I had always wanted some artwork done while I was living in Izmir & unfortunately never got around…read moreto it. When I got the opportunity to go back and visit I jumped at the chance to get some ink done. After some research and a heads up from one of my wife's friends we checked out Dövme Hastanesi (Tattoo Hospital) & was it worth it. It was winter time (in my opinion the best time to get inked). I didn't have to worry about the effects of sea water, chlorine from pools or the harshness of the summer sun. The tattoo parlor is in a quiet neighborhood in the Buca district of Izmir.If I'm not mistaken Enver Kizilateş is the owner & after a brief discussion of what I wanted got right to it. He speaks English, so it helped out. He saw I had some other ink done from the US and he didn't have to be gentle like I was a tattoo amateur. I decided on a collarbone piece "Laugh Now Cry Later". The shop is very clean & I could tell he knew what he was doing from all the good gear he had plus the loads of photos of work he had done. Work too about 1.5 hours with a break every once in a while to grab a quick smoke & give my skin a moment to cool off. He was a good host & joked about the young people who show up and stop half way through because it hurts haha. In the end I was quite pleased with my new artwork & hope to go back and get some more work done by him in the future. As a testament to his great work, my wife ended up going and getting her first ink at that shop. The prices were way more reasonable than what you would pay in Alsancak. This guy is legit, does freehand work too.
