There is a good menu which varies on a daily basis. On Sunday's there's an option to partake in the 'Carvery', a feast of fleshly delights with all the trimmings. I mean of course, roast beef, pork and lamb. The quality is superb and the attention to detail is faultless. Clean loos, a kids playground, outside seating, regular events, excellent disabled access and really lovely staff make this a charming place. Do drop by if you're in the area.

I used to be a massive fan of this place but unfortunately recently the food quality has declined…read moreand the last visit we were met with the most confrontational and arrogant manager I have ever met in a restaurant. When we were told that that didn't serve tequila as a shot, he then proceeded to debate the details of if we were even allowed to have a whiskey without ice in it. We decided not to get another drink. Then as we were about to leave, he came from behind the bar to square up to us/me like a drunk would when trying to cause an argument. I am lost for words to describe this action. Continuing to debate his rules over if we could have whiskey with or without ice and why they don't' serve tequila. Finally allowing us to leave, he then appeared to boast to his friends (perhaps 'regulars') in the bar with his back to us. I'm not going to recount the whole story here, but suffice to say, I've been to many food and beverage establishments, and reviewed my fair share on here as you will see. I'm pretty sure this is the worst attitude towards customers I have ever encountered. We now have a new 'local' and won't be returning here.

Wow, this place needs a little work. I don't mind small rooms and I am ok with a little noise, but…read moreI do not want mildew growing in my shower. We understood this place could have a little noise because of being over the restaurant/night club. We thought that is ok we are staying during the week. What no one said is the walls are so thin that you can hear everything going on in the room next door. We heard our neighbor's phone conversation, every time he got up to go to the bathroom, everything. Breakfast was noting to write home about, but the most disappointing was the second day they had run out of salmon/did not order it so what we wanted wasn't available. Ok that we can understand, but not telling us this fact for about 20 minutes after we ordered that makes no sense at all. Thank goodness we were not in a hurry because let me tell you who they had working the breakfast area just did not care. It included items off their menu and cold cereal, yogurt and toast. If you are looking for no frills, cheaper accommodations. I personally would not recommend this place to anyone.

Our family (2 adults and 2 children 4 and 3) had a lovely meal and really enjoyed the experience. The staff couldn't have been nicer, the mixture of young families and groups of older adults mixed well as there is plenty of room between tables. I loved the braised lamb shank, and the ice cream was to die for. Having had such as good evening meal with the family, I was really surprised to read some of the negative reviews on here. Personally, I wish I had found it earlier in our stay, as I would have visited much more often! I would high recommend on my experience this evening and will certainly book again if I am in the area.

The pub bit isn't much different than most pubs. Loud music, sports on TV, regulars milling around. Oh, and they have a Star Wars pinball machine.
