Car broke down on a cold Winnipeg evening. Had to get the car off the street quickly so it wouldn't be ticketed and hauled off by the city. Called all the big companies and nobody was working that night. Finally, a city worker said he had a friend at Tartan who might be able to help. Made the call, and within minutes a friendly tow truck driver arrived on scene. Towed the car to my garage for a fair price. Good job Tartan! You're the fist place I'll call if I need a tow again. read more

Towed vehicle WITH GIRLFRIENDS SERVICE DOG IN THE BACK. Ticket had a false time on it, got hung up on 3 times while calling to ask if my car was there and explain situation with dog. Manager called me a "fucker" among other names while laughing and saying he does not care about my dog, then. threaten violence on me before hanging up the third time. Showed up and asked about protocol for checking for animals/kids in back, guy immediately flipped blame to "police for writing the ticket" (they didn't write the ticket, nor did the cops tow my vehicle) when I asked again if they look for babies in cars before towing he laughed and said "it happened before". Whole interaction inside towing is on video. Charged $120 plus $100 fraudulent ticket for being parked 2 minutes before we were allowed to on that street and with a City of Winnipeg in front of us obstructing the sign that said we couldn't park. Gotta love that they also DEFRAUDED the City (aka we the people) of $1M for false "winter courtesy tows" and only had to pay back half plus is still contracted for the city. These guys are dirty, nasty, low life crooks who overcharge, steal and have 0 regard for living beings all in the name of "upholding law and order". Screw these guys and anybody who works for such an evil company. read more

Guy was crazy and I couldn't understand him. He just kept yelling like a madman until I walked outside and saw the truck there. I'm also hearing impaired and this was super rude. I felt threatened. Wanted to call police but the guy tried to bribe me. I took the bribe. All in all, a wild experience. read more

if I could rate them a negative number I would! Dr app. At 2, and I Can pay for parking till 330(so I do of course). Heart appointment runs longer then they thought towed by 335 FROM THE HOSPITAL. My jeep was broken down and sitting on a residential street the city was going to do street sweeping on I called tartan towing they were so kind and friendly. Stole my sons car. He called for months asking for it after someone stole it and they kept saying they didn't have it and then sold it

Would not even give a rating. Tartan was sent out by my protection plan. Said would be 90 minutes. Arrived in over two hours. Very cold today. At least I was in a warm house waiting. Could have been a disaster if exposed to cold. Driver used a hand held "booster". Nothing. Said to plug car in and try again in the morning. Said vehicle was frozen. Was not even here 5 minutes. Husband who is somewhat dicey after surgery then hooked up a booster. Plugged in block heater and after a ten minute wait - voila a "good start". Didn't pay anything out of pocket but would NEVER consider this company. I just hope my protection plan doesnt pay them before I can connect with them. Georgieh read more

Horrible! Called about changing a flat tire as I couldn't get the tire off myself. I had the vehicle jacked up and all the lug nuts off already before the driver even arrived. He tried getting the tire off but couldn't. Instead put air in the tire so I could drive to a tire shop. Then charged me 60 bucks! That's some expensive air since he didn't actually complete the job!! Never will use again and warning to all others! read more

My protection plan provider contacted tartan to get someone out to help. When the PP provider called me back they asked if tartan had arrived yet. They had not, so he looked into it. The PP provider found tartan says there was no contact. I'm on a quiet street with my 19month old there was no tow truck. The snow shows no vehicle traffic near my car. Tartan is unreliable and sleazy. read more

Rude customer service and bad attitude from front desk staff. A business that exists only to profit off the misfortune of others. Poor, isolated location, too far away from city centre. Remove your car with no notice of location so that you think your car has been stolen as you stand outside, downtown, in the dark, by yourself holding $5000 worth of camera equipment wondering where your car is. Dangerous protocols that put people's safety into jeopardy when they have found themselves stranded in public locations that aren't safe with no idea where their car is or how to retrieve it. read more

Always great service from the drivers at Tartan! Keep up the good work! As for Anna K's comment, don't park where you shouldn't and you wouldn't get towed. They are not in business to be convenient for you. As for them being rude, you were more than likely pissed that you had your vehicle towed and they are just doing their job as you are when you are at work. read more

Very bad experience with Tartan Towing. They claimed they sent a Booster. It was nothing but a broken battery. They told me that my car had a serious problem and I have to tow it. I told them no and they charged me 60$ for nothing. Later, a taxi driver helped me with his typical jumper cables and the car started very smoothly. I called Tartan Towing management and they simply said they trust their Booster! read more

I have to be honest, this was a very poor experience at best. While the customer service with the person who initially took my call, and the Manager afterwards was good, the experience with the driver was horrible. The driver was unable to understand simple instructions (pick up and drop off address, left car key in mailbox on the house) and called me directly several times and was unable to articulate what he needed. After several phone calls and my calling the office 3 more times to ask for someone to ensure the driver understood what needed to happen, he showed up at the auto mechanic and did not bring the car key as he "couldn't find the mailbox in the car." I would have appreciated a follow up call from the Manager. Based on the experience with the driver and lack of follow up I will not be using their services again. read more
