I do not have an account (yet) at this bank, but, I went into the bank to ask if there was an ATM inside the bank, because I did see an ATM, enclosed next to the bank. The very professional and thoughtful and helpful Security Guard explained that there was no ATM in the branch, but there was that ATM which you would enter from the street. I explained why I was asking, told the guard what had just happened, and he offered to walk me to that ATM. I said ok and THANK YOU. He let another bank employee know that he was walking me to the ATM. They said fine. Once I was inside the locked area with the ATM, The Security Guard asked if I was ok, and he was going back to the branch, if I felt ok. I said yes, and thanked him again. NOW, THIS WAS THOUGHTFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. SMART CUSTOMER SERVICE. VERY HELPFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. IMPRESSIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE, THANKS TO THIS SECURITY GUARD. Colonial is big enough to serve most of my financial needs, but still small enough to provide personalized service. When I have a problem, the person on the other end of the line is someone who knows me and helps me quickly and efficiently. I never feel like just an account number. The bankers are all active in the community with all sorts of non-profit and social groups. And they are always willing to do their part for various fund-raisers and community programs. That speaks volumes about a banks commitment to their home town. I would hate to have to move my accounts back to one of the mega-banks.

This bank does not accept checks that have a background design on them. Several times when I have…read morewritten checks from my PNC account to EHT school for lunches, the checks are sent back because the scanner at this branch can not read the check. Instead of improving/replacing their scanner, the bank returns the check and charges the account holder a fee. So if you have an account here, expect to have problems with receiving checks from people who have the audacity to have checks with pictures. I went in there to complain and they said there was nothing they could do and admitted that it happens all the time. What kind of bank just randomly denies people's checks because of their own lack of technology and then charges you for it. This is the only bank that this has ever returned my checks for this reason. Stay away from this incompetent bank.
