Karen is absolutely amazing!! I got married at Castle Leslie in August and had never seen the venue…read morebefore. She was able to take our budget and turn it into something amazing. She was extremely creative and worked off of very little guidance from me. My bridal bouquet was incredible (people are still talking about it). She made the groom and groomsmen floral pocket squares that they absolutely loved. She was very innovative in how to use the florals from the ceremony for the reception as well. I could not recommend House of Elliott Flowers more!

Incredibly creative and stylish. Don't go past these guys if you want your wedding or event to look…read moreabsolutely beautiful, they did a fantastic job with ours. Firstly we had a private meeting with the main florist Karen, who talked us through options and showed us different styles of flowers, bouquets, arrangements and colour palates. She took lots of time and helped us make the right choices according to our budget and needs. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff in general were all very obliging and helpful any time we called in to make a payment or emailed to ask a question. They liaised with the Church independently and took all the work and responsibility out of our hands. The peony arrangements in the church were commented on by everyone and I absolutely loved my bouquet - I didn't put it down all day. Stylish, modern and sophisticated in a nutshell. Not cheap though!

I think I've been watching too many of those Cash in the Attic style shows, because for the last…read moregood while I've had an insatiable desire to go visit an antiques shop and have a nosey, though I've always felt a bit silly. I mean, what do I know about antiques?! The answer is zilch, nada...nothing. And I almost passed this lovely little place for fear of looking completely out of place (I don't know what antique-loving people look like, but let me tell you, they don't look like me), except for the fact that I listened to the voice of reason that happened to be my sister. Delusion happens to the best of us... "Aww, come on Lynne! Don't be so silly, just go in!" she exclaimed. Man, she can be mighty persuasive at times. So, in we went. And I gotta tell you, I rather liked it. The lady shop keeper did keep a bit of an eye on us, but we ended up striking up a conversation about the character figurines in the cabinet, and she even told us we could open it and have a closer look. My sister and I shared a laugh, and explained that they'd probably all be broken within minutes if we were to do that. She laughed along, and we continued to examine the delightful little ornaments from afar, pointing out the Jemima Puddle Duck one, and explaining to her that my sister had always had an affiliation with this particular Beatrix Potter character, having been called after her on certain occasions when she was much younger. The shop has lots of stunning chinaware, furniture, and home interiors, as well as jewellery and random little knick knacks. We spotted a Victorian kettle, a 120 year old book and a couple of strange animal antlers on plaques...very fetching! If I was after an unusual gift, or an item of vintage furniture, I wouldn't hesitate to repay Christine and her antiques a visit.

Christine is a an avid Francophile and something from the South of France occasionally turns up and finds a good home with me in Northern Ireland. Well worth a visit. Keep looking!!!

I have to say, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to flower shops. In fact, I rarely wander into…read moreone, namely because they make me sneeze, but also because I've never had to buy flowers for anyone. Sad I know. So, with all this in mind, I have to be honest as to my purpose in visiting Floral Creations... It was the 'Gift Room Upstairs' sign that caught me. I'm a sucker for little gift stores like this, and I just could not resist. So, sniffing in the delightful scents that pervade a store such as this, I dandered through the downstairs section (not before I was greeted by the lovely, lovely flower lady behind the counter, who made such an effort to say hello whilst in mid-flow of another conversation with a customer, she has to be applauded). Upstairs was just as I'd imagined. A plethora of wedding gifts, baby gifts, toiletries, cute lamps, those wonderfully wise sayings in sign form (such as "I like my money where I can see it, hanging in my wardrobe), scented candles and other goodies. I picked up a small bag of pot pourri (ooooh the smell), and, noting it was handmade in Co Down, turned it on its top. I nearly collapsed at the price (well, I would have had I not been kneeling) for such a small bag...£4.99! But smelt so good - Mulberry Meadow was the name, and it lived up to every inch of its name. Stuff it, £4.99 it was... The delightful sales lady was even more delightful when I went downstairs to purchase my pot pourri, especially when I couldn't find my purse, began searching frantically for it, and then discovered it to be under my arm. Apparently that happens when you're older, not at 22. Whoopsies. The Mulberry Meadow was beyond beautiful when I opened the bag at a later stage. Ah yes, that stunning scent almost obliterated all thoughts of price. Almost...
