Tan Tan is really good Vietnamese food. It is traditional and while not particularly exciting, it manages to serve up pho and noodles like you might have back in Hanoi or Saigon.
I really like Tan Tan because it offers the same variety that you experience in Vietnam. You can get pho, but not just with slices of chicken or beef -you can get brisket and tendon too along with the whole myriad of herbs and chillis.
Tan Tan also serves some great barbequed pork with broken rice (yum), and the sweet Vietnamese coffee that is made with condensed milk.
Tan Tan is so authentic that even the cutlery is similar to what you would have on the street back home. Flimsy knives and forks that bend easily are stacked on each table, and there's also a forest of chopsticks available.
The service is okay, its not very fast or efficient, but the waiters are all so friendly that you don't really care. You aren't paying very much for a meal (less than $10 usually), and you've got some great food coming your way. Sit back, relax, and have a go at bending your cutlery. read more
