I went into tangles to get a trim. I washed my hair before I set out and when I found the business and walked in I asked for a trim on my recently cut shag. I got the cut and all she needed to do was take an inch off all around the other cut. When I was done and went to pay for this 8 minute trim I was told 45.00 WHAT? 45.00 for a trim on washed and dried hair and the next morning my beautiful shag cut had a path down the middle! What happened? I was definitely taken advantage of 45 for a trim is insane in this economy where people cannot afford food. I will never go back to a place like that again. My daughter was visiting from CA. & got her hair done by Carrie. My daughter was VERY specific as to what she wanted done (basically peek-a-boo highlights of 2 shades of blue) She personally showed Carrie a picture & Carrie stated she could do this. Well, what my daughter ended up with was a SHOCK!! Her entire head of hair was aqua blue & an ugly green color!! We called & talked to the manager but they couldn't get my daughter back in for 3 days! This was so traumatic to my daughter & it completely ruined her vacation. When she returned, not only did they (the store manager Jennifer & Carrie) want to charge my daughter for "an extra service" but they stated that adding brown to her hair would give it a muddy look. Carrie also flat-out LIED & stated that my daughter had NEVER personally showed her a picture of what she wanted. Really??!!! Carrie also did not feel comfortable doing the correction because she stated "SHE'S NOT A COLOR SPECIALIST & only cuts hair"!!! What the....!!??? Why on earth did Carrie even agree to the job in the first place if she doesn't know how to work with color? All we wanted was for Tangles to fix my daughter's hair or give us a refund. Do not go to Tangles! Save your money and go elsewhere. We contacted tangles when my cousin had her hair professionally bleached. The original salon ended up not having the color she was looking for, and we decided to look elsewhere because she had a specific color she wanted (aqua and dark blue). We called tangles, and they assured us that they had the colors and could do it. The next day my cousin and I arrived at the salon. Carrie took her right away, and my cousin showed her a picture of what she wanted. She said she would get the colors, and we were excited. After a couple of hours, I came back, and my cousin's hair was green! We did not see the multiple colors like we explained that she wanted, and Carrie said she did them. Her excuse was that since her hair was already bleached, the dark blue isn't as evident. It didn't make sense, and we left. My cousin was in shock, and that night she broke down. We examined her hair closer, and there was still a ton of hair that was never colored! She told me that Carrie only used one tube of color on her and that she didn't have enough but tried to make it work. We called and spoke to Jennifer, the manager, and asked what happened. She told us that Carrie never saw the picture that we sent before coming, but that was a lie because my cousin showed Carrie directly during the appointment the following day. Jennifer scheduled us an appt again on Tuesday so they could fix her hair. Fast forward to our follow-up appointment... the manager and Carrie were there and said they would put the dark blue in. We wanted brown too, though, because she had this awful olive-green color from her hair not being dyed correctly. It turns out that Carrie never separated her naturally brown hair from the colored hair, so it had horrible colors throughout her hair. Carrie explained to her manager in front of us that she doesn't feel comfortable doing her hair since she doesn't specialize in it and if we can get an appointment with her co-worker to correct her hair. My cousin and I were nervous to proceed. She also told us that if she added brown back to her hair to cover up their mess, it would be extra, and it would look muddy. Carrie then told my cousin that she only cuts hair and doesn't do color. We were livid and left feeling helpless, and we didn't want her to mess up my cousin's hair any further. Her mom tried calling the next day to get a refund, and Jennifer told us no. We tried talking to the store manager, and she also refused to give her our number for a callback. Jennifer said after we leave a bad review, she might call us back. We are angry because Jennifer then continued that she never told that Carrie could dye hair and never knew what my cousin wanted. All I can say is "WOW". I just recently moved to NC and was SO nervous to try a new salon. I'd called salons in the past week, considering booking an appointment, but didn't follow through due to a lack of customer care and professionalism, but after a few moments on the phone with the Tangles staff -- I knew this place was a cut above the rest. I had an appointment this afternoon with the lovely Venus & I cannot begin to describe how happy I am with her work. It is so rare that you leave a salon feeling like your hair is **exactly** the way you envisioned it in your mind's eye, but today I definitely did just that. Venus was kind, attentive, and patient as I tried to describe the cut I had in mind. In no time she brought my idea to flawless fruition. The Bb. products used at Tangles are amazing and the staff is happy to make suggestions on which products to use in order to achieve and maintain your desired look and the health of your hair. I think I've found my new go to salon in the area. I had Lisa and was really glad I did. She massaged my scalp well during the shampoo and I was sorry it didn't last longer. She was attentive and listened to what I wanted. For example, I told her that my hair grows fast and I was uncertain trying anything too different. She responded that I could go with something basic and if anything changed, I could come in within a couple of weeks for a free touch up. Very nice layout. They just recently remodeled and it looks great. Very clean and organized. Staff are friendly. I know this may seem nitpicky, but their website states they offer their clients a variety of beverages. I wasn't offered this during both of my visits and was somewhat disappointed. It's not enough of an issue for me to take away stars, but it would be nice to have that extra bit of service, especially because it's summer and a refreshing drink is always appreciated. Also, if you're going to make a point of highlighting it on the website, it should be followed through. Follow up I came in for a touch up today (which is 5 days after my original haircut) because I found more split ends and decided it would be better to shorten my hair an inch and touch up the fringe. Lisa was happy to oblige me and it wasn't rushed. She made sure I liked the results. It is so reassuring to know that she appreciates the fact that a new haircut sometimes takes getting used to and customers can change their mind. ** I am not certain whether all the stylists will do a free touch up. It sounds like if they do, you have to go back to that stylist. When I called to schedule my touch up, I made sure to specifically ask for Lisa. Price Their base price for a haircut and blowdry, including washing, is $43. They charged me $47. I'm used to quality haircuts for $20, but I'm Asian. hahaha... Given the prices of other salons I've seen in the area, I suppose this isn't so bad. Final Answer Originally, I was going to give this place 3 stars, but the fact that I could come in for a free touch up bumps it up to 4 stars. The first time I came here to get my hair done I had an amazing experience, Jamie was fun, friendly, down to earth and made it a point to understand exactly what I wanted before we started. She made sure to explain things so I could understand exactly what and why she was doing what she was doing before she did it. The second time I came here I was expecting a very pleasant experience... Boy was I wrong. To start off, I called to try to book an appointment with Jamie again and they said she wasn't working on the day I wanted to come in. Since I had to have an appointment on that specific day I made an appointment with someone the recommended was good with highlights and lowlights. I walked into the store on the day of my appointment and Jamie was there working, they had blatantly lied to me because I guess her schedule was fill for that day. Then, my hair stylist did her consult; however, she was not understanding what I wanted. We talked through it and she asked to give me a quote. She then stated it would be about $290 for what I wanted to get done. This right here was crazy to me because I have been getting my hair done the same way for 10 plus years and I have only ever paid $210 max INCLUDING tip. At this point I had a bad feeling but decided to stay anyways. She did a decent job with the color; however, my roots or the most important part look like I barely got anything done. Not to mention the entire time my stylist was gossiping about her old company and I could hear stylists/the front desk people gossiping about clients... So unprofessional. First off let me just say I'm very late on making this review. At the time when I had my hair done which I got the Keratin treatment done by Mariana she clearly had no clue what she was doing. I was very upset because I've had this treatment done several times before. Let's just say before she even started my hair she asked me if I've ever dyed it before I told her no. She say's are you sure cause it looks like it's been dyed I then said again no I've never in my life dyed my hair she looks at me and says I need you to be honest because of the treatment I'm putting in your hair. I'm thinking to myself are you f**king kidding me, so right there I was pissed cause she was excusing me of lying when I clearly told her I've never dyed it before. I have blonde hair and just moved there from Hawaii and so the sun makes my hair look like I have highlights and yes I explained that to her as well, but it didn't seem like she believed me still. Anyways, after all that she finally started on my hair and the way she did it was clearly not right when your get a straightener put in your hair you don't blow dry someone's hair all over the place the blow dyer should have face down and I only sat there for 30 minutes when it usually takes 3 hours and tried telling her this and she got so nasty with me, but when your paying $350 you expect the person to know what their doing. Well she was so rude and started yelling at me with people all in the salon and the owner had to come over and tell her to walk away. Let's just say she got NO TIP from me and I still had to pay. Oh and my hair looked like sh*t and the treatment didn't work. After all that I waited 6 months and went to Florida where I'm from and had someone I know do my hair and they did a fabulous job and that was worth the $350. I would never go back here again the owner was unprofessional she should have done a better job at dealing with the situation and the stylist Mariana was the worst. If you don't want your hair to look like crap and deal with someone so rude and clearly thinks your a liar then I wouldn't go here, or to her!!!!!!!! Yes, I did have an appointment with another salon they told me they do the Keratin treatment, but when I got there they said the girl was new and didn't know they didn't do that there. STYLISTS BEWARE! This place is run illegally. They have a summit system set up to where basically your commission never goes up. They literally take 60% of your money. They charge you for extra color and if other stylists don't check out color that's already paid for. They also take 3% of your tips. Every meeting at this place is just a manipulated meeting to scare you into thinking that Tangles is the best salon to work that has all these benefits and it's not. There are other salons that at least give you 50% commission and don't rob you of your tips. Not only this but they also expect you to stay at the salon on a set schedule and will not pay you hourly if you're not making any money which is absolutely illegal. Also NOT FAMILY-FRIENDLY. Made an appointment for my daughter to get a section of her hair dyed pink. They took my deposit and appointment was set. 2 days later I get a call and they say they can't dye her hair because its black. Now I know that was a lie because my friend is a regular there and gets her BLACK HAIR dyed blonde very often. So in reality the real reason which I would have preferred HONESTY about. Is they can't do kinky hair. Simply being honest upfront would have been respected. I'm only giving 3 stars because my stylist was sweet and fixed my hair when I came back. Initially, I asked her to cut off 8 inches and add some layers to my hair. It looked fine when I left because she blow dried it and the tips were curled in. When I got home and flat ironed it my hair was extremely uneven and my "layers" were heavy at the bottom, not many layers. I did go back 2 days later when they opened again and she fixed it for free with no issues and it looks great now. I don't believe it was worth the $43 I paid to have it so uneven and have to drive back to get it fixed. read more

I'm a military wife and having a military life for 33 years requires a lot of moving. When we first moved to NC I was looking for a good hair salon. (I'm very picky with my hair) I was recommended Tangle Salon by a group of friends. The time I was a client at Tangle Salon and I was very happy. My first appointment was with Jamie. She did an excellent job and and I loved her. My following appointment, I wasn't able to booked with Jaime but, Heather was great and she did an amazing job as well. After that, Heather was the one that worked on my hair. I wanted to be clear that Jamie and Heather did a great job and were wonderful. With that being said, this review has nothing to do with them. The reason that I'm giving one start is this : After my last appointment, I made a follow up appointment with Heather to color my hair. My appointment was cancelled due to COVID-19. When everything started to opened again, I called to make my hair appointment again. I was told that I had to pay a deposit unless I made an appointment on my last visit. I explained to the receptionist that I did and that my appointment was canceled due to Covid. I made a hair appointment for Friday. I stopped by after work on Thursday to double check the time scheduled and they told me that my appointment was cancelled because I did not pay the deposit. I was very disappointed at the way I was treated. The fact that I made my follow up appointment after my last hair appointment and it was cancelled was not considered. That's not what bothered me the most. The fact that they didn't care to called before cancelling the appointment or they way I was told that my appointment was cancelled and they didn't even try to rescheduled or make the customers happy. I know for a FACT that they gave that consideration to other clients and they didn't request deposit because their appointment was cancelled due to Covid. That's why this review has one start. I arrived early for my Saturday morning appointment, and was happy to be let in a few minutes early, and even surprised with a sweet new client gift bags complete with referral card, discount on a specific service, take home services menu, shampoo/ condo sample and even two fun size pieces of candy! They clearly go the extra mile to make their clients happy and comfortable. I had a formal styling appointment with Leslie, she was excellent. Her attention to detail was amazing making sure my hair looked absolutely perfect. She was very open to discussion as we were sort of deciding how to style, and let me make suggestions. I was looking to get my hair done so I called around and I got an appointment at Tangles. I read good and bad reviews before entering the business. It is located on a very busy street which is not ideal and seemed very dangerous entering and leaving their parking lot. My hair dresser was Laura Peachey. I did NOT request her she was the stylist that was recommended for what I was looking to get done. After checking in with the front desk I sat down and waited, Laura came up and introduced herself. She did not seem happy at all that she had a client. Just from the first 10 seconds of meeting I felt that she would rather be anywhere else doing something else. She took me to her chair and asked what I was looking to get done. I let her know that I wanted and what look I was trying to achieve. She then asked about the last time I gotten highlights and my hair done period. I let her know it was well over a year ago. She literally started to stutter and make excuses why it would be hard to do my hair. After that I started to get upset because I have gotten my hair done plenty of times and have actually had damaged hair. Im not a hair dresser myself but I know enough to know my hair is not damaged and or has not been bleached or is currently a crazy color to where you have No Idea how to go about doing my hair. I was under the impression that she was making excuses because she did not want to be at the salon today. Long story short this lady wanted me to sign a Wavier stating that I understood that my hair might not come out the way I wanted it to and that I could not hold her responsible. Before I cancelled my appointment with her I asked her if she was uncomfortable doing my hair and or inexperienced. She told me that she has had "some" experience and that neither were the case. Never the less Laura Peachey was unfriendly from the beginning and did not give me any confidence that she was experienced in doing hair. EVERYONE PLEASE GO ELSE WHERE. This place is beautiful on the inside so don't let the outside fool you! I love going here when I can. That being said, it is a little pricey! You definitely get a high quality but it's much more expensive than other places in the area. Also, it is extremely difficult to get a timely appointment. The only way to get in is to book at least two weeks ahead. That is extremely annoying but I do like the book online option. All in all, I would recommend but be ready to pay more than what you expect (if and when you can get in). read more

I LOVE LOVE this salon, being new to the Fayetteville area, it took me a while to find a salon similar to the one I went to in NY. Genavee ROCKS!!n. She has a fantastic personality, very easy to talk to, my first visit she cut and colored my hair. Everything was absolutely perfect, great pricing, I have medium length hair, very thick and was charged about $120 give or take a few dollars. I then went back the following week and had a keratin treatment done, I was so impressed, she surpassed my expectations, I usually paid $175 for "half" a treatment, I paid $250 for full treatment, which was very reasonable. I can't give Heather enough stars. A few days before my wedding, I did such a bad bleach job that my hair was falling out in massive clumps. They got my an appointment the same day I called and I went in in tears. Heather turned it all around. She not only completely fixed my hair but made me feel like everything would be just fine. She was kind and super understanding. I never once felt dumb or terrible for the mess I had created. After she fixed everything, I got compliments on my hair. And she did an amazing purple color! First, I want to say that Tangles is a really cute and clean place. :) You are greeted by a friendly face when you first walk in and you can tell they take care of their customers! :) Secondly, I knew before I got there that I wanted to cut an extensive amount of hair off so I made sure to have pictures of what I had in mind. Andrea was so sweet and introduced herself when she came to get me from the waiting area. She asked for me to show her pictures so she could get an idea then she gave me advice on what adjustments needed to be made so that I could pull my hair up and everything still. She did the perfect cut and showed me how to style it and everything before I left. She is awesome and so sweet! :) I am so glad I have now found a hairdresser in this area. My hairstylist, JACKIE, was AMAZING!!! I just moved to Fayetteville a month ago and I'm so glad I requested her to fix my blonde hair. She got the perfect icy tone that I wanted. I went to the salon, yesterday, for a haircut and color--I have very short hair. Prior to setting up the appointment I asked for a stylist with experience cutting short hair--they gave me a Level 3 stylist. The color did not entirely cover up the gray in my hair--the stylist did not cover roots in an even manner, she had the color saturated in some places and barely on in others--she had to stop in the middle of applying the color to go make up more color; she could not judge the amount of color needed for someone with a pixie cut. The haircut is one of the worsts I have had--the stylist does not know how to cut pixie styles and left me with one side uneven and both sides uncut but with the top shaped like a fin. This stylist lacks the confidence and competencies to cut short hair. A short hair cut at a minimum takes 40 minutes--she had it cut and styled in less than 15 minutes; after it is styled it is difficult then to continue cutting with all the product in the hair. The salon's customers on the day I went had long hair, which may be where their expertise is concentrated; anyone with short, pixie and edgy styles this is not the place to visit. This salon has a stylist/management that should be embarrassed to have let a new customer leave the establishment looking like the mess I did: I did not go in looking like that, showed the stylist a picture of MY hair style when fixed and explained what I wanted. Very disappointing experience, lack of experts on premises and poor work ethic! They are in the business of selling products not in a person looking good, which would actually bring them more business as a person with a great cut is a walking advertisement. read more

I read reviews before making an appointment and really expected better, especially since I paid $217 for a cut, blowout and bayalage, which took over 4 hours...I was almost late for work. I was left sitting at the sink for 30 minutes to process in between other clients because it was only supposed to take about an hour or two, tops. I understand everyone's hair is different and processes differently, but if she would have just been honest with me and told me that my hair wouldn't take, I would have appreciated that a lot more. Now my hair not only looks like crap, but it feels like broom straw. It's going to take forever to get it back to somewhat normal. I felt like I was robbed when the girl up front told me how much it was...$217 was ridiculous. The girl who cut my hair was nice but I wish she would have been more up front with me. read more

I just moved here and had to find a new stylist . I went to tangles and Marianne was my stylist . The salon is very nice !!! i ave a very short pixie cut and she did an amazing job!! I can't wait to go back! Everyone in the salon was very friendly and professional . read more

I would recommend them highly! I particularly like Sara, she is consistently excellent, detail oriented, gives great advise and is open to whatever you want to do with your look. Great customer service, they are professional and organized. Their Bumble and Bumble products are great and I use several of them . read more
