Situated at 22 Haszard St ,Just around the corner from Seddon street in the centre of town it appears to be nothing special from outside, just another old building with a bit of a cosmetic 'makeover., however, once inside it is really rather nice, subdued but nice, although not typically Indian (Chintzy) in the old 'Curry house' style.
To your right is a nice Bar with seating and a takeaway waiting area plus garden, and to your left a large, airy, uncluttered formal dining area with somewhat 'chunky' dining tables and side chairs well laid out with good table separation and there also good disabled/ wheelchair access throughout.
The service is genuinely friendly and good, plus the Menu is varied and typically what one would find in a Uk Curry House, except that here you can vary the strength of your curry dish at will
IE: a Milder or hotter Madras rather than a too bland Korma.
My meal , a lunchtime special of Madras chicken with rice and Nan bread cost just $ 10.00 and was well presented and tasted really wonderful, quite a surprise in fact, just like home..Just proves that what the restaurant spends of 'fitting out' with expensive furniture and fittings, when the most important Ingredient is the Chef.. and here they have got the balance just right..
I can't wait to find an excuse to go again.. read more
