The day I arrived I had an idea of what I wanted but it wasn't set in stone just yet. I wanted lettering done in the old looking typewriter format. I searched their books to find the one that was closest to the format. I found ideally what I wanted and even though I was a walk in, I was in the waiting room within minutes. The size of my tattoo was small, so they were able to fit me in. I appreciate that. The waiting room is a bit confusing right now. They are in the middle of updating it to make it look less like a waiting room. While you wait you can do the usual and read a magazine or play around on your phone. Or if you like, walk around their taxidermy room. Yes, that's right, they have a taxidermy room. How awkwardly cool is that? The skulls are pretty awesome, especially the ones that have designs painted on them. Talk about different and one of a kind, this truly is an example of that. Once back in the chair things went rather smoothly. My anxiety was put at ease at how fast and efficient they work. Everything was done in what seemed like mere minutes to me. This being my eighth tattoo and by far the least complicated and smallest in size. I was very pleased to say the least. She had…read moregotten the idea when during quarantine we would meet at a local wooded park and walk the trails for hours to stay sane. Prior to the pandemic I had decided I wanted to get boxing gloves on my shoulder. Having not gotten a tattoo in two decades and having sworn I would never again, I just like that changed my mind. She had come to this location twice to get a couple tattoos of her own over the past couple years and thought it would make a great birthday gift to come together for an appointment. It turned out to be on of the best gifts. The shop is in a strip mall. The waiting area leave little to be desired. My BFF made our appointments on a Saturday at 4pm. She said the artist though very nice and does good work has a tendency to run late. When she said late I never really imagined what was in store for us. The shop closes at 6 on Saturday's and we were still in the waiting room "waiting" for our appointment to begin. About 2ish hours in she said we could come back. I was a ball of nerves. The last time I got a tattoo I fainted, twice. The first time I got a tattoo I also fainted, twice. Both times I had to be brought back with smelling salts. I don't recommend. She heard that and took great care to get some gummy bears in me, have cold water available, a fan pointed at me and had me lay down as opposed to seated as with my other experiences. It worked. Still hurt like heck but I did not faint. In the end after being there for basically a whole day, I was pleased with the artist Aime, the results of the tattoo and the price was fair. I wasn't really happy with how long it took to get us back there and to complete the process, but that is about the only bad thing I can say. Since the first time I have been back to see Aime 2x's, for two more tattoos after swearing them off for 20 years. Funny thing is I'm a little obsessed now... But the waiting is not a fluke. In February 2018 I came to Jake Stanford wanting to get two full color sleeves. We set up Sundays…read morefor my appointments. I was supposed to come get tattooed every Sunday until the sleeves were finished. Jake was NEVER on time for our appointment. He was late so often that eventually we pushed the start time back from one until two. Sometimes it was later. He was never prepared to work. This would mean I showed up at two for an appointment but would have to wait for him to open the shop, eat, use the bathroom, & then setup to tattoo. Most days the actual tattooing did not start until several HOURS after my appointment time. If the appointment was 2 that would mean tattooing starts at 5. I've never had someone waste my time more than Jake. JAKE IS ALSO COLORBLIND. Something he does not tell people up front. Something he did not tell me until several sessions into color sleeves. Due to this he tattoos at such a slow rate that it seems unreal. A two hour tattoo becomes a full day experience after waiting several hours to start and then the slow pace at which Jake tattoos. He also checks text messages and social media while tattooing. Due to this slow process a tattoo that should be a few hours and 1 session gets stretched into several sessions over multiple days. None of the tattoos Jake does are 1 session. I have several unfinished tattoos on me which Jake does not want to schedule finishing due to the fact "touchups" are unpaid. I've sat over 51 hours of tattooing with Jake and nothing is complete.  I switched from Sundays to Thursdays to accommodate Jake. Three apts ago I was cut short for Jake to go on a date. Two apts ago I was cut short because Jake had scheduled another tattoo after mine even though I was supposed to be booked for the day. Last apt he cut me short again for another tattoo even though I had booked a full day. Then I had an appointment which he tried to push from 2 up to noon so he could tattoo someone else even though again, I was supposed to have the day booked. I cancelled that apt knowing there was no way Jake would be on time at noon or fully awake and at 100% to tattoo. Then I was told I have to wait a month to get in because my full days were booked by other people. Now I'm in the position of having to find another artist to finish what Jake started or find a way to cover it all.

I got my tattoo here last month by Amy, and I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience, which is a pretty big deal when you're dealing with something as permanent as a tattoo.. not like I can just demand a refund if I'm unhappy. From my very first time there to make my appointment, I was impressed by what I saw and experienced. First and foremost, the studio is clean and organized.. BIG deal. Amy is super cool and friendly, and she literally may be the easiest person to work with. I had to cancel my original appointment and reschedule it for a later time, and she was nothing but understanding and nice about it. They do require a small deposit when you book an appointment, but they're really flexible about it. The day of my appointment, Amy opened the shop early to do my tattoo, which was super cool of her. She took time before hand to perfect my idea and make sure it was exactly what I wanted, and really helped ease my nerves as we stood there and talked.. she's got a great personality! More importantly though, shes a fantastic artist!
