Now that my brother has passed, I am dealing with this myself. Then Michelle informs me all the Mutual Funds are impossible to deal with and it is best if you bring the shares to Schwab for Transfer. Well, that is what I did and no shares were transferred to Schwab. I wish there was follow up. Schwab no longer offers a Medallion Signature Guarantee for their clients (required by Mutual Funds) No follow up, no advise, Promised alot with referral to good referrals to attorneys etc. by Michelle. These are not investment advisors they are paper pushers and Dan is rarely in the office. I am sure they are successful; however, this has not been a pleasant experience. I have spent over 12 hours trying to get the shares transferred. I brought over shares from another company and Michelle was very helpful with that transaction.

I would leave message after message after message and never get a return call. I finally walked into the branch one day and the receptionist said my financial advisor was with clients. She asked if I could come back in a hour which I did and my financial advisor "was out to lunch." The following day I called AGAIN to speak with my advisor and AGAIN he was, "out to lunch." I never recieved a call back. Four days later I gave it one last attempt. I called, financial advisor was with clients and of course.......NO CALL BACK! Smith Barney obviously does not take customer service seriously. Customer service is their last priority. Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanely and Charles Scwabb are all in the same area and my exprience with all of them were great. Hope this helps someone because I got screwed. Too many times I needed to transfer assests, sell bonds, sell stocks etc......and because my calls were not retunred, I got screwed many times.
