I first contacted this organization weeks ago. Their voicemail instructed me to text rather than call, which was unusual, so I followed their instructions. I received a reply stating they were on vacation for two more weeks and would respond when they returned. They never did. After waiting, I reached out again and was told they were working through their backlog and to allow another day or two. That was over a week ago, and I've still received no response. For an organization that exists to support people, this level of communication is unacceptable. My situation is deeply personal and time-sensitive, and being repeatedly ignored has been incredibly disappointing. STEER very clear of this place because they WILL make you late no matter how diligent you are and you will be responsible for the late fees on top of what you owe. I reached out in late January/ early feb submitted all my docs, had to follow up Multiple times and basically beg for my docs to sign... I even paid without docs to sign just hoping that would get them to give me what I needed to file ... up until 2 business days before the deadline I was stressed and still calling their office so I had to pay someone else to do it. read more

Once again, Jeff came through with our taxes! Jeff was very informative and took his time to explain all the new tax changes for this tax season. He's also made our appointment for 6pm and when we arrived, no waiting for him to wrap it up with another client and that goes to show he manages his schedule well. Greatly underestimated my tax on my extension, then the bill jumped by tens of thousands of dollars, saddling me with not only the unexpected bill but thousands extra in penalties and fees. Did my due diligence after things started feeling shady and found out his Cpa license had lapsed. Chris' response was mistakes happen then he stopped returning my emails or calls. This company is a scam. They tried to tell me I owed a large sum of money and left urgent voicemails saying I needed to pay it back. I filed through turbotax instead went through my info 3 times and I did not owe that amount of money. When I asked for assistance to explain why (twice) I never was called back. I had to file a tax return in order to receive my 2nd stimulus. I am retired and have not had to file for years. I have never reviewed a place before. However circumstances have brought about this one. Tax 42 did not properly list my bank information for direct deposit. They left of the last number of my account number. Upon noticing this mistake I called them. Many times with not a return call. So I kept calling and a week ago asked them to file an amendment. They said they would. Called the again no return call. Yesterday I called again speaking with Patty who stated they did not file an amendment. This is after I gave them my corrected account number. Today I spoke with Brenda and requested she email and send via US postal service a copy. At the time of this writing nothing. I am so sorry I ever used this company. I hope who ever is reading this does not either. Not professional in any manner. read more

My first time with them was to do my 2016 Taxes. And I was heartbroken when they told me that they are moving to Simi Valley. Also, I was suppose to get money back and still have not gotten my electronic money. It was not an issue they made is a personal issue but now that I want to fix this issue I can't even go to their office to resolve this. I like working face to face. The Owner wants me to give my personal information that he needs to a Brenda in which I don't feel comfortable in doing. I have been coming to Tax 29 for the past 12 years & will never go anywhere else. Currently, they charge $30 for basic tax preparation for a single individual, but this amount can increase based on whether someone has a spouse, children, or property. They are busy the closer to tax deadline. I recommend making an appointment if you plan to come in on a Saturday. I made my appointment two weeks in advance, walked in ten minutes early & walked out ten minutes later. Brenda is so friendly & knowledgeable. She will answer all of the questions you have. This is NOT Tax 29! Jeff is gone. I won't even call this group the new ownership as this is a completely new staff other than Brenda. This is a different company and should not be compared with the shining example that Tax 29 was. Having been with Tax 29 for 16 years, this change was shocking as there was no transition, no goodbye and no "hey, these people are going to be taking over", not even any type of reminder of what documents I should be concerned about, where I should be going to submit documents, or even an acknowledgement that they wanted my business again, but I wanted to give them a chance. A rough start the first year, but the Pandemic would do that, so, I thought I would gave them another go. This year, more of the same lack of communication, lack of organization, lack of ability to follow through. I tried to make an appointment via their website (which is still showing praise for the previous owners, a very disingenuous act on their part). No response. As time started becoming short, I called in directly in an attempt to make an appointment, having already uploaded my documents to the same portal from last year. After getting Brenda, I was told they would try to complete the returns, but more than likely would have to place me on extension, assuring me that they would get back to me. The only way I ever heard from them was when I called ask what was going on and what I needed to do. I understand business can get crazy, but when you stop taking appointments 3 weeks in advance and still cannot even get extensions out to push your clients off for a couple of months at their expense, even after two weeks time, it's time to pack it in. I will gladly pay twice what they are charging elsewhere to know that I at least have someone that I can rely on to even just to get back me, letting me know that they haven't forgotten and that they are working on what they claimed they could do, or even that they need to discuss other options. Follow through, not a brush off just to get me to go away. I don't expect Tax 42 to be around next year. If for some reason they are, I would recommend you avoid them. read more
