I asked if the order was ready and if doordash was sending a driver to pick it up and deliver it. The man on the phone sounded very confused and kept insisting I had to come and pick it up. I said it was a delivery order to my house and that a driver is supposed to come take it to my home. He proceeded to say "give me a moment" and then hung up on me. I waited a couple of minutes to see if the doordash order status would update. When it stayed on "preparing order" after five minutes, I called again asking for clarification wondering if there was an issue or something. The same man answered, sounding annoyed and audibly sighing before insisting I needed to come pick the order up. I told him I couldn't, and asked if he needed to confirm that the order was ready with doordash. He then began loudly saying "thank you have a nice day" over and over again, and then abruptly hung up. Ten minutes later the order came (albeit very delayed), and two people stood outside my door repeatedly calling my phone and ringing the doorbell, despite it being a drop off order. They said it said to meet at my door. I never choose the meet at my door option because I have two cats that will bolt out the front door if I have to stand there and speak to someone. I do not know who manages this Bevmo, and frankly, I fear that if I call back, the same rude employee will simply hang up on me. This is unacceptable behavior from Bevmo. I thought employees answering calls needed to be educated and respectful. Not rude and dismissive because they're too misunderstanding of doordash. This is the last time I order anything from this store that can't even handle a simple order for ice cream on time. Do better, Bevmo. Nobody wants to call the store unless necessary, and nobody wants to be met with a rude old geezer with zero understanding of delivery services. Seriously. Ruined my entire week with your "thank you have a nice day, thank you have a nice day" bull. Either help or quit the damn job you incompetent loser.

If you're planning a beach holiday in this part of town, you will probably end up shopping at this exact convenience store. We got into town ahead of our friends, and they requested that we buy a couple of long-handled wood and plastic beach shovels for their kids. They sent us a picture and said they could never find them anywhere except at the beachside shops in La Jolla. We went on a little walk and immediately came across Neighbor-Saver, and sure enough, the shovels were there, right when we went in. The shop was big and well stocked, as clean and nice as it had to be and not even a little bit more. There were toys and apparel for sale, plus all the standard convenience store items and a counter for Thrifty ice cream. We picked up three shovels, figuring our boys might want their own, and a $22 bottle of spray-on sunscreen. The cashier was polite, the transaction seamless and quick. We checked into La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club later that afternoon and the boys and I didn't leave for the next two days. The kids loved playing at the beach, and they were absolutely obsessed with those shovels. My husband did go on a couple of errands, hunting and gathering pizza and wine. He brought back a few decent bottles, and when I asked him where he found them, he said he just walked to the Neighbor-Saver Market. The selection wasn't impressive or anything, but we drank perfectly well. In retrospect, I regret not going back to the market to pick up one more beach shovel. Our friends were right, as it turns out--you can't just buy the same ones on Amazon. I'll have to go back to Neighbor-Savor next time we're in La Jolla. We'll probably be there anyway, for whatever else we need.

It's always been sub par for the area and never a place to go for a kind greeting. A couple days ago, my young daughter wanted to go in so I said ok. Unfortunately we were met by the nastiest cashier, the guy with numerous face piercings. He was so outrageously rude, yelled at us for asking him a question. My daughter was actually scared of him. The other customers in the store were also shocked by his disgusting behavior. Thankfully, we decided to go across the street to the Cheese Shop to see if they had something similar. There, we were met by the most welcoming employee who helped us out and found something that fit the bill. While I never wanted to go into this dilapidated market for anything beyond a bar a surf wax, I'll definitely NEVER go there again.

It was our first stop on a mystery picnic experience. We had our to go order waiting for us, it was a fantastic Charcuterie board. It had cheeses, meats, fruits, and it was delicious. The ingredients were high quality. It is small and cozy inside, and outside they have a few tables with umbrellas and a rocking bench.

I would consider sitting outside, as the vibe inside the shop was a tad negative coming from the older female staffer/owner. Salads, charcuterie plates and sandwiches are their specialty. Their signature sandwich is the smoked turkey and cheese is the most popular and that's what I've tried, along with chips. The sandwich was good but disappointing, because content wise very skimpy as it needed more turkey and cheese therefore not worth it. I had to stack the half sandwiches for pictures to make them appealing. The older female staffer, who appear to perhaps be the owner was rather unpleasant, not nice...I think she may have prepared my sandwich because the sandwich was skimpy and not as splendid I imagined a sandwich would be from this shop not far from my place in La Jolla. There's a wall with all the awards this shop received and with the looks of all those awards, one would think the service would be outstanding from the owners but that was NOT the case, sadly. The youngish female staffer behind the register was very helpful, nice and her positive attitude helped this shop receive a boost in stars. Reluctantly recommend.
