Don't forget to try the gras hoppers, yes they are on the menu and quite good. The drinks were good, especially the margaritas. Everything comes with a generous portion of aguacate and the frijoles were amazing. The salsas were delicious but unfortunately not spicy, although others might think differently. Gotta try this place if you are staying in the Coyoacán.

I walked to the tranquil downtown Coyoacan area and saw La Casa de los Tacos was open, so porque no? The girls were so nice. And they were open with a few diners inside. It was kind of empty and chill, but the ambiance was festive and exciting due to the music and activities going on in el parque nearby. I was so hungry I wanted to eat everything, so I got the tacos con chapulines (HELLA FIRE) and a side plate of arroz con platanos. I also ordered a beer, but that never came out. Their salsas are hella good. Especially that insane truffle one, who knew! It was SO good. The pan fried platanos were so delicious and the perfect little craving I needed for a sweet treat afterwards. They accept cash and card, and make sure you tip you extranjero/turista!

After five days in Mexico City, this was hands-down the best taco spot I tried. Taquería Orinoco…read morehad been on my list for days, but the line was always long and now I understand why. This time there were about 10 people waiting and I finally decided it was worth it... and it absolutely was. The tacos were incredible, the service was fast, and they bring out 5-6 different sauces so you can try different flavors with everything. I sat outside, which made the experience even better great people-watching, amazing energy, and everyone walking by looked effortlessly stylish. Mexico City really is such a trendy, vibrant city. Honestly, I still think about these tacos. I could close my eyes and dream about this place.

Full disclaimer: these are my first tacos in Mexico City. The trumpo was really good!! Highly recommend! The res was good too, but not super standout. The chicharron itself was really good, but I don't know if I love it in a taco. The trumpo with the pineapple really stole the show. It's nice that the 3 tacos come with some potatoes. The potatoes were good! It seemed smashed then fried. Can't go wrong with frying potatoes. Food came out fast! It seems like this place can get super packed and busy, which I would think is a good sign!

Basket tacos are steamed corn tortilla tacos with simple fillings kept warm and served from a basket. These simple creations serve as quick, cheap and easy lunch options for the day workers. Their simplicity is what makes them so incredible; pure comfort food. We ordered a chicharron and papas taco. It was seriously like 10-15 MXN per taco. Gobbled these up with its ultra tender contents. They have a ton of toppings on the side and even a much revered green sauce to add all the flavors. Otherwise, on their own, they are still quite yummy. Eat standing up and pay when you are done, the honor system in full play here. It definitely beat searching down a sit down restaurant or eating at one of the touristy eateries within the Coyoacan Market.

Always delicious and reliable tacos de canasta in Coyoacan!…read more After watching The Tacos Chronicles on Netflix, my husband got in his head that he wanted to try tacos de canasta. The difficult thing about the tacos de canasta is that they "move" and they are usually not in just "one place", so we were happy to find two guys which sell them every day at the same spot! They are conveniently located two blocks from Frida and Diego's house in Coyoacan and in front of a bodega. We tried their chicharron and bean tacos, and they were delicious! Their salsa verde was the BOMB! Tacos de canasta are very cheap and a few pesos can take you a long way. Please don't try to pay with large bills or credit cards. You pay after you finish eating, because you can always order more after eating a couple of tacos. PS: This location is not the one from the show, but I am using it as a reference so y'all know which type of tacos I am talking about.
