We had a great time dining at Taqueria Jalisco tonight. The atmosphere was happy busy and authentic, and the table-staff and kitchen staff all looked like they were enjoying being together and taking care of the customers. The restaurant was immaculate. The tables were bussed immediately as soon as a Party left. The temperature and noise level were both right where they should be. The menu has common appetizers and common TexMex dinner selections- chicken, beef and seafood are all available, and pork was also mentioned in a couple of dishes. My wife and I both ordered the combination platter. I had a beef taco, and she had chicken. Also on our plate was a lettuce and tomato nest, large Chile Relleno, and cheese enchilada. There was enough rice and beans included on our plates to make anyone happy. The tastes were great the temperatures were perfect and the quantities were generous. Though my husband's enchilada plate was good, I think this was THE WORST Burrito I have ever had! Whoever put it together, had no clue how to roll up a burrito. There was very little meat in it. Mostly beans, lettuce and tomato. And on top of that, there was NO FLAVOR TO IT. I did not want hot sauce / salsa and yet all of the other burritos I get (even from Taco Bell) have flavor! In fact, the frozen burritos you buy at Walmart or Amigos are better than the burrito I got today. I ate about 1/4 of it and threw the rest in the trash. I was very disappointed because it wasn't cheap. The last burrito I got from there wasn't even put together. It was just a tortilla with some meat and sour cream in the take out tray. Not even any lettuce or tomato. If I was the owner, I would be embarrassed at what passed for a burrito ... at least the burritos I've gotten. read more

When ordering "super tacos" (loaded with condiments), consider asking them to go easy on the shredded cheese -- it was hiding the best parts. Very friendly staff. This is some serious Mexican food. In high school, it was my favorite spot for lunch, and to this day, it's the only reason I've ever bothered to drive through Hereford since I graduated. I had some business to attend to in Hereford and saw this little place tucked away and I am a sucker for trying little Mexican places. I ordered the Jalisco Burrito Plate with beef. The portion size was pretty big and the plate had a decent taste to it. It was really nothing special. I have been wowed by many small Mexican places in Texas and this one was run-of-the-mill. It was a decent and filling lunch. The house salsa that they serve with the chips is the best part. Spicy and with a great taste to it. The Horchata was also very good. Our server was a little lacking in service skills, but it was still an enjoyable lunch. If I am in town again I would consider giving it another try and ordering something different. read more

Great food for a reasonable price. Service is quick. Lots of locals come because they were really busy for a Monday night. The only thing I didn't care for was no bar to sit at and children were running around the restaurant almost continually.
