Hubby and I had a wonderful late lunch at Fresco today; we are "traveling through" and wanted to go…read moreout for a late lunch. It is a small, nicely decorated, cozy restaurant in an older small building with inside seating and a couple tables-for-two outside the front door. My husband decided to order the tomato basil soup with an Italian panini, and I had a seafood (I chose shrimp) wrap. They were at the end of an extremely busy lunch and were shortstaffed, so it took a little bit to get our drinks and put our order in, but it was well worth the wait! The homemade tomato basil soup hubby ordered came out first, nice and hot, just like he liked it, and it was delicious! Hubby's Italian panini was on multigrain bread, expertly panini pressed, with a side of grilled fresh vegetables. Our waitress, who also happened to be a co-owner, was doing her best to keep up with the lunch rush; once people left, she was able to chat with us a bit, offhandedly sharing with my husband the cold cuts for the Italian sandwich are imported from Italy! It was absolutely delicious, and the addition of pesto really gave it a nice, fresh flavor. She also shared that "Fresco" is the Italian/Spanish word for "Fresh," which reflects her and her husband's focus on farm to table, quality ingredients at a reasonable price. My shrimp wrap was delicious, too; just the right combination of fresh greens, tomatoes, red onion, provolone, and balsamic vinaigrette with perfectly grilled shrimp I was excited to hear that they could offer me a gluten-free option with a homemade cassave tortilla. The side of roasted potatoes was nice and hot, with a perfect, well seasoned crust. We will definitely be back whenever we travel through town.
