Great product but there's only one problem--they have Terrible customer service! I spent $376 on jeans that were not the correct size and I strictly followed Tata And Yoko's return policy to get store credit but they refuse to credit me despite their Clerk Vincent acknowledging receiving the return in good/acceptable condition. Vincent is very unprofessional and hung up on me when I asked for a full refund after not receiving this credit. I sent the jeans back- paying for the shipping myself -they confirmed reciept and also confirmed that the articles were in acceptable good condition BUT they refuse to give me a credit or a refund? I also called up and spoke with a Manager at Naked and Famous and he tried to blame this on me the customer and tried to state that Naked and Famous was only an affiliate and couldnt help me. the classic gaslamp run around. Result they keep my $376 without providing the product. Then this Manager says: "we've never ever had a customer service problem before --you're the first one." Who needs to deal with thieves--Do yourself a favor and buy jeans somewhere else. In my experience Levis are a lot more reasonably priced and much more accurate on sizing. This company tate And Yoko and their affiliate Bare Naked Denim do not honor credits and stole $376 from me. It's interesting to look at the clear pattern in all the other Yelp Reviews: Almost all 1 and 2 star reviews are from Americans whereas ALL of the 5 stars are exclusively from Canadians. One might come to the conclusion that the Clerks and the Managers at both Tate And Yoko as well as Naked and Famous despise American customers. Yet they take (ie. steal) Americans money. Would have loved to review the jeans I purchased but unfortunately my package got stolen within an hour of being delivered to my building. Despite having security camera video footage of the theft and filing a police report, the most Tate + Yoko could do is offer me a discount code. I understand that the seller is not obligated by law to refund me or re-send the item, but every seller I've had experience with so far would re-ship the item or refund me in the case of shipping issues. I've only had experiences with such issues twice, but this response is quite disappointing. Both the delivery company (who failed to use a secure lock box available in the building) and the seller (who is not approachable with the matter) refuse to correct the situation. Unfortunately I'm not going to consider shopping here again due to this experience. read more

Agree with Big T. Be very careful about their jeans ordering online. I didn't want naked breasts on the tag so I asked for the blank alternative. Historically have been great jeans. Their sizes and style constantly evolve, makes it hard to be a long time customer. Not totally surprised by this but disappointment arises with their online return process. Most notably getting New York type attitude with the flak I got from their customer service team (Vincent). Also note worthy is that their return process is very 1999. Highly suggest not buying through their website, perhaps use another avenue such as Am*z*n or big box store. read more

Poor customer service and poor return policy. I ordered a camp collar shirt from them but received an aloha shirt. After sending multiple photos detailing the mistake, rather than sending me the correct shirt I ordered asap with a return label printed in that package, they instead made me return the incorrect shirt first before they even mailed me the shirt I ordered. I had to take 1.5 hours out of my day to physically print a return label, plus 3 pages of customs paper work, make a makeshift document pouch out of a ziplock bag, and then find a UPS store. Additionally, I am being charged $10 to return the shirt they sent me by mistake (with the promise of a refund when it's returned) but I should not be charged for a return label at all when it was their shipping mistake. This was their mistake that cost me hours of my time with no discount offer or anything. read more

It's great ordering from Tate and Yoko. I'm able to get my hands on some old releases and all the new selvedge denim offerings that they have. The shipping moves fast considering I'm in the US. In regards to some of the reviews I see here, it would do everyone some just to try on jeans, obtain the measurements, then create an excel spreadsheet that includes different brands of denim. It's really on you if you order online without sizing the item properly. On top of that, ordering from another country would naturally require more money to return the product. My bf and i stopped by Tate + Yoko since hes a raw/salvage denim guy. The place was huge and lots of denim and brands Ive never heard of. They're werent cheap by any means but I no denim expert. We were there black friday, the day after thanksgiving, we were there mid morning so it was pretty empty, maybe two customers. they had one person working, Josh, who was by the way, very friendly and helpful. did not pressure us into buy anything. he gave recommendations on what he likes and when it comes to tailoring, what he thinks is a good length. I dont understand all the negative reviews about this place, when it comes to investing in something expensive, online ordering is always skeptical, you really need to be there in person to see and feel the quality. I for one would be frustrated like any of the other reviews if i didnt get what i thought i paid for and the hassle of not getting refunded or ignored. This company has the worst customer service I have encountered in a long time. It is amazing to me that a business like this can still exist. I purchased a pair of jeans online when received they were a bit snug, I requested an exchange however they only offer refunds.....to store credit. This struck me as a bit odd and antiquated so I inquired a bit and discovered that you can never get your money back, so they don't stand behind their product. No problem let me exchange send me a shipping label, nope the customer has to pay for that too, to Canada it was going to cost $60 to ship. I love this place. The staff are kind and welcoming. The decor is fun and unique. The clothing is great and the quality is superb. There are also lots of unique things that really take you out of the outside world into what seems like an odd collectors room. The antique Japanese tapestry and the bottles of snake alcohol make you wonder what makes these guys tick. The feeling is fun, respectful, and a little crazy. I love it. This was the worst customer experience I have ever had. I ordered a pair of jeans based on their provided size guide. Despite carefully measuring an old pair of jeans that fit perfectly and my waist with a tailor's measuring tape, the jeans that arrived were too large. When I asked for an exchange for the proper size, after explaining what happened, I was told they did not do exchanges and they did not cover any shipping on a return. they also only give store credit. I followed their size guide perfectly and when the jeans didn't fit they insisted I incur the initial shipping charge, the return shipping charge, and the new shipping charge for the different size. This back and forth took weeks and the person emailing back was extremely rude and seemed to take pleasure in making it as difficult and expensive as possible for me. read more

absolutely THE WORST customer service. trying to deal with this company has been a nightmare. i bought some naked and famous jeans, paid for shipping etc. didn't fit. the only brand in the world that the jean size i wear didn't fit me. so i send them back to be returned... i have to pay for that (company is based in canada so it cost 3x as much to send it back) i asked for one size larger. they tell me i have to pay for shipping again. i'm not willing to do that. so i email customer service. and not only are the response times super slow, but it's almost as if I'm talking to a robot because all they do is repeat store policy and don't actually read what you have to say. there is no reason or logic behind what they are saying. so i request my money back, and they say they only provide store credit. well I don't want any of their products. so they've essentially handcuffed my money and won't give it back. I asked repeatedly through emails and social media to get my money back and it was like talking to the wall. terrible people. social media manager was super rude too. i would not recommend supporting this company. they claim that they have low prices set for the customers best interest. The Jean's are gimmicky and cheaply made by a company that will not honour the boutique style approach that puts the customer first. The first customer service guy refused to sell me the correct Jean's. And the second customer service person sold me the wrong pair that were hemmed which leads me to believe my $300 Jean's were second hand returns. Now when I was asked to return them for a new pair I'm told I need to pay the $50 priority/tracking enabled postage which is crazy. The cheek. Now they refuse to come back with a solution. Poor customer service. I've been purchasing Naked and Famous products for years from them. This year I ordered a pair of pants for my brother who is the same size and the fit was not accurate. After a few week battle by email they finally said to send the pants in 2 weeks later they sent me and email with a picture of them stretching a pair of jeans saying they're within tolerance. I tried to reach management and got Garrett the person I dealt with by email instead of him telling me he was the manager and I explained to him this was not what I paid for and explained he would be losing a long standing customer and all I was looking was for an exchange or credit so that I could spend even more money with them but he was uninterested in saving a long standing customer but would rather spend more money shipping the pants back which I threw away. Bought my brother 2 pairs of Gstar pants for the same price. Better fit and and customer service. I will never give another dime to Tate and Yoko or Naked and Famous based off of this experience. After being a loyal customer for over two years, it is a disappointment to see that they have a subpar customer service team. They did not have a shirt in my size, (yet on the site it say it is available) they accept my money, and two days later told me that they are out of stock of my size, even though it still says my size is available on their online store. I think their site should be adequately updated; you would think that the article of clothing would become sold out, or taken off the site if they don't have the size or item any longer. But no it is luring in more customers to have the same issues as I. As a result, this is unacceptable. I would never suggest this place to friends or family again, especially with such quality goods they sell, they don't have the quality customer service to back it up. read more

In terms of selection, amazing variety of raw denim and denim in general. Great knowledge base for help for finding the right par or denim. The after service needs substantial improvement. I had recently purchased a pair of N&F which was my first pair from Tate + Yoko. When the hemming was done I waited 2 weeks with now answer... To finally come in store to find out they had lost my jeans somehow... not a great start. Ok I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Second pair was a N&F hand dyed weft, which I asked to put an alternative patch (elephant 10/15 oz patch). Which they way said it will take a week. 1 1/2 weeks later I called they said it was ready... When I drive 20 miles to go get them... They forgot to do the patch change... Overall that took 3 weeks... My latest pair which I got last November Of 15" had a blowout at the crotch which they repaired FREE in February 2016. Another pair I own had a similar blow out in May 2016 which their charging me 25-30$... They say it's because they changed their policies in January 2016 but said that's a free service when they did that repair in February 2016.... They also quoted me 5 days to repair a blowout... More like 10 days they should quote Too much inconsistencies. Their store act needs to get better. They are over promising and under delivering. The lack of competence is unreal. I ordered a pair of hemmed jeans. The first pair arrived damaged. Surprisingly, considering the other reviews, they sent me a replacement pair once I sent the damaged pair back. It was shipped in a measly plastic bag, which may by why they arrived damaged. The second pair arrived unhemmed. I had to ship this pair back before they sent a third pair. They finally got it right after the third try. It only took 6 weeks. I purchased a pair of Super Guy Diablo jeans from Tate + Yoko's site. I tried to gauge the size that I would require. I attempted to do my research, and based upon what I read, I ordered a size up. I am usually a 34. I purchased a 36. Unfortunately, the jeans would not button due to my body type--I have an athletic body. I called Tate + Yoko's customer service to return the item. The individual that answered was cordial and provided me with return instructions; however, that is when the process became expensive. I went to my local NYPS office in Brooklyn, and the clerk informed me that a return would cost approximately $33.00 for standard delivery to Montreal and over $40.00 for express shipping. I called back Tate + Yoko and requested that they pay the shipping. Most companies would oblige in that situation. The customary service rep, though cordial again, told me that they could not because they are a small company. I tried to protest, but they would do nothing. I ended up paying $26.00 at Fedex to return the product. I knew that I would receive store credit upon returning the item, but the customary service rep stated that I would receive back the TOTAL amount I paid--including shipping. I received credit for $183.00 instead of $193.00 like he promised. I had no choice but to order something else on the website, but I will not order from them again. I know that other reviews maintain that people should understand that T+Y is a small company in another country, and as a result, one should understand why they make the return process so costly. However, the legal concept of caveat emptor--buyer beware--should not apply to individuals purchasing 1)expensive, boutique products in 2) a retail sector in which free returns are common. I have purchased garments from ASOS that I have had to return, and these products include a return shipping label free of additional cost. I would understand if Tate + Yoko sold cheaper products, but its reputation has a basis in jeans of exceptional quality and, sometimes, exceptional price. (Some jeans are over $400!) I lost approximately $40.00 in this entire process (which is almost 25% of the value of the product that I purchased), and no one there seems to care. I would recommend other people to go to the Naked & Famous store in NYC (if possible) or purchase these garments from Nordstrom. At least you know that if your clothing does not fit, you will not have to undergo the ordeal of returning them. Naked & Famous sizes are not the same as other products that one might purchase. By the way, you cannot make Tate + Yoko products to Naked & Famous stores. Apparently, they are the same company, but they do not accept T+Y returns. Also, I am also sure that employees wrote some of these five-star customer service reviews. So if T+Y has not stated so in a sufficient manner through its actions, I will say it now: CAVEAT EMPTOR. read more

I am posting this for my hubby. Every time we visit Montreal he has to stop at this store to buy his jeans. He loves this place and he loves the quality of the beans they carry. It is a little out of the way place and it is very unassuming from the outside and you kind of need to know what type of things you are looking for and ring the bell as the door is lock to prevent browsers? Clearly i should have read the reviews on ordering online before i actually did. Purchased a pair of jeans on August 21 and by middle of september i never heard another word about the item. I reached out to them on the 14th of spetember still with no reply. So i reached out again a week latter on the 21s and was told that my mail wound up in the junk pile. Was told on the 23rd they would look into this item get back to me by end of day. I had to email them again on the 28th to remind them about my item and gave them to end of day to figure out where my item is.... by next day, I'm informed that my jeans are lost and they will issue a refund in a week when their team member who handles refunds returns.....i was informed by josh that this would be a learning experience for his team members but really the learning experience was for me and to not support this company..... Got the complimentary hemming, they contacted me prior to make sure I knew that one pair would shrink and the other wouldn't. They did the hemming accordingly and did a great job. I had some issues with ordering and the lack of sizing chart on the item initially, but upon calling the store I was able to get me concerns and questions quickly resolved.
