Fantastic pastries and unique offerings Atmosphere: This is more of a grab-and-go pastry shop, as there were only four very small tables for dine-in (and may be unavailable during the holiday season). Given the space, it's probably better to order your pastries to go as it's quite crowded on weekends. There was a line outside 15 minutes before open (we started the line) even on a cold Wintery day, so definitely try to visit early in the day. Food: There were quite a few unique pastry items, with our favourites being the cake and the rendang shepherd's pie. The rendang pie had a nice kick of spice and heat, and the potato puree was very nicely combined with the flaky pastry crust and the tender beef. The cake was also nice and soft, and not too sweet. The pandan tart was uniquely flavoured, but wasn't too much of a standout compared to the others. The croissant wasn't bad, but we've definitely preferred croissants (from other bakeries) that were more flakey and layered, especially as it should be fresh from the oven. The apple pie matcha was just okay for us as well, as the cup was filled a bit too heavily with ice and it was hard to consume given it's kind of a drink but also kind of a dessert. Service: The server at the counter was very efficient, but it took quite a while to receive everything even though we were the first customers of the day. We understand that most of the pastries require finishing or need to be warmed, which is why it takes quite a while, but they could perhaps look at pre-ordering and pre-packing certain pastries to save time. Quality pastries worth the wait

Came here in a Friday right before leaving to go on our road trip. We got there around 10:30. There was already a line out the door. We were able to be back in the car by 11:11 so it wasn't too bad. Even though there was a lineup, the staff there was super pleasant. Everybody had a smile. The woman at the counter was very accommodating and was explaining everything to those who needed further explanation on what the items were. I ordered a shepherds pie as well as a crème brûlée pastry with a white grape oolong tea. The tea was very yummy. I definitely enjoyed it as for the crème brûlée - It was fantastic. Still waiting to reheat the shepherds pie as heating instructions directed but I'm sure it will be just as delicious. Even though it was a small space, we were able to have a huge lineup in the inside as it was undesirable weather outside. I cannot wait to come back again or at least send my husband.

Pro tip: while the bakery is still gaining popularity, go just before open or on a weekday. Even though it took a little over an hour and a half from us arriving there to actually getting the box it was maybe worth the wait; just not in -20° weather lol. After placing your order it will still take 20 mins to get your box, so keep that in mind. Some items are bruleed and baked upon order. We got the chicken pie, pistachio croissant, crème brûlée croissant (which is actually more of a tart with seasonal fruit on top), pandan mochi tart, and the weekend special blueberry almond tart. Everything was delicious. The chicken pies were my favorite. Amongst the sweet items, it was probably the blueberry almond tart. The mango on the crème brûlée croissant lacked flavor and the croissant tart shell wasn't very buttery or flaky, but I would go back and try more of their pastries.

Disappointed that they didn't have matcha anymore. Pastries were delightful though! Tried the pistachio croissant, banana bread pudding, and flan. I really like pistachio so I enjoyed the croissant a lot.

This place was charming and cozy. They have limited seating but it's a good place to grab a quick bite and coffee to-go. The server was friendly, patient and had a cheerful smile. We ordered the white grape oolong tea, house brewed coffee, pistachio croissant, banana bread pudding, and flan patissier. White Grape Oolong Tea (4/5) was smooth and fruity from the sweetness of the white grapes. It would be a great cold drink if the option was made available. House Brewed Coffee (5/5) was bold with a nutty finish. This pairs well with any of the pastries they offer. Pistachio Croissant (4/5) was delicious. It was flaky with a creamy pistachio filling. It was sweet and nutty. Banana Bread Pudding (3.5/5) was creamy and had the natural sweetness of banana. It had a bottom-layer of sweet custard-soaked bread. The bread could have been a bit spongier as I found it feeling denser than I would've liked. Flan Patissier (5/5) is a tart made with pandan custard and a layer of red bean. The pandan had a subtle coconut and vanilla flavour that complemented the sweetness and nuttiness of the red bean. This combination was so addicting. The crust was flaky and buttery. We wanted to order the cold brew but unfortunately they didn't have any ready at the time. Hopefully they also add some matcha items on their menu. I'd love to come back again to try the other items on their menu.

Michelin Star chef says it all. Tatin is a cute little restaurant that feels like a michelin star pop up. Come here to enjoy savory and sweet dishes with excellent service. Although the line was long when we arrived we some how managed to get 1 of 4 tables. We came at a decent time as they were just selling out of their goods. We got their seasonal earl grey cake and a quiche and their white grape oolong tea to wash it all down. The tea is very nice, light and fragrant. The quiche was so good, very well made and came with a side of salad with incredible lemongrass dressing. The earl grey cake was perfect. The chef had a chance to chat with us before closing and was so nice and explained different dishes and made us feel so welcome. Tatin will be a big reason for folks to come visit Oakville. I'm so glad they opened up here!

Butter croissant is pretty good, can taste the butter, but not too fond of the rendang meat itself as it is quite hard to chew. Prices are quite expensive too and the long lineup isnt really worth it

We'd just finished a tasty lunch and figured as long as we're in Oakville, we might as well check out the Tatin Bakehouse. It's a very cute little space and they've even got a few tables, which is definitely a welcome touch. I wound up trying three things: Almond Croissant ("Frangipane"): While I wouldn't say this ranks at the top of the various almond croissants I've ever had, it's definitely quite good. The croissant is very fresh and buttery, while the filling is tasty without being too sweet. Canele: Again, this isn't quite up there but it's still quite good. It's very fresh tasting and it has a subtle caramel flavor. I think what I was missing, though, is that delectable burnt caramel flavor you get with this best versions of this concoction. Custard Tart: This was definitely the most unique item we tried, as it's a traditional custard tart with a red bean layer. It's quite tasty but I would say it could stand to be just a little sweeter, which is not something I usually say about desserts. But this almost reminded me of a savory item rather than a sweet treat. They also had a lot of really interesting-looking non-dessert items, so I'll have to return to sample some of those.

I get why it's third in the world! I loved all the pastries I ordered and each was meticulously prepared and perfect in presentation! Just make sure to lineup before they open.

Opened by pastry chef from Hexagon, Lili and Sheila are the head bakers here, and have brought their culinary excellence to Tatin Bakehouse. Incorporating Asian flavours in the most thoughtful and beautiful way, the pastries here are unique and cannot be found anywhere else! It's no wonder that their little shop is always packed. Expect a queue, but every delectable creation here is worth the wait! I've already visited a few times, since they have opened. All pastries and breads are perfection here. If the milkbread or shokupan are not sold out -- MUST order them. However, I must implore you to try ANY item that has traditional Asian ingredients or flavour profiles in them: - Rendang Beef Shepherd's Pie - Custard Tart with black rice - Patissier Flan with pandan and red bean These three are truly phenomenal. Don't sleep on them! Lastly, grab a White Grape Oolong tea to pair with the pastries. Their tea is better than coffee -- for now. Drink options are minimal as their focus are the pastries and bread. Seating is minimal in this tiny shop. Best to grab and go.

before you read this review, bear in mind that i may be more critical because i am indonesian and grew up eating authentic indonesian food. i had very high hopes for tatin due to it bringing its "indonesian inspired" essence to oakville. finding tatin required a bit of effort - this little bakery project sits in an industrial plaza surrounded by other small businesses, about 25-30 minutes from mississauga. the drive might seem daunting, but there's something charming about destinations that require dedication. upon arrival, the name couldn't be more fitting - it truly feels like someone's passion project come to life. with printed hours on the door and visible kitchen workspace, there's an endearing transparency to the operation. the tiny dining area with just four tables for two creates an intimate atmosphere that feels both exclusive and homey. what truly captivated me was the decor. the japanese-swedish aesthetic with modern floral touches feels thoughtfully curated yet effortlessly cool. staying until late afternoon was a treat, as the golden sunset rays filtered through the windows, bathing everything in a warm glow that perfectly complemented the space. i noticed they serve coffee, though i didn't sample any during my visit - something to try next time. now for the main event: the food. unfortunately, they had sold out of sweets (arrive early if you're craving something sugary!), so i focused on their savory offerings. following the cashier's recommendation, i tried three items: 1. the chicken pie was a standout - tender crust with well-balanced spices reminiscent of indonesia's ayam gulai. while delicious and served piping hot, the portion size felt small for the price point. still, as an indonesian dish interpretation, it earns an impressive 8.5/10. 2. the onion pastry delivered technically - soft and flakey as promised - but lacked the memorable flavor profile i was hoping for. pleasant but not memorable at 6/10. 3. as for the rendang shepherds pie, my expectations may have been too high after hearing others rave about it. as someone who grew up eating authentic rendang, this version missed the mark despite being tasty in its own right. the menu description calling it "brisket" when it clearly used stew meat was confusing. however, the torched potato and cipolini onion topping was genuinely innovative, adding a smoky dimension that elevated the dish. while i'd rate it 7/10 as a rendang interpretation, it's a solid choice if you approach it as a creative beef stew pie. the visit ended on a sweet note when lili, the owner, personally bid me farewell - a thoughtful touch that speaks to the care behind this project.

got these beauuutiful cakes and ate them too! i thought the pastries were wonderful, although on the pricey end. my favourite was probably the earl grey petit gateau that had chunks of cannele in it. It was a weekend feature so make sure to ask about those if you come on the weekend :)

Let me start by saying there are not many authentic French bakeries outside the downtown core, so it's such a relief when you finally find one in the GTA. In comes Tradition de France. Right when you walk in, you are greeted with a "Bonjour!". They offer a wide variety of items but I mostly just come for the croissants and more specifically now, the almond croissants. I'm not gonna lie, they're pricey. It's $6 for one almond croissant BUT, take a look at my pictures. The size of one of these is my face+. You're insane if you think I personally, could finish one of these in one sitting lol. This is defs a two-part pastry lol. This croissant is so big and does not look like your average croissant but boy is it GOOD. It's buttery, no fake almond extract taste present and the almond filing texture is just right. It's filled to the point where the bottom of the croissant gets a little soggy, which is exactly what I look for in an almond croissant. The plain butter croissant is also perfect. Flaky and buttery with all the layers. Again, it's so hard to find authentic French bakeries outside of Toronto, so Tradition de France is a good place to start, if you're looking to get your croissant fix.

I had no clue until I looked up what was in the area! Unit itself is in a fairly new strip mall, beside a Boba place. Interior is quite large, but I don't think there was any seating available. Tables/chairs were pushed aside. I picked up a few pastries to take home. Out of the 3 items, the Carrot Cake wasn't the freshest. It was actually on the drier side and had no hint of sweetness. Such a shame since carrot cake is pretty hard to screw up! Dry and little-to-no sugar will do it tho. Come to think of it, everything was just alright, not the usual Mmm...feeling you get after eating their pastries. Due to the area/newness, I don't think this is a busy DPH. So perhaps the turnover rate isn't as fast here. I also came closer to the end of the day, so that might've affected things. Lady who was working there was friendly AND did I mention the $1 coffee?!

It looks really tired and dated, in desperate need of a refresh. Interior is more small town general store as opposed to French patisserie. The refrigerated display was covered in condensation so honestly, it wasn't invited and difficult to see the cakes/tarts that were hidden behind the water droplets. I felt as though this did a HUGE disservice to the baker 'cause this definitely prevents people from being able to properly see the products. Adjacent to the display case, were croissants (chocolate, almond, plain) and pain aux raisin. Clearly some items were in demand because there were less of certain items. Plain Croissant was $4 which, based on the size isn't too bad. "Fancier" croissants were closer to the $5 range. I didn't see any fresh bread, but they had frozen bake-at-home ones in the fridge. Not sure if it was because they were sold out. I got the pain aux raisin and it was pretty good! Not super flakey, a bit more moist, but not dry either. Not super buttery. This was in the early afternoon. And the pain aux raisin was DEFINITELY better than the poor example that I had at Gouter (Etobicoke). That was tiny and not very fresh! Overall, Patisserie D'Or could've been better, but if it's in your neighbourhood, it's probably a bonus.

However, the size was definitely smaller than before. In the past, 1 box can only hold 3 pieces of eclairs and now 4 pieces can fit in. Same price as before. Since I didn't see Monica in the store for a couple times, I asked the lady who served me the whereabout of Monica. That lady told me that Monica and her husband (the French chef) are no longer working there, and she is the new owner now. That's why I noticed a few changes there. The TV was gone and they now have breakfast menu for dine in. New changes are good. Hope they will have more new baking items soon. Unfortunately, since the French chef Mr. Jean-Luc no longer the owner, why they still keep the original website from the old owner. That is misleading.
