Both times I had been here was for an early weekday dinner at the Knutsford location. A bit weird going through a deserted upstairs into a downstairs dungeon to eat but at least the food was good. Both times I ordered a curry dish and a biryani for rice. Remember with tip the total coming to just about 30 quid each time. One thing that angered me is that on my second visit, even though I was remembered, they checked my credit card signature and made me sign for a second time on a new receipt because I had scribbled it. Seriously? Well they should have accepted the first signed receipt because due to wasting my time I could not have been bothered to include a tip the second time. This is quite as well as the service was not very good and had to ask for water a few times. Nevertheless, for what they lack in service they make up in the quality of the food. Must say Mughli Bar & Kitchen had the best Indian food I had eaten while I was visiting the UK. Cheers for that!

The restaurant is larger than you first think as it extends on two floors into the back, but its always advisable to book as its full most evenings (weekends at least). The first time i visited i ordered the Thali which comes as a 3 course meal (which a thali main) and then on my second visit i ordered one of the richest most delicious indian lamb dishes i've ever had. You cant go wrong as every dish on offer is delicious! The only difficulty we had was understanding the layout of the menu. Its a little difficult to navigate, so i recommend taking a quick look on the simplified board outside first.

I had a really excellent fish pakora to start and then one of the chef's specials as a main. The naan bread (the make or break element of a curry for me) was perfect so I was very happy. It was really busy and people were being turned away on a Thursday evening which is always a sign of good food. As a result I'd recommend booking a table in advance. You can get the metrolink to Altrincham then a taxi down to Hale or the train goes all the way there. This place really stands out from some of the samey average/poor curry houses in south Manchester.
