What a disappointment this clinic is. In my review I am referring to the NTP, it's important to specify. I found the folks here to contradict not only narcotic replacement/treatment orthodoxy but to act in contradiction to every clinic I've been to or heard of. If you mess up or relapse, they will literally hold your dose (in other words, not dose you) as well as threaten to lower your daily dose (all the way if need be), risking your recovery in the most irresponsible way.
One's clinic should be a place of refuge, where patients are respected, sobriety is encouraged and compassion is extolled. This clinic hinders sobriety and sanity, and hampers progress. They made me feel as though the years in successful recovery (without using) meant nothing. They could care less. And though they knew me less than a week, they made so many assumptions about me, none of which are true. I have never felt so insecure about my recovery as at this clinic, and consequently feel confident in saying they have failed in their mission.
When I transferred here from another clinic - due to simple geographic relocation, I would never have realized the mistake I was making. I had earned a month of take-homes in my sobriety, and I had the respect and nurturing care of a wonderful staff. One I certainly wouldn't find here at TTC. That first day I knew something was wrong. One, due to their attitudes toward dose levels. They openly and actively discourage patients from raising their dose levels. This should not be something they influence, it is a subjective variable depending on an individual's biology, tolerance and history of usage, method of usage, etc. On the other hand, they treat it politically here. Knowing full well how opioids work, we must assume, still they eschew scientific evidence and precedent. I have reported them to the appropriate agencies at the state and federal levels, but potential patients also must be made aware: You are putting your recovery at risk if you attend TTC. That first day, their demeanor and the things they talked about were clues as to their posture. They're about control and discipline, not recovery and healing. They won't believe you, they'll assume you're in a gang, they'll pretend to know your situation, they will say that you're the same as other patients - primary care patients in other words, and they will drug test you daily, watching you (no privacy assumptions here, the worst and most drastic I've experienced) and treating you like a ward of the state. Their whole operation is that way - treating you like you are in their facility involuntarily. Perhaps this is for a reason and not knowing this, made a big mistake choosing this place. And perhaps that's an accident of this place being located in such a horrible place. Either way, you owe it to your recovery to choose a place staffed by people that care, not wanna-be's that earned some cheap certification and think they now know better than you. They already know your past, present, and future. Don't make the same mistake. Don't choose Tarzana Treatment Centers. read more
