I was in Malmö for a weekend with a friend and we felt like Indian. We were already in Old Town so we took a look at the Indian restaurants over there, but checked out prices and reviews on Yelp and decided to try Tasty Spot. We ended up making the whole 20 minute trek away from the central area to Tasty Spot - and boy, was it ever worth it! I definitely understand all the five-star reviews - it's not a fluke!
It's a tiny little hole-in-the-wall of a place - you'd probably miss it if you're not specifically looking for it.
The staff are SOO so friendly! They asked us kindly to sit and wait and said it might take a minute since they make everything fresh. They said we could pay afterwards so that we could order any additional items we wanted later.
The menu is fantastic, and much more extensive than a lot of the Indian restaurants in Stockholm. The majority of Indian restaurants in Stockholm are owned by Bangladeshis and most of them have a sort of classic copy-and-paste menu, but here I saw dishes I had never heard of. I ordered biryani (I think it was called...?) and I don't honestly remember what my friend had, but we both were impressed. The food was absolutely delectable, and we got very large portions. The chicken biryani was out of this world, the yogurt sauce was a perfect complement to the fresh cardamom in the dish.
We sat and chatted for probably almost two hours, and eventually the owner sheepishly asked us if we could pay because he had to close the cash register. He was so kind and cute and said he didn't want to kick us out, and he would love for us to stay, but he had to start closing the restaurant so his employees could go.
He said that lots of customers come to him because they know they will always get fresh food and it's worth the wait. And I believe it! The experience seriously couldn't have been better - and the prices are amazing. So if you're in Malmö, go there, you won't regret it! Tasty Spot is the tastiest spot ever! read more
