Definitely No.1 Dim Sum in Hamburg!…read more I'm from Japan and I've tried many Chinese Restaurants and Imbisse in Hamburg. As for Dim Sum, Xiao Xiang is the best in Hamburg! Besides Dim Sum I tried "Ma Po Tofu". It was a bit salty for me, but it was not bad at all (it's good to eat with rice). If you are craving for delicious Dim Sum, you should try this restaurant!

The chefs/owners make their dim sum THEMSELVES--no deep-freezer factory-made dumplings here. And one tastes the difference immediately. We tried two types of Har Gao, Shu Mai, Rice-Crepe rolls, chicken feet, and wan tan soup. Everything was fresh and fantastic. Generous sizes, too. The extensive menu features Hong Kong and Cantonese-style dishes. The decor is fun--strands of colorful lights complement the indoor waterfalls and gardens. Relaxed but nice. Can't wait to return and eat my way through the menu! :-)

Pretty good authentic Chinese restaurant not far from the water and the piers. I felt like it was…read morein a quieter part of town as it was in the opposite direction of most of the popular/touristy areas. Decent sized restaurant and our group went at the perfect time. It was mid day during the week and it was not busy at all. We sat at a table with a lazy suzy which is great for groups so everyone can share. The food was good and it was authentic. There were a few European twists but that is to be expected. I had the fried rice and a brisket noodle soup. Everyone shared our dishes as well and everything that I tried was good.

Ok, the food isn't bad, but it's one of these menus that's like 45 pages long. It has pictures of…read morethe various dishes but you can't really tell what's in the dish. The descriptions or mainly in German and Chinese, with brief English translations. Also not helpful. BUT I found my go-to dish, kung Pao chicken. But when I tried to order it the lady wouldn't let me. She literally scratched it off the list of numbers I had written down for our group. No idea why. Certainly not because there wasn't any chicken! At any rate, the 6 of us managed to get our order in. A couple of dishes we didn't recognize, but this has happened to me at more than one Chinese place. They just serve you whatever. The food was good, served hot, and the service was acceptable. The only thing I sent back was the mushroom tea (what??). I asked if they could just please bring regular old tea. Now, here's the kicker: the bill can to 125€, which isn't bad for six people. They didn't accept cards, but that wasn't an issue either since I had plenty of cash. I handed the lady 150€, and she wouldn't take it because it wasn't enough tip!!! Are you kidding?? She was super aggressive about it. My cousin, who speaks German, started asking "what?" and soon they were arguing! I pulled the150€ back and have her exact change. NO tip! Because of this, I won't be going back since she'd probably serve me spicy crispy lung (yes, it on the menu!)

Frechheit.
