I can't recommend Victoria highly enough for both lactation and postpartum support. As a postpartum…read moredoula, she is extremely communicative and prompt. She's warm and fun, and I had no trouble trusting her with my brand new baby because she is such an obvious professional. She advised us on baby care, gear, and cloth diapering and cooked some really wonderful meals. I think the best part of having a postpartum doula in to help after you have a baby (as opposed to family) is that they know TONS about newborns and recovering postpartum, but they aren't attached to their opinions like your mother-in-law would be. Victoria is like your super-knowledgeable yet judgement-free BFF. In terms of breastfeeding support, Victoria is not a militant, exclusive breastfeeding only type lactation consultant (like some you might have met). Her goal is to support you in reaching your breastfeeding goals, whatever they may be. As a result, she really listened to me and asked intuitive questions to discern what was and wasn't working as I tried to breastfeed my first baby. As she helped me solve early breastfeeding struggles and new ones emerged, she offered concrete strategies that were tailored to my specific issues (big baby, cracked nipples, oversupply). She empowered and guided me to find the latch that worked best for me and my baby. I came out of that really tough first month or so with way more confidence that I had going in. My baby and I continue to have a great breastfeeding relationship, and I credit that to Victoria.

I took a lactation class with her, got in-hospital lactation support right after the birth, and she worked with me for weeks afterward as I got the hang of nursing my baby. During the hectic first weeks of motherhood, I had a lot of anxiety around breastfeeding. Thanks to Victoria, I gained confidence in myself and my body's ability to produce milk for my baby *and* practical skills. Since breastfeeding is a journey, not a destination, she's my #1 resource should any other lactation challenges come up!

Sejal is the absolute best lactation consultant I've ever encountered. My case was so complex and…read morehad seen other lactation consultants and spent hundreds of dollars in the process with them and had no results. Time was of the essence as my milk supply dwindled and depleted to about .5 ounces a day from 20-30 oz a day! I need help desperately. I happen to cross beyond Birth online and I took a chance and was paired with Sejal. She listened intently, assist carefully, took time and care but worked efficiently and quickly. My results were immediate she troubleshooted until everything was just right. And because of her I am eight months postpartum and still breast-feeding my baby exclusively! My case was very intricate and she handled it with ease! She is the lactation whisperer! Forever grateful. I will be telling everyone I know about her. I also had the privilege of working with Leslie who just like Sejal was so intuitive. From checking in to see what I was doing and going along to supplementation's that would help me to informative videos on how to. She was pivotal and helping me in a later issue I had after working with Sejal. I was able to get on a call with her immediately after reaching out to their establishment and as before when working with Sejal, my results were immediate like only hours later immediate! These women are just unreal! Beyond Birth Lactation is the truth!

Beyond Birth Lactation Services has been a postpartum blessing on my lactation journey after having…read moremy second baby. Leslie and her team (Mattea, Lorraine, and Monique) are all truly impeccable people. You can tell they sincerely love what they do, are extremely attentive, and genuinely want to help you meet your lactation goals. Whether it be for breastfeeding or pumping, preventing clogged ducts, reducing/increasing your supply, identifying tongue/lip ties etc., the team will work with you on where you are, and to help you get to where you need to be. I have literally had an appointment with every single team member, and I can attest that they are all amazing no matter who you see. I have seen Mattea and Leslie immediately postpartum for breast flange sizing, clogged ducts, and prevention of mastitis. Not only did they treat me, but they also gave me educational videos to help with lymphatic massage and breast gymnastics to help my milk flow. Having the correct flange size after having my second child has also truly made a difference. Prior to coming here, I had seen 2 other lactation consultants that had sized me at a 36 mm (with my first son) and a 28 mm (while I was pregnant with my 2nd) when I am actually a 17mm. Although the body changes and so can your flange size, having the correct has been a total game changer with pain and milk production. I've also seen Lorraine for follow up with positioning and learning about laid back breastfeeding. The team has also helped me read my baby's cues while breastfeeding as he grows. I've also learned how to breastfeeding while in a ring sling carrier which has been a life saver around the house. The facility is located in Durham in the Madison Centre and has plenty of parking. The suite is very warm and welcoming (tea and water and small snacks available) to both parent(s) and baby. Each lactation consultant has a comfy office equipped with furniture to assist with breastfeeding postures (sitting/reclined/side lying) and pillows to help prop baby or parent be comfortable. Something I absolutely love is that you can schedule everything by text and email confirmation. I was able to have appointments virtually and in the office.

I worked with Doulas Maris and Katie, I had an in home meeting with each of them to get acquainted with one another and address my needs and birth plan. I wish I would have taken advantage of the yoga classes, but it didn't work out in my schedule. Katie ended up in the birth room with us. I was already 35 weeks I believe, by the time I called them. They were on call for me, provided 2 trainings (I only had time for one because my baby came early). Megan was super helpful to have at my birth experience at Rex. She was a rational, calm and sweet influence. She explained things. She asked for things, helped advocate for us and held my legs while I pushed for three hours! I couldn't imagine not having her there. She took pressure off my husband and made a very, potentially, stressful experience way better. I also enjoyed the post birth visit - she played with my son and shared some of her birth experiences - it made me feel better about my stresses., I also had a massage shortly after the birth and a stomach wrap. It was lovely.

I attended the childbirth education class, newborn prep class, and the prenatal movement class -- I'd recommend all expecting parents to attend all of them! Emily was always super responsive over text whenever I had any questions during pregnancy, she's incredibly knowledgeable and empathetic. I ended up getting a cesarean section due to my baby being breech so I didn't need a birth doula, so they gave me the option of a partial refund or 12 hours of postpartum doula services (which is what I opted for). It was great having Jessica come check up on me postpartum and go through some basics of breastfeeding, infant care, and also just giving us a small break during the early newborn days. We've recently also worked with Amanda for babysitting services and she's amazing! ERDC does it all. They are big on community and fostering support before, during, and after birth.
