I myself broke ranks and ordered the English Breakfast, which was an okay decision. The food itself was tasty enough, but it wasn't what I'd call authentic. Still, tasty. This is also a preferred location in Aalen for an evening coffee, or to have a relaxed cocktail before going to a more happening location. Service is friendly and laid back, which is my way of saying that I thought it was slow until I realised that I was in the quiet town of Aalen, where shops close at 1PM on Saturdays. So, no, it isn't slow per se, just...laid back. So why only three instead of four or five? Food was good, but not stellar. Coffee was good, but not great, though I do give props for pouring a proper latte macchiato. Prices seem a little high. I do have to heartily recommend the Austrian Walnut Bread. That is a fine bread and you would upgrade your breakfast/brunch experience significantly by ordering a basket of just that.

The staff deserves a special mention for their politeness and attentiveness; they checked in often without being intrusive, ensuring our experience was nothing short of perfect. The only heads up I would give is to be sure to bring cash as after the sun goes down it's a "cash only" establishment.

I walked in and looked around took it all in. Finally a woman appeared and took my order, she asked if regular milk was okay and I said yes. She then scooped out already frothed milk from a pitcher that had been sitting there for at least the entire time I had been in the space, and least 3 minutes, and who knows how much longer. Given the fact that I couldn't eat or drink what a I ordered without accidentally inhaling a fly, it's concerning that that milk had been sitting, and I feel like when you're going to a place with espresso bar in the name, the baristas should care about the quality and integrity of the product they're putting out.

The bartender uses fresh ingredients and good spirits to concoct refreshing libations. However, I couldn't let myself give them more stars because of the awful, awful meal I was subjected to while there one fine evening. I get that they are not a restaurant and that bar food isn't always top notch. But this place was so bad that it even took away from the spectacular drinks. Do yourself a favor and ONLY drink here - then you'll get the five-star experience. The food was touted as "tapas," but that would be like me going into a 7-11 quickie mart, cutting up a hotdog and pouring some of their nachos and chili cheese sauce on a plate, serving it two days later, and also calling it tapas. It was the worst food I've ever had at an establishment and almost the worst snack food I ever ate. The Dorito-like chips were stale, the cheese-whiz wasn't freshly squeezed, the fish was fishy and the chorizo was formed into Vienna sausage looking nubs that were greasy! The Panini also wasn't very good - bad ingredients and over-cooked. So, in conclusion, if you find yourself happy and having drinks at this bar and thinking, "Hey, why not just grab something quick here?" Think twice. It would be wiser to go to bed hungry than to eat what they're serving. I would have rather gnawed on my fingernails! Don't say you weren't warned.
