We've been spending a good amount of time in the Magog area this summer, so we've had a chance to…read moretry many of the bakeries in the area and Dorville clearly comes out on top. Patisserie Dorville has a surprisingly wide variety of quality items. Their selection of course includes bread, pastries and cakes/tarts, but also includes local cheeses, homemade jams, chocolate and cured meats. We've tried a variety of their chocolate which has been great. In particular I really love their bars with dark chocolate and berries which are excellent. We've also had a number of their tarts, cakes and pastries. The strawberry-melilot tart in particular was both beautiful and extremely delicious and the chocolate eclairs where delicate and not overly sweet. Just delish! We have also enjoyed the bread that we've tried from Dorville. I must admit that I'm often sceptical when a bakery tries to tackle such a wide variety of items. But here at Dorville they have managed to do an excellent job with a variety of offerings including their chocolate, bread and pastries.

The Long Version: My husband and I were driving from Ottawa to Laval and stopped by this bakery to grab a snack. Everything looked delicious, but we settled on a raspberry cannolo and a chocolate lobster tail pastry. They were $5.95 each. The raspberry cannolo was tasty. The shell was crunchy and the filling was a ricotta cheese filling with raspberries. The lobster tail pastry was even more delicious. One end was dipped in chocolate and crushed hazelnuts. The pastry was rich and flakey and the filling was a creamy chocolatey custard. The lobster tail pastry was larger and I feel it was more bang for our buck. They had lots of pastries including Napoleons and croissants. I had a chuckle when I saw that they had the French-Canadian pastry called Pets de Soeur because it translates to Nun's Farts. Lol. It's spiraled pie dough with butter and sugar. I'm actually not a fan of the taste, but I find the name hilarious. Anyway, they also have breads and pizzas, as well as savoury items like Arancini and Calzones. Staff were pleasant. I would love to return to try other items. They have free parking on-site. It's diagonal parking, and the lot is a bit narrow, so a little difficult to maneuver if the lot is full. Worth the hassle though. Review #100 (2025)

Being avid lovers of all things pastry, and always hunting for croissants as delightful as the ones we've had from Le Grenier à Pain in Paris, we stopped in. First and foremost, the staff were so nice and welcoming, tolerant of our stuttering French (and spoke English well). We tried the apricot croissant, butter croissant, blueberry chausson, and several choquettes. We sat at a nice clean indoor table and enjoyed our stash. Everything was delicious and they did remind us of Paris! Should we be in St Jerome again, we will be back again, happily.
