I made a trip down to Franklin, Ky., this afternoon to pay a visit to my dermatologist nurse…read morepractitioner, who is with Graves Gilbert Clinic. I told her that I had been hearing some rumblings that Graves Gilbert Clinic was going to be sold, and she said there is some truth to that. Graves Gilbert Clinic has selected T.J. Regional Health as its preferred partner to explore a long-term affiliation. T.J. Regional Health is the parent system of T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. The two organizations are now going through the due diligence process and working out the details of what the long-term partnership will look like. No final agreement has been announced yet. However, after my visit, I stopped by Oscar's Fresh Mex Taco Shop in Franklin. They are a Southern California-style Mexican fast-casual restaurant. They remodeled the old Wendy's restaurant down there, and now it is super clean on the inside, with fresh paint, fixtures, tables and chairs, along with very nice LVP flooring. And the men's restroom was super clean. So I imagine the women's restroom is too. That's one of the things I look for when I visit a restaurant. To me, you can tell a lot about whether the owners take pride in their operation by how clean the restrooms are. And apparently, they do take pride in their operation. The food was awesome, and the service was great. I suppose since it is considered fast casual, they serve the food on paper plates with plasticware. But you get free refills on Pepsi products. I had the Wednesday special of loaded quesadillas for $8.99, which came with a soft drink. The portions were very generous, and I was extremely full when I left. And the food was delicious! I only paid $10.25 total, including my tip. On Tuesdays, they offer four Southern California-style street tacos for $7.99 along with a soft drink. I would definitely recommend checking out this restaurant for the current daily-special prices, because those can change. They also offer burritos, nachos, tacos, rolled tacos, combo dinners, street corn, beans, rice, salsa, queso dip, guacamole, bowls and taco salads, chips and dips, fries, breakfast burritos and tacos, and desserts such as churro bites and raspberry cheesecake bites. Oscar's Fresh Mex in Franklin is definitely worth making a drive down there to try their food, even if you aren't going to the doctor! It's located at 527 N. Main St. in Franklin, Kentucky, and they are open seven days a week. Oscar's Fresh Mex I'd definitely go back

The place is super cute and quaint -- it instantly took me back to Mexico. Inside, it's bright, colorful, and full of charm -- exactly what you'd expect from a true taquería. There are a few booths, one larger table inside, and a couple of tables outside. Many guests were grabbing food to go, but I decided to stay and soak it all in. Service: You order at the counter, and the people there couldn't have been nicer. The hospitality is what every restaurant should strive for -- warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. Food & Drinks: I had the shrimp tacos, and they were done right: soft corn tortillas topped simply with onions and cilantro. The salsas were just as authentic and packed with flavor. I went for my favorite, the salsa verde, and of course grabbed a Jarritos. The only thing that could have made it better? If they had my favorite flavor -- grapefruit. A minor inconvenience -- the mandarin was equally delicious. Overall: If you haven't been, this is a must-try. Do yourself a favor and check out this authentic taquería -- you'll be glad you did.
