I will say that the lunch and dinner fare are, in my opinion, better than the brunch, but where else can you drink gallons of alcohol before noon and be considered posh? There are activities and social events nearly every week at either The Hills or Flintrock Golf courses including scrambles and pro tips, bingo and BBQ, happy hours, etc etc. The golf courses (the hills and Flintrock) are the stars of this show, along with the coaching staff. Ron Miller, the director, is a suburb coach. The fairways are well maintained and perhaps because of the rain and aeration plan, very green. The course is challenging, but fun. Carts are readily available and the course is pretty hilly, so even intrepid pedalers will need one. There are plenty of practice areas including a nice putting green which minims the play, a driving range, and there are even 3 academy holes (par 3 through 5) with 3 flags a piece to work on your course management. The renovations since the flooding here last year have improved the place. There's still a lot to be desired for many of the amenities but it's not a YMCA. The dues keep creeping up even though many of us went without a clubhouse for over a year. The course is in need of some love in many ways. Carts are getting extremely long in the tooth and the driving range is an absolute travesty. That said, the staff treats people exceptional and Arcis doesn't really care whether you come or leave. So there is that. 4.25 stars is a more deserving rating.

Arcis ignored a very leaky roof for 6+ years (among many other obvious maintenance needs), resulting in the clubhouse, gym, bar, restaurant, locker rooms and day care being closed for at least 9 months due to flood damage starting in July of 2025. Membership dues remain full price for unavailable services and facilities. They've intentionally mislead members about the restoration timeline to avoid member attrition. Riverplace has so much potential, and great members and staff. Arcis is squandering what should be a Hill Country gem.

The poolside bar service was great, which is not a given when the clientele is sparse. If you were coming in to find a hot party scene on a Wednesday you'd probably be disappointed. But I thought it was great! There's a restroom with showers by the pool, too, so easy to fix yourself up and transition to a post-pool activity even if you're not a hotel guest.

Our boys have been playing weekly since they were 3 & 5, learning about etiquette, healthy habits, and a love for being outside playing golf with friends. Their favorite summer camp is Great Hills Golf Camp! The tennis program is great too - the kids have so much fun and there are plenty of opportunities for adults too - it feels so easy to jump in and start playing no matter what level you are. We cherish our family and friend time on the course, courts, and pool and feel blessed to raise our family in such a great community!

During this process, I discovered that the Yacht Club charged a MANDATORY assessment of approximately $90/mo. This is in ADDITION to the Home Owner's Association for the subdivision. The Yacht club provides a few services. I went to their restaurant a few times and did not think it was all that great. The mandatory membership provides, I believe, a 10% discount at the restaurant which doesn't even cover the tip. I recall the pricing being quite high as well. I am really surprised that someone hasn't filed a civil action against the Yacht Club for requiring homeowners to be members regardless of whether they use any amenities of the Yacht Club. In my parents' case, they did not use any amenities but were still required to pay the monthly fee. THEN...I discovered in order to transfer the mandatory membership, the Yacht Club charges $1500!!! Outrageous!!! One Realtor told me that prospective buyers of the home were turned off by the requirement of the Yacht Club. Another Realtor told me that at least one buyer would not be willing to pay the transfer fee for an entity where none of the amenities would be used.

Capitol Bingo really…read morestands out for a few reasons: 1) Friendly and fun - the staff here is super friendly, can't wait to help out a new person and everyone here is smiling and having a good time. Some of the bingo halls are operated by a staff of grumpy people and it makes the clients grumpy too. North Austin Bingo (see my review) is a joyless pit while this place was a fun time! 2) Affordable. This place has it figured out. Want to play bingo on paper with ink? Only $1 for a card!!! You want a computer, it's only $5 for the session. You want to be a total degen and surround yourself with computers, well at least you wont break the bank. Two computers and one paper were $11 here. Cost me $36 at North Star Bingo and it was horrible. 3) They actually call Bingo here. When the actual Bingo session begins, they treat it like a real game of Bingo. They call the numbers, they give you time to mark them off. Sounds simple, but if you've played at a hall where they just rip the numbers off super fast you know that all the fun is sucked out of the game. They respect that some people want to be entertained, not just gamble. 4) Pull tabs are kept in control. All these places rely on pull tabs to make ends meet, and the customers certainly eat them up. They are not my thing at all, but this place neatly compartmentalizes the games so if you want to play Bingo, you play Bingo during the sessions. Other halls had so many pull tabs and horse race games mixed it it was distracting. 5) It's clean! This can't be said for some of the dingy halls in Austin 6) Just an ok place to hang out. The sound is good. they have a full snack bar with food. The chairs are comfortable. They seem to care to make the experience a good one. If you read my reviews of some other bingo halls, you will see not many care at all. This place cares.
