We started this home-based estate planning law firm in Tulsa as a way to spend more time together and with our children. While our job as attorneys is important, it cannot compare to the significance, challenge, and gratification of being committed spouses and parents. Basing our operations at home allows us to balance these roles in a way that works best for our entire family, as well as our clients.
We share this with you for two important reasons:
First, if you are thinking about your estate plan, you are thinking about protecting and preserving what is most important to you - your people, your assets, your values, and your choices. You need to work with people who share your passion for supporting and guarding your priorities. We have done that in our own life, and we will do it for you.
Second, if you are thinking about your estate plan, you are thinking about conserving your assets and making wise decisions. Because we work primarily from home, we have very little overhead. There is no expensive building or large support staff. This means that we are able to provide you a custom and robust estate plan for less than many traditional estate planning attorneys.
In short, if you are looking for a welcoming, trustworthy, skilled Tulsa estate planning attorney, you've found us.
History
Established in 2016.
Riley and Laurel Carbone Kern started TALLGRASS in Tulsa in March, 2016, as a way to spend more time together and with their children. Since then the firm has grown to include another attorney in Oklahoma and is expanding to the Seattle area of Washington State as TALLGRASS Northwest.
Wherever our attorneys are, we will always agree on some pretty basic things:
While our job as attorneys is important, it cannot compare to the significance, challenge, and gratification of being committed partners and parents. Basing our operations in our homes allows us to balance these roles in a way that works best for our entire family, as well as for our clients and their loved ones.
Conversations about disability, death, money, and family are never easy or comfortable, so it is important that we create inviting, hospitable spaces for these conversations to occur, share information clearly, and create plain-language solutions for our clients.
For most people, hiring an attorney is an intimidating
Meet the Business Owner: Riley Carbone Kern K.
Riley and Laurel are the founding partners of Tallgrass Estate Planning, LLP, and the proud parents of three beautiful children and one very happy goldendoodle.
Our legal practice has always been devoted exclusively to estate planning, including elder law issues such as asset protection for long-term care and Medicaid and VA eligibility.
We manage Tallgrass Estate Planning from a home office. This is by design. Working with clients in our home or theirs helps us discuss difficult topics - death, disability, family, money - in a comfortable, hospitable environment that removes quite a few of the "intimidating" factors that often keep people from seeking legal help. And it also allows us, as parents, to spend as much time as possible investing in our children. Balancing and blending work and home presents its challenges, to be sure, but we have found this practice model to be extemely rewarding for our attorneys and our clients.
