We had only 1 night in Izmir, it was late and didn't know the place, so we were just happy to find a place to eat. The terrace is nothing special and the tables were sticky (no place mat nor napkin). Only 1 waiter could speak English and he really took the time to explain the menu (which was only in Turkish), which was nice. We were 3, not really hungry, so we wanted to share 1 plate yoghourt, 1 plate calamars and 1 plate of a chicken stew. The guy took our order and came back with 3 plates. When we got the bill, though, they had counted twice the yoghourt and 2 the calamars. I said there was something wrong, and the guy explained he had brought a double portion of each, as we were 3 people (so 1 would eat the chicken, and the others would have yoghourt + calamars). I insisted and explained we had never asked for double portions. They said we had eaten everything so it was normal to pay ! I explained we had never been there before so we could not know distinguish a normal plate from a double portion... They were a bit angry, but we left 10 LT more than what we had ordered (15 LT less than the bill) and I said it would be fine like this. They accepted grousing and forced us to leave immediately.
I can understand that they prefer that we order 3 main dishes instead of 2 meals and 1 mezze, but they should have explained us when we took the order and we found it dishonest to leave us the surprise for the end of the meal.
On top of this, the 2 main dishes were acceptable, but the yoghourt was the worse we tried in our 10 days in Turkey. I would definitely not recommend this place. read more
