If you come in needing to see someone other than a teller that wait can sometimes be very long. Also there is not much seating in the waiting area so come being prepared to stand. When opening a new account make sure you ask about any fee's that may arise after the first year of opening the account. Otherwise I have no complaints.

I walked into Amscot expecting a short-term solution during an unusual emergency. I left feeling…read morehumiliated -- and with serious concerns about racial profiling and discriminatory business practices. I have never taken out a payday advance before. I have a strong financial profile: over $20,000 in monthly deposits, a base salary exceeding $200,000/year, an Amex Platinum card, and I prepaid my penthouse apartment lease for the year. But after losing my wallet and work phone in an Uber, and with it being 5pm on a Friday, I turned to Amscot for a quick bridge solution -- planning to repay the full amount by Monday, including interest. Instead, I was stalled for over an hour and ultimately denied, despite providing full documentation: bank statements, ADP paystubs, and valid ID. Meanwhile, other customers -- all of whom appeared to be of the same racial background as the staff -- were served quickly, with minimal questions. Here's the part that makes the situation undeniable: my assistant, who is Puerto Rican and darker-skinned, visited the same Amscot location earlier this week. She was approved in under 10 minutes for the same kind of advance. We work at the same company -- but she earns less than half of what I do. No additional paperwork was required. No stalling. No strange looks. Just fast approval. The only meaningful difference between us was appearance. This isn't speculation. It's a side-by-side comparison of two people, same employer, vastly different income levels, and dramatically different treatment. I've attached a photo of the staff member who handled my case, and I'll be filing formal complaints with the Florida Attorney General and the CFPB. No one -- regardless of race, appearance, or economic status -- should be judged or mistreated for seeking a service a company publicly offers. This wasn't about risk. It was about race.

Its a very dehumanizing and lengthy process if you are ever here to apply for a cash advance. Mind…read moreyou, cash advances are only up to $500 max. 1. They want your ID 2. 2 recent paystubs 3. Proof of bank direct deposit or account activity 4. They only deal with "certain banks" and if you do not have an approved account, you will be denied. 5. I gave them info for my alternate acct (an account that they "accept" since they did not accept my other active account that was first given) and still got denied due to showing no "recent" account activity. Like what? Its still an active and open account. Not everyone uses every bank account every month or every day. Thats the point of having more than one account. Needless to say, I was there for a considerable amount of time going thru all of the steps and more due to the requested emailed pdf documents not being received on their end. Apparently, they don't take certain emails from certain email accounts either. I will not ever return to Amscot. Its too much of a hassle for a measly $500 max. Like seriously.
