They were warm and attentive in the beginning, but then forgot about you once you're main courses were out. We were sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting for the bill and we weren't even asked how the food was and if they can get us refills. So they get a 3/5 for service, and they seemed too well staff in cooking counter, we're talking like 10 people back there and 3-4 waitresses. High Yield: A Pakistani, Middle Eastern Indian fusion restaurant that does a spectacular job on spices and capturing the tastes of these cultures, but with ghosting hospitality that needs improvement, easy on wallet, and warm atmosphere Details: What we ordered 1. Chicken Madras- They claim this is the spiciest dish offered here. True- takes a couple of bites for that spice to truly finally hit you. Great for those who are trying to truly go for a spicy and tasteful dish. I highly recommend this outta all the chickens on here. Tikka is a little too tomatoey, Bhuna has a yogurty tang to it, and this is straight up spicy spice if you like it this way. Chicken breast with a sauce not creamy but heavy in spices. Very good and well done. I highly approve. Order a side of roti/naan and dip it in. The madras and bhuna do not come with rice/bread btw, so I recommend you order a bread to dip with 2. Lamb Madhu- Rice is a little flavorless and it's a little more tough than the typical basmati rice that you see- aka not fluffy. The lamb was not bad though. It's lamb on bone compared to briyani where the meat is not on the bone. Way too much rice in my opinion but if you're a big rice eater, go for it. If your company ordered a madras/curry they can mooch off your rice a little ;) 3. Bhuna Chicken- a yogurty kinda curry. You can definitely taste the tartness of the yogurt- a soothing and comfortable curry to order if you're someone who doesn't want something too spicy or tomatoey. Highly recommend. Also need a roti/bread or mooch off a briyani's rice if you get this. Well done, however. Service: Ok, this is where they lose their 5 star rating. They come off as warm and super attentive at first. And you're pleased. However, once that main course appears, they ghost you. Never saw our waiter again. Didn't even come by and ask how we were doing, check for refills, or even come with check even when were clearly done for a while. They had excellent service but seemed to ignore you after you get your food. I checked multiple times and it wasn't like they were understaffed... rather they had like 10 people preparing food, 2-3 people chilling back behind that counter, and like 4-5 waiters for about 20-25 tables... so I don't understand how they can ghost. I recommend they step up the service or else will sacrifice their quality of their restaurant.. If you're in a rush, definitely put pressure for them to get your check or else yyou'll NEVER get it.

Absolutely stella venue…read more This building is in a class of its own. Old school cottage full of character. Well kept. The bar is situated in this side with the buildings interiors in all its glory. The main seating is through the bar and build in a more modern setting. Very well set out. High end tables and posh. Food is in a league of its own. The duck for starter and the mix platter is what we started with. Lush and full of flavour. Obviously this is with the poppadoms and dips. For mains I asked for something with a madras level heat and what he would recommend. I had something that wasn't on the menu but was a local curry to one of the chefs origins. This was amazing an explosion of flavour with the right amount of heat. The other half's meal was equally as tasty. Sides were just as good. Far too much for us to finish. We were stuffed after this with no room left for desert. :-( Great meal with drinks to accompany in the perfect setting for a couple to have a quiet romantic evening. Well recommended.

There is an incredible range of different indian styles of cooking and The Cottage appears to cover them all, from mild and unbelievably aromatic to "burn your wig off" strong. The drinks selection is very limited, but not bad for a restaurant, but..... This is where we went wrong. The last time I had a meal here, we took some of our children for a birthday meal and paid out over £120 for just a few of us. This is OK in central London or any equivalent city, but not in a quiet part of Warrington! To summarise, I would recommend this to anybody who really enjoys indian food and especially curries, but be prepared to pay for the experience. Just an "extra"; There is a plaque on the outer wall stating that Oliver Cromwell "stayed near here" when planning a lot of his campaigns during the civil war. The truth is vague, he definitely stayed in the "Spotted Leopard Inn", but nobody knows where exactly that was in this street. The Cottage, in the 1900's was the directors dining room for management from Rylands Wireworks which used to be next door, where now stands a huge Sainsbury's and its carpark!

Formerly the Saffron…read more I took my family and my parents along last night to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Having seen it change hands towards the end of last year I thought I would try somewhere different, especially after reading the reviews of the Wilmslow restaurant. Car parking is not a problem with spaces to the front and along the side. I had booked a table for 4 adults and a child at 7pm, thinking it may be quiet ish. Upon entering it was packed with only a couple of seats for those waiting. Thankfully as we settled down to wait, we were shown straight to a table set for 4 at the back left of the dining room. The table would at best be comfortable for 2 adults giving them some elbow room and space for the accompanying dishes that would no doubt be served, let alone 4 adults and a child. We then had to pull up an additional chair positioned at the end as it was only set for 4. We asked to move and were shown to a circular table to the left of what we found out to be the very busy main entrance to the kitchen after they had cleared it down. The dining room was fully seated. The walls and ceiling in our close proximity showed signs of an obvious recent water leak, as the white paintwork was stained with brown water marks. The glass partition that separated us from the kitchen walkway was spattered with food and there was the constant clank of cutlery as it was dropped into the large hopper behind our heads. Adjacent to our table was a large party of 22+, all the tables pushed together. The atmosphere was loud, colourful and I have to say overpowering given the general background din (people shouting to be heard) and the continuous clatter of the food trolley transiting back and forth past our table at very frequent intervals. I found out in the morning that it had left samples of several dishes on the back of my coat. Service was prompt, courteous and drinks were quickly brought to our table, though we had to wait 10 minutes for menus. The starters and mains were brought in good time and I have to say the food was fantastic. My father approved and that is praise indeed. Sadly due to the close proximity of the large party my wife was continuously asked if she could move to allow party members up to get away from the table and then back in. Given the closeness (battery hens) she couldn't just move her chair but had to get up, move her chair each time somebody came and went. During our meal a large party of beer infused gentlemen were seated at anther larger circular table on the other side of the kitchen access way. They didn't stay long as one possibly two of them started to racially abuse staff members. The staff were brilliant and quickly ejected them from the premises. Once we had finished eating and drinking I asked for the bill and waited several minutes. When it arrived I thought it would be quicker to pay at the bar. However 4 members of staff there, 1 pouring drinks, 1 wondering which was the £40 bottle of champagne and the other 2 busy counting covers. Not one paid me any attention even though I had my silver platter in hand displaying my bill and debit card. Finally (4 minutes) a waiter asked if I needed anything and I paid. There was no cursory conversation about our experience, "everything all right sir, did you enjoy your meal, was this your first time here, hope to see you again etc" It was the curtain close that could have been a fantastic evening. To summarise, the restaurant is a converted 19th century pub and as such the layout does not lend itself to spacious dining given the number of tables and chairs squeezed in. The number of patrons packed in leads to excessive noise, busy staff coupled with the clanking dining cart equalled for us a painful eating experience. I have to say though the food was excellent and I would use the take away service if I lived nearer.
