Nestled away in a little strip mall not far from Chinook lies Jessica (Belle Rykiss) Bridal. My…read morefriend who was searching for her wedding dress landed here after being told what she envisioned didn't exist and she should just get a white bridesmaid's dress. The dress that ended up catching her eye was part of the Mori Lee Blue line, which Ethos carries as well. After making an appointment at Ethos to try on that particular dress which ended in disaster, she found that Jessica Bridal also carried the line and style she was looking for. She made her appointment and as one of her faithful bridesmaids we followed her into the wedding den. As we took off our shoes, the bride-to-be was greeted by her consultant, who was lovely. She never pressured the bride on the purchase and us as bridesmaids were not being ushered into fittings rooms to try on dresses as well. We got to take our time which was so important, I hate being rushed! The shop can accommodate max 5 different appointments at once, with their 5 fitting rooms. When we were there, a girl was searching for her grad dress and another bride came in as we were nearing the end of our time there. I love how this doesn't feel like a bridal factory, where people are being churned out of rooms faster then you can say "organza". The trip back for the bride's fitting was also great as one of the other bridesmaids ended up being 40 minutes late. They let us hang about and have her parade around in her wedding dress throughout the store. The alterations they did were great and the best part was the dress she got was cheaper here than at Ethos! If you are in the wedding or grad dress market, stop by Jessica Bridal, chances are they have something you will love that won't break your budget with a staff that are genuinely nice! To make things worse I had exactly two months until my wedding! I chose to visit Jessica Bridal first based on the reviews here on Yelp and I;m sure glad I did! We were greeted right away by Alaina who said we were fine to shop without an appointment. She informed me that because my date was so soon I would not be able to order anything in and would have to stick to dresses that were already in store in my size. I already knew this would be necessary. Alaina was very knowledgable about the extent to which certain dresses could be altered to fit me if they were a bit too big or small on the rack. She asked me what styles I had in mind and since I didn't really know what I wanted she offered to pull a few styles to get me started. She also told my mom and I to go ahead and pull any dresses we wanted to try, which was nice. Alaina really made the experience great! She was there to zip/lace/button up every dress and made lots of helpful suggestions about alterations and flattering styles, but wasn't pushy or gushy at all. She was very patient and made me feel like I had all the time in the world to try on dresses. And not once did she suggest a dress that was over my budget. I ended up finding "the" dress with her help, even though it was not at all what I imagined myself in! But I love it! I highly recommend booking an appointment with Alaina!

Novia Mia is different than the other stores - they make the dress TO your measurements. They don't order a size X and then alter it. I bought a dress there and they ended up making two HUGE alterations into the way it was made, which other stores didn't even mention they could do. I'm 5'2" or 5'3" and really needed some of these things done. I'll tell you - if I'm paying $1100 for a dress, I'm going to be darn happy with it. She has a bunch of dresses in store for you to try on. When you select one, she asks if you want it changed in any way, and also shows you what you can do with it. You can also take her a photo of a dress you like and they'll make it for you for a reasonable price. I highly suggest stopping here in your search for a wedding gown or bridesmaid dresses.

When we arrived the 3 associates working were sitting behind the desk chatting while one wedding gown appointment was in the process. We were directed to the back to look through dresses and were told we could use the changing spaces available. For 50 minutes we looked through, trying on dresses, and having questions but no one came back to check on us to see if we perhaps needed a hand. Then one of the associates came to tell us they had two more appointments and we needed to leave basically. That was fine but we really wanted one of the dresses, and it had zero information attached. No tag, no price, nothing. I asked if we could have the information and was told they didn't have time to give it to me. I asked if they had an idea on the price of the dress and was told no, they would take my name and number and call me once they were finished with appointments. Had one of them come back while we were trying dresses this could have been avoided but instead we were completely snubbed. 2 1/2 hours later while I was driving home I miss their call and they didn't even have the decency to leave a voicemail with the details? So I pull over and call back and no answer. What a headache and waste of time.

The vibes were really off from the manager or whoever was in charge…read more I had a dress on layaway and made two follow-up appointments. I had to cancel the first due to scheduling issues, but I confirmed the second. When I called to make the follow-up appointments, I explained that I wanted to come in and try on the dress I had chosen again to make sure it was the one I wanted. During my first appointment, I saw the dress on the mannequin and loved how it looked. Luckily, they had it in my size. When they brought it out, they mentioned it was wrinkled because it had just been taken out and hadn't been steamed yet. I decided to go with the dress and put it on layaway, but I had a hard time seeing past the wrinkles in the photos I took when I first tried it on. That's why I wanted a follow-up appointment and asked twice if it was possible to have the dress steamed like the other dresses on the floor. Both times, whoever I spoke to said they could do that for me. Today, I went in for my follow-up appointment (I live an hour outside of Calgary), and they brought out the dress, but it wasn't steamed. When I asked about it, the manager or whoever she had immediately told me they couldn't steam the dress unless I paid for it in full. I tried to explain the initial conversations I had with the other staff who booked my follow-up appointments, but she was dismissive and her vibes were totally off. She kept repeating that they only steam fully paid dresses. I was going to pay it off today as I had it on layaway, but she questioned who booked my appointment and demanded her workers find out. She kept talking over me and to her workers in a tone that made me feel uncomfortable. I tried to show her the image of the wrinkly dress I had when I first tried it on, but she didn't seem interested and kept saying they don't steam dresses on layaway. I tried to explain that it was steamed on the mannequin and the other dresses on the floor weren't as wrinkly, but she kept asking her workers to find out who booked my appointment. Eventually, she said they could steam the top material to smooth it out, which was all I had wanted and requested. She quickly had two workers in the back steaming the top material for me, and I got to try it on wrinkle-free. I felt so awkward and uncomfortable from her tone and attitude towards me and her workers that I shut down. I didn't feel good after that and didn't want to engage with her or anyone there. I ended up deciding to keep looking for my dress elsewhere and didn't want to get that dress anymore from them. The worker and other manager who helped me during my first appointment were so welcoming and hyped me up, and I left feeling so good. But after today, I think I'll stay far away from David's Bridal. It's unfortunate because I loved the dress, but the way the older manager made me feel was no good, and I don't need that kind of energy near me. So, I decided to let go of the dress, and they took $140 off my $350 layaway price, which I find unfair as I really wanted the dress, but the whole experience was off, so I guess I'll just take the loss and move on far away from this place.

I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment on an early Tuesday afternoon. As soon as I arrived, I was promptly greeted by a consultant and the owner. The consultant led me to the back and started asking me about my budget and my preferences before leading me to the dresses. She explained they were divided by designer, and encouraged me to pick out some dresses that I liked. She also went around and picked out some recommendations that she thought I would like. I mentioned I wanted to stay under $2500, but that I could be flexible if I found a dress I really loved. She was very respectful of my price point, and brought a significant number of dresses I liked. I'm the kind of person who likes to try on almost everything, if only to eliminate dresses. I must have tried on over a dozen dress, and the consultant was very helpful and patient. She was kind, and made me feel very comfortable. The only reason I am not giving C&C 5 stars is because she had to take care of a customer over the phone for upwards of 20 minutes, leaving me alone in my dressing room. The owner was taking care of another customer, so I sat in on the other appointment and became friends with the bride (haha). I think the situation could have been better handled if she delegated me to the owner, so the owner could make sure that I was doing ok (while keeping her focus on her first bride). The consultant was very apologetic though. I DID wind up finding the perfect dress at HALF my budget ($1300), and I never felt hurried or pressured into a dress. Despite the phone call, this was definitely the best service I experienced, and I have been to 5 or 6 different stores in the Calgary area. I do strongly recommend Cameo & Cufflinks because when the consultant was around, the service was exceptional. Although their selection is on the smaller side, the dresses are all beautiful with a wide variety of price points and silhouettes.

We walked in and were greeted by a very nice woman at the front who showed us where the dresses were. The dress selection and colour variety were very nice, but all the sample sizes were very very small. My sister could only try on a fraction of the dresses we wanted to see. We were virtually alone for most of the time we were there and had to guess at which change rooms we could use, and I can't decide if the one girl we talked to was being purposefully unhelpful or just didn't hear us correctly. I realize that most of these problems I've brought up may be completely irrelevant if I was a bride with an appointment, so I don't think it should dissuade anyone from checking it out. All in all, nice dresses, cold atmosphere. But on the plus side there's a kickass record store next door!

Although she was occupied, I thought it was odd that she didn't even look up to acknowledge us, or told the phone to hold to ask us if we had an appointment. In the end, my friend and I walked in on our own to find our friends. The consultant that was "helping" us was absolutely terrible and horrid. She looked like she dreaded being there and gave off a mean aurora the entire interaction. None of us felt comfortable, and in the end the bride-to-be decided to end the appointment short (with less than 30 mins into the viewing). That speaks volume as to the professionalism of the store. With most bridal dress shopping, the employees typically share the same excitement as the customers and ask tons of questions. This consultant was unenthused and you could tell she just hated her life. I have had much better retail experience and customer service at the Gap. Perhaps she was bitter that she was not the one trying on the dresses. Although the dresses in the store are beautiful, I would highly recommend people to AVOID this place due to the horrendous experience endured. If this was my friend's first bridal dress shopping, it would've set a negative precedence, but thankfully, it was not. We later ended up at Rocco, which was night and day! All the employees at Rocco were super helpful and kind. They were all happy to say the least, and no one gave off an intimidating vibe at all.
