My husband hired this accounting firm and used it for several years. He passed away in 2022. I…read morehired them because my husband put his trust in them. I had no experience handling taxes and felt I was in good hands. I realize "now" that ultimately when we sign the tax papers, we are responsible for the taxes. I don't feel that there was compassion shown concerning what I went through, having to handle my husband's affairs. Furthermore, we should be all shown compassion for a deceased member of the family, and the grieving process. I was also ill at the same time. I paid good money to have the taxes completed. The SSA-1099 was not sent to me. I had given all tax papers to them except for those forms. The tax preparer knew this but did not tip me off. If I had stayed in the Grand Junction area, I would not use them again. My tax preparer, where I live now, covered me concerning the SSA-1099 forms, so I was not penalized. Now, I know to go online to the SSA website to print off those forms. I so appreciate his compassion and professionalism. I felt disappointed in this firm, and the lack of conscientious. One of my family members who is an accountant shared with me that he feels he must inform his clients of mistakes. I feel this should aways be communicated to help clients out, so they want to continue frequenting their tax business.
