What made the situation particularly frustrating was that the waitress walked past me several times without acknowledging me or asking whether I would like to order. After more than half an hour, another waitress happened to walk by and asked whether I had already ordered. By that point, I honestly had no interest in staying for a meal anymore. I told her that I did not consider this acceptable service and decided to leave. Ignoring a guest for more than 30 minutes, despite the staff repeatedly walking past, is simply not acceptable to me. Even if the restaurant had been busy, someone could have taken a moment to acknowledge the situation and let me know there would be a wait. Given that the restaurant was only moderately busy, the lack of attention was even harder to understand. A restaurant is not just about the food -- it is also about how guests are treated. Unfortunately, my first impression was very clear: I did not feel welcome here. Extremely disappointing and definitely not a place I would recommend.

Not that I hold Godesburger responsible (well, maybe in my heart I do). I should add that all of my food was cold by the time I got back to my hotel. That probably impacted the quality. I wouldn't go back, but only out of spite. So, all in all, the only thing that you can really take from this review is this: if your choice at Godesburger is between the largest size of fries and fare for the ferry, choose the fries. You can eat them while you sit by the Rhine watching the ferry go back and forth. Hotel rooms are overrated.
