So I haven't been here since I was a little kid. My sister used to bring me as a little tiny little girl when she would get her nails done. I would sit on the side and look at the magazines on the table. I am now 35 years old and I finally decided to do something for myself and I took myself here to Tammie's because the last few times that I have tried to get my nails done elsewhere . It's been a horror show. I promise you I have not one complaint. I loved every single part of my visit there Danny took me in ASAP. Mimi did my feet amazing the visual I gave Danny he only glimpse at it once and was able to re-create what I wanted to the T and there were no imperfections in my nails whatsoever. I absolutely loved my visit there this last week and I promise I will be back again. It brought back so many memories and it just made me happy. It was more than just nails that day. I was healing my inner child. read more

Co-worker recommended this place, her nails are usually pretty. Made an appointment for a fill at 5:30pm, got there at 5:28pm they said someone would be with me in a minute, waited until 6:12pm because and I quote "I'm sorry we forgot about you". Finally got in the chair, showed a picture of what I wanted, but didn't exactly get it. I might try this place a second time but not too sure yet. I asked if they book appointments (my last nail place did but they closed due to covid and I've been going there for the last two years every 2-3 weeks) and they said call the day of. I would really like a place with a standing appointment. Might give it another try, Helen was nice and she did clean up my cuticles. We'll see. read more

Good luck if Danny schedules you. Ask for Nina to schedule you or make sure he tells the nail tech or passes phone to them. He's bad with communicating with the other nail techs about when you're coming in. He's done this multiple times. If you don't mind waiting past the time he tells you to come in it's worth the work Nina, Lam, Melissa and him provide. They'll have you sit in the chair waiting also for them just so they won't loose your business but come on I called and asked if she was free, this has to stop. Very frustrating to be waiting 10+ minutes when you have an appointment and came in on time or early. I guess I'll be going back to my old shop if this continues. read more

If I could I'd give this place a -5. this is the worst nail job I've ever gotten. I went on Dec. 9. Got my gel set did and when the lady was done I noticed my nails had bumps because of the nail polish. Oh BTW my nails are supposed to be coffin shaped idk wtf this lady did. I tried asking them to fix it and all they did was try to file them for 3 seconds and nothing changed they told me nothing could be done. All I know is that I will NEVER go back to this salon again and I DO NOT recommend it. One that I DO recommend is the salon across the street from them next to the 99 cents store, they are great! read more

I've been coming here for about 4 years now, every now and then I want to get my nails done and I just KNOW I have to get them done here. I've had bad experiences at other nail salons, I've come out with cuts, badly painted nails, and terrible service. But they are just so nice here! Every time I come in they greet me with a smile, Nancy and Julie take their time with their work and it shows! They give beautiful results every time! I've had other nail techs here and they are equally dedicated to their work and it shows, I never leave yelp reviews but they have earned it! read more

I always use to go to tammies nail but after my last visit I will make sure not to go ever again. I hate to say this because i love everybody there and this is the first time this happens to me this but I got an infection on my toe a week after going there. My toe had hurt really bad once i left but took a week to get infected. Hopefully i can get my money back. Im not sure if it was from an ingrown nail being teared to hard or dirty tools. read more

I need to have short nails because I'm a student still doing online classes and I work in an office. I came in with a request to do this really pretty design pictured below, but to have the nails be shorter. I kept asking Danny to go shorter, and he told me there would be no room for the design. They do not have the tools needed for intricate nail art, and they make you feel stupid for expecting them to. The second picture is what he did--he chose the colors for me while I was washing my hands and was annoyed when I asked him if I could choose. I was unhappy with the result so I called and asked if I could have them re-done. He said yes, but when I came back today, he told me the same thing: that the design was impossible on my short nails. I went to the place across the street and they were able to fit the design onto a smaller canvas perfectly. Not only are they rude, the work is messy. I've been going there for almost a year and have had to put up with little specks and hairs being cemented into the acrylic, which bothered me. Don't even bother--just go to Studio Nails across the street! read more

My family lives in Panorama City and this place is one of the closest to their house so whenever I need a pedicure I come here. I'm always able to walk in and although they are busy I never wait more than 10-15 minutes. Note that you get what you pay for. This place is nothing to bag about and they don't particularly do anything special but they aren't horrible either. Some things to note: - Your pedicure will last about 20-25 minutes- nice and quick if you are in a hurry but will disappoint you if you're wanting to take their sweet time. They are busy so I'm sure they are looking to turn customers around quick. - No name brand polishes in the story. Cheapy polishes so if you want something nicer bring in your own like I do - Spa chairs - Parking lot gets super crowded because its small but you can find something on the street nearby read more

I've been coming here since I was 14. This place is my go-to nail spot. I do not let anyone touch my nails besides , Lin , Nina or Danny. I've gone to other nail locations, but it's just not the same. I Highly recommend Lin, doing your nails and eyebrows. Lin does an amazing job. She always knows what I want. Whether it's coffin, simple square, short or almond, she does the job well done. Lin is also my wax girl. I don't have anyone else who does my eyebrows like her. She keeps them looking fierce. Lam does my pedis all the time. She's the only one who is even allowed to touch my feet. No one else!! Highly recommend her.. Every single time I call, whether I got an appt or not and show up as a walk-in, I'm taken in right away. I'm treated like a Queen here & I love it!! I've been here few times before and the lady did a good job. Today, me and my sister walked in and sat at right side waiting area. Then another person came in. Apparently they don't check who comes in first. So we ended up the last person even though we came in first . I didn't really care as long as they acknowledge the customers. Worst service ever. I would report her to someone. The lady cut my nails and skin in a rush and cut my finger. And when I wanted to choose color or even to tell her how I wanted my nails she had an attitude. It was super painful. She acted like I was some random person off of the street but I tipped her well anyways. So sad that this happened to me. She even left pieces of skin on my fingers and the nails weren't filed right. Never going here ever again. She didn't even clean the nail cutters and when she was doing my feet someone walked in and she hugged them and touched her head. She wasn't wearing gloves. read more

I had gone to this place because I have a few friends who go to this spot. Wish I had gone to the person they mentioned. First time going here and last, never again!!!! All i wanted was a manicure and acrylic overlay on my natural nail so not what happened. Not only did I have clumps of acrylic underneath a few of my nails but they were not rounded off more like rounded to the side and when she finally admit she couldn't do an overlay a man stepped in to make then a bit rounder. I asked for them to just square them off and they said oh no we have to cut for that. So disappointed never ever going back. read more

History

Established in 1990.

Tammies Nails was originally owned by my sister name Tammie back in 1990. Around that same time my family and I moved to the U.S and it was during this time that I was working for her as a nail tech. After a few years she decided she didn't want to deal with stress and the responsibilities, which made her decided to sell the business. Since I have developed the love as a nail tech, I was sadden about her decision. So by 1995 my husband and I decided to buy it off of her, so in honored of her we kept the business name and continued the business. It took a couple of years for us to saved enough money to rent out the vacant store next to us and renovated the salon. Years later we now have a spaceish business, newly renovated with two waxing rooms and one facial room.

Meet the Business Owner: Nina D.

Hello my name is Nina, I am vietnamese and Irish and is the co-onwer of Tammies nails along with my husband Danny. We both are fascinated about our business and will do the best to provide high quality services at a very reasonable price so that your visit with us will be fulfilling.

She works with Dermalogica (along with other products) which is a very good skin care brand. She also offers hydrofacials and has a fancy machine that does the job efficiently. Call ahead and book your appointment, you won't regret it.

At the beginning of my appointment, I told my waxer, Jazlyn, that I only wanted the Bikini Full. There was already some confusion because only the eyebrow service was showing on her screen, but we agreed to proceed with the Bikini Full. Somewhere along the way, there was a miscommunication and I ended up receiving a Brazilian instead. I want to be clear that Jazlyn herself was very attentive, kind, and reassuring throughout my appointment. I understand that miscommunications happen, and I did not blame her for the situation. My frustration was with how the front desk attendant, Zoe, handled it. I was told I had to pay the Brazilian price even though I had booked and communicated that I wanted a Bikini Full. When I questioned this, Zoe brought Jazlyn to the front to discuss what happened in front of several other customers. Given the personal nature of the service, this made me extremely uncomfortable and felt unnecessary. I would have appreciated some acknowledgment of the booking/miscommunication issue and a private, professional attempt to resolve it. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed and frustrated over how the situation was handled. I hope management uses this as an opportunity to provide additional training on customer service, discretion, and de-escalation.

I had made an appointment beforehand and even got a special discount since it was my first time. After a brief wait, I was taken inside by a kind young lady who talked me through the entire process. I had to take everything off from the lower half of my body and lie down on a table, where she applied the slightly hot wax to my skin and then very quickly yanked it off. was left with everything feeling so smooth and soft~ There were a few moments where it was a teeny bit painful, but overall it was so fast and actually a pretty fun experience. I chose them because of the positive reviews and was expecting a careful, professional brow service. My appointment was with Riley, who I understand is also the manager, which made my experience even more disappointing. There was no consultation whatsoever before she started. Riley never asked how I normally wear my brows, what shape I wanted, or whether I wanted my brow hairs trimmed. My brows were naturally full with longer hairs, and she trimmed them extremely short and tweezed them, completely changing the look of my eyebrows. If she had simply asked me beforehand, I would have made it very clear that I wanted to keep my brows full and did not want the hairs cut this short. The service is listed as approximately 20 minutes, but I was in the chair for about 8 minutes. The entire appointment felt rushed, especially for a first-time client. I left extremely disappointed, and now I have to wait for my eyebrows to grow back. For a first-time client, I believe there should have been a consultation before making such a noticeable change to my brows--especially when the person providing the service is also the manager. Sadly, this was not the experience I expected after reading the reviews, and I would not return for eyebrow services.

I concur with all the others on this list. . . this is a great nail salon. I was very happy with the job that they did in shaping my tiny, square little nails. BEWARE!!!! THIS PLACE IS NOT HYGENIC AT ALL…read more I am extremely upset and concerned after my experience here. Not only was the service disappointing, but it has now turned into a health issue. After my visit, I developed an issue on my right toe, which is completely unacceptable and honestly alarming. From what I observed during my appointment, hygiene practices were not being followed properly. I personally saw tools being reused on multiple clients without being properly sanitized, despite the fact that they clearly have sanitation machines available. That alone is a serious violation and puts customers at risk. When I brought this issue up, the man at the front with the thick eyebrows did absolutely nothing to help. There was no concern, no accountability, and no attempt to resolve the situation. It felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially considering the severity of what happened. Because of this, I will be reporting this salon to the Board of Cosmetology. No one should have to worry about infections or unsafe practices when getting something as routine as a nail service. Please be careful if you are considering coming here. Your health and safety should always come first, and based on my experience, this place does not meet those standards.

The front desk lady member gave me a price estimate over the phone, so I went in expecting the cost to be close to what I was quoted. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the pricing was completely different. I was charged $10 more than the estimate I was given over the phone. I also added a refill, which I understood to be an additional $10 bringing the total to $50. I was prepared to pay that amount, but then I was told the total was actually $60. The explanation of the additional charges was confusing and did not make much sense. It also felt like they assumed I was getting my nails done for the first time based on the way the pricing was explained to me. My biggest concern is the lack of consistency and transparency. If a customer calls ahead specifically to ask about pricing, the information provided over the phone should be accurate so there are no unexpected surprises when they arrive. I hope the salon will be more careful and transparent when communicating prices to customers in the future.
