However, as a pub it actually wasn't all that bad, though of course they didn't have a huge range of beers on tap, though that is to be expected out in the country. However, I did find the service to be quite friendly, and the other thing was that they did have quite a nice beer garden out the back. Ok, it wasn't hugely crowded, but that probably had a lot to do with the time of day I was passing through.

It's simple and very casual and the portions are large but unfortunately average. We enjoyed our filet mignon's but I wasn't crazy about the sauce they put on top. Food - we ate dinner and breakfast here. Both were honestly really good - pub classic food done well. There were some ill behaved kids screaming like banshees but not the hotel's fault. Staff - uniformly pleasant! Other customers - really friendly! Entertainment - so like most hotels/pubs, expect a small gaming room. This one had maybe 12-15 machines. I won a bit, I lost a bit and then the gaming gods smiled upon me with a major $2400 bonus. $$$$$$ - five stars!

In fact, I ended up making my way back here a couple of times, namely to get my daily fix of good craft beers, of which they had plenty. The atmosphere is also pretty good, and they seem to have put of lot of effort into making this pub a great place for the young, and young at heart. We stayed in the Hay Suite which had a bedroom with a large flat screen TV and a small lounge with a gas fireplace. These were connected by a spacious well-equipped bathroom.
