking in class) but he commends them when they do well. Keta is the female force and pro wrestler/actress that has a strong physical presence, that I feel is important for women and girls to see. For them to know, they can be pretty, remain feminine and kick butt too! She is highly skilled in her training and effectively and efficiently teaches her students. I find the training to be very diverse, mixing up all forms of self defense, from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and doing obstacle courses. Everyday is something different. There is never a dull moment and the diverse music they play during class is awesome! It's sets the atmosphere. There is a great energy present all the time and I'm so pleased that I found Team Bully Busters! Keta and Coach Rod are what I would call a "Dynamic Duo"!
