    Pork Gyoza and Chicken Karaage
    Steve L.

Amazing flavor and fast service. Perfect for a quick lunch in the city. My colleagues decided we wanted something with chopsticks, so our options were unlimited. One had a habit of eating at Toros nearly twice a week and I had never been. So she ordered the Red Tonkotso for me. Wow! The noodles had a perfect silky texture. But the brooth stole the show with a complex flavor of richness, spice and a touch of sweet. The heat was just enough to get your attention without overpowering the dish. We had starters of chicken karaage and pork gyoza. The former came out quickly, hot with just enough breading. The latter was a bit tough but flavorful none the less. Quick service in a simple atmosphere.

A good selection of ramen from Tonkatsu, two spicy versions, miso, shoyu, shio and veggie/ vegan options you are sure to find a winner. Sharing a bowl of regular tonkatsu and the red tonkatsu, I was able to enjoy two creamy broths. I preferred the red with a slight spice that added more flavour. Had to add kimchi to the regular broth for a kick. Toppings are sparse so suggest adding some to enhance the ramen. Standard small bowl comes with half an egg, one slice of pork and spring onions. Would have been good to know before ordering along with the three size options. Standard size is small. Noodles were amazing! Not sure if it's made in house but they were fresh and hard consistency. I enjoyed the meal.

Still on the hunt so tried the non express store again. I came here last year and was disappointed. I tried the express Taro yesterday and again was disappointed. However today I tried the regular Tonkotsu with extra egg extra black oil and chilli oil plus chilli pickle condiments and ginger white vinegar garlic and ramen sauce. Presentation excellent taste excellent noodles top notch Portion size come on guys !!!! But not as good as Sydney COME ON BRISBANE

I had the red ramen. It was ok. Not a fan. I love ramen but i didn't appreciate the taste of the soup or the egg, it wasn't off, I just didn't like it. Friendly staff.

Taro Ramen was in the middle of the city however we had a hard time finding it. It's on the second floor near the escalator (short). So just a tip, bring cash to have 5% discount. We ordered tsukumen (separate soup and noodle) and cheese gyoza. The tsukumen was good except that the soup is not that hoy anymore and has a small serving. It!'s a bit pricey compares to the other ramen bars in the area. The gyoza was nice, but not as extravagant as I have expected. Over all, the place was nice and the food was just right, so 3-star it is.

I've been wanting to try Bunker for the longest time, and today was the day. I love the vine covered hub, which reminds me of a burrow, and of a cafe that I used to visit back in L.A. Instead of getting my usual latte, I went for the bottled ice dark chocolate (5). I'm not the biggest fan of hot chocolate, as it's usually too sweet and heavy for me to finish (I know, strange, because I can finish a whole Chipotle burrito), but I decided that the unusually warm weather called for an iced chocolate. We were greeted by a really friendly barista who helped us right away - and well - the iced dark chocolate and dark chocolate mocha were pre-bottled, so there wasn't much work. The iced dark chocolate, made with organic milk (I think?) and fair trade chocolate, was quickly consumed! It wasn't too sweet, and I would definitely go for it again. The iced dark mocha was also really good, and not at all grainy, which often happens in a lot of mochas. My only complaint was that the bottles were a bit harder to open (I prefer Bean's bottles), and the straws were too short and kept falling in! The drinks were so delicious it didin't matter though....

Suffice to say, if you've not yet ventured to this cafe on Arthur Street, I'd do so pronto. King Arthur is the new family member from the same folks that brought us Merriweather Cafe. Their ethos and value around high quality seasonal food remains and so do the friendly faces behind the counter. Similarly, just as the creation of the menu might has been considered and carefully constructed, the way in which the meals are crafted from the kitchen are given equal care and attention. I've been both for lunch and breakfast now and each time it has been a calming escape with a side of soul food. The gnocchi with lemon and tarragon in their opening days was, in true Goldilocks style, just enough. The serving size that good amount with gnocchi to savor but not be in a land of regret about the quantity you've devoured. And if you're so inclined, treat yourself to a post-lunch treat from their range of baked goods. I'd recommend the raspberry frangipane tart if it's available. Breakfast of lamb ragu on sourdough was hearty and a great winter alternative to porridge or eggs and bacon. Pro Tip: This isn't a large cafe so there may be a little wait during peak times.
