It is quite a large building for a small town, so is able to carry a good selection of books. The range is quite standard - reference, non-fiction, fiction and childrens. The same staff have worked there for as long as I can remember and they are very knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. They are always happy to check stock and order books in for you. They also have a good dvd rental range, and free internet access for members. Although libraries are getting less and less used nowadays as more people have their own internet access, this branch is usually quite busy.

I have found this invaluable if I am unable to make it to the library to renew books. As well as books they have cd's & dvd's some of which incur a small charge for you to lend. There is plenty of choice, with new best sellers being available for one week loan, with most books being three weeks. If its a certain book you are after you can register online and order the book in for collection and also online you can renew. The staff are friendly and helpful too. On the main floor you can nosey at all the books, use the internet for free (which you have to book in advance), browse the dvds and pick up information on classes and courses available in Stockport. Upstairs is the reference library which houses thousands of newspapers on film, maps, reference books, magazines and newspapers, and some wonderful historic books about Stockport. The staff are so helpful and will assist you to find any book you require. You can take out a library card and borrow up to 10 books at any time.

The staff are extremely helpful and set up both my children and my accounts quickly. The children's books are on the ground floor, as are the adult fiction section. There are easy chairs and newspapers to read also. Upstairs there is non-fiction and a computer suite, where you can get internet access. There is also a coffee machine - the first I have ever seen in a library! There is also a room for courses that the library run. The library offers friendly service and good resources for a smallish library. I should also mention that you can access your account online and can order books from other libraries in Bury, if they are in the catalogue.
