This small little restaurant on the busy South Road sure does pack a flavoursome punch. I went…read morethere for the banquet with a large group, and the atmosphere was very nice. They played music videos on the TV which were enjoyable and really made it quite a nice evening. Food was excellent. For $27/head, the proportions were more than reasonable and I got extra takeaway containers organised for lunch the next day. Corkage is also $6.50. Curries are also served separate from the banquet at a reasonable $16.95. The entree of pappadums was served with onion chutney and rosella sauce. I never knew that pappadums worked so well with rosella however this was quite a nice experience. The pappadums were cooked nicely too, not too oily and very similar to how I make them at home. Spiced chicken and vegetable samosas were also served as an entree with a yoghurt sauce. These were very tasty and looked like fried chicken, however in a much nicer, tastier and less greasy batter than KFC. There was a good variety of vegetables in the samosa and the balance of flavour was very well done. As for mains, there were four curries served including butter chicken, lemongrass, lamb and beef. There was briyanni and steamed rice served alongside the mains, along with Dahl and yoghurt. All of these mains were tasty, well spiced and seasoned. The curries were spicy but sill nice, there are no vindaloo's in the banquet however these are available for those who want to clear out the sinuses. This was served with a soft and fluffy nann bread that was excellent at soaking up all the excess liquid of the curries. The curries were a tad watery but if you order extra nann, this can made a very pleasant attribute. For the dessert, a serve of icecream along with a small Gulab Jumun (a donut in a sweet scented sauce). This was a very nice way to round the evening and albeit small, was quite pleasant. Overall, a lovely evening with great food, spices, flavours and ambience. I will return to this small yet cosy restaurant.

So before you take my advice I don't eat Indian food so I can't comment on what the food tastes…read morelike other than second hand info (my family said it was A-OK). They are in a small shopping centre with plenty of easy parking. They offer lunch as well as dinner. They do have a lunch special of all curries for $7.90 including rice to dine in or take away. So a great cheap option for lunch then continue with your shopping. It's quite small inside but set out nicely without lots of clutter. And it never seems to be completely packed out when I have been there but maybe book for an evening meal or larger groups to save disappointment. They do also have a free delivery service within a 4km radius for orders over $39. Their prices actually seem really cheap compared to other indian restaurant menu's I have looked at. Have attached the menu for you to check it out yourself before you go.

It doesn't look like much from the looks of the restaurant but the food is surprisingly really…read moregood. The decor needs some work but I can't fault the food at all. We ordered takeout and had to wait double the amount of time they said it would take (they said 15 minutes it actually took 30) but it was well worth it and they apologised and were very friendly so I don't mind at all. The food is fantastic value especially if you order one of the meal deals which are for one, two or 'four or more'. In these deals you get rice, a variety of curries of your choice, entrees etc. My family and I ordered the 'four or more deal' since there are four of us and there was so so much food! I think we probably would have been fine to order the meal deal for two. This isn't a bad thing though because now we have plenty of yummy leftovers. I highly recommend the chicken tikka masala. There is a huge variety of vegetarian meals, plenty of naan breads, heaps of entrees and even a couple of deserts. I'll definitely be returning but I wouldn't like to dine in.

Junk mail, who would have thought you would serve me so well? Thus leading me to idyllic Indian…read morebliss. Meanwhile this brings me to my next question, which is, what's better than discovering that there is an Indian place just 5-minutes away? I would say an Indian place that lives up to desired expectations, and is cheaper than the standard counterpart. I don't mean to go all Bollywood on you, but Goodwood Tandoori- Shil nzhoo! I love you! My boyfriend and I rocked up here after we craved food, and wanted to remain in close proximity to my house when it came to devouring it. We would have dined within the premises however we arrived after they had technically shut. Luckily, and as already implied, they also cater for take out. Its headquarters are not the most fancy of Indian restaurants, however you don't exactly go to Goodwood road to dine 5 stars do you now? Especially when there is a Barnacle Bills in the same mini complex of shops. The food is prepared quickly, and in my experience, I couldn't fault it. New discoveries such as these make me happy. I can't really explain it. We ordered spicy (well, spicy to me) chicken curries, which were a good serving size and smelt delicious. All up two curries, adequate rice, garlic yogurt and a couple pappadums set us back just twenty-two bucks. Not bad. The final test of judgement was the most important, the taste test. Thankfully this was enough to seal the deal and the bf and I remained pretty thrilled with the results. Two happy chappies. Good work Goodwood Tandoori, oh and thanks for the junk mail.

McLaren Woodlands is a new Indian restaurant, which also offers 15% off your first order if you…read moreorder take away or delivery via Eat Now's website. Classy dark colours make it look inviting from the street. Inside is a nice lounge to wait on near the entrance and classy dark wood tables and chairs. Cheery fresh flowers adorn the counter and tables. Staff are friendly and polite. The order is ready almost exactly 30 minutes from when we ordered. It's handed over in a large bag as well as a milkshake cup for the mango lassi. Everything was well packaged, the samosas and naan in foil liked bags, one had helpfully been labeled Potato Naan, and the balance in take away containers which were full to the brim, again one of which had been labeled to help you when you unpack. The samosas ($4.50) had a nice crunch on the outside and were a deep golden brown colour. The filling was nicely spiced (but not chilli hot) and the accompanying mint sauce smooth and cool. Potato filled naan bread ($3.50) is also great for mopping up the mint sauce, and it was well charred by a proper tandoor oven. The potato filling wasn't highly spiced. Daal Makhani ($8.50) was very creamy and as a result was the most indulgent curry in our order, and also the mildest in flavour. It was too much cream in one dish for my taste, but I imagine kids would like it. Malai Kofta ($8.50) was in a rich, sweet, tomato flavoured sauce - my equal favourite of the night. Well spiced, flavoursome, and with two huge dumplings. Dried fruit & peel was included in the mostly potato, but still firm and delicious dumplings. Eggplant Masala ($9.50) was also a sweetened, rich tomato base, with the added flavour of smokey eggplant. There were also large pieces of cooked onion and capsicum making this a hearty and chunky curry - my equal favourite. Prawns Jalefrezy ($13.90) were in a slightly creamy tomato sauce with herbs and capsicum and a good spice level. There were plenty of large tender prawns that had good flavour and were nice and fresh. Vegetable Biriyani ($8.90) was a rice dish with a savoury salty flavour that helped to balance the slightly sweet curries. Fragrant and richly spiced - watch out for the cloves they should be removed before eating - this dish was delicious. It was studded with peas, capsicum, and herbs and the rice was coloured with saffron. For afters, we even had a mango lassi ($4.50) that was a huge size, and decorated on top with saffron syrup which was a thoughtful touch. It was delicious with that slightly fizzy lassi taste. A delicious if rich meal due to the sweetness, creaminess, and use of ghee that we both enjoyed with gusto.
