Apparently he was a portrait artist before branching out into body art, which is pretty awesome. So as for a review, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I started getting my piercings here as a one off really and found that they simply are the best place I've ever been. The staff are really friendly, really professional and know what they are talking about. I now only use this place for any of my bod mods, and I have to travel nearly an hour and a half to get here (I have to use public transport :/) but because I know the service I receive is phenomenal and prices are superb, it's worth it.

I must stress that this review is not from strictly personal experience, as I would never dare get…read morea tattoo on my own skin. However, I'll happily go with friends as they go through torture of body art, and that was the situation as me and a foolish friend went to Station Tattoo. He'd had a couple of rather sub-standard tattoos done before at a dodgy establishment down a side street in the city centre, and wanted them fixed and merged into something a bit more impressive - admittedly, no easy job. Not to fear, however, because the two guys who work in this place are skilled - my friend and I left a fair few hours later (they take their time, but its worth it), with him ecstatic what the artist had done on his upper arm. I'm no tattoo fan, but I can appreciate a good one when I see it, and (since he took the bandage off) I've had nothing but appreciation for my mate's body art.

There is much talk about central tattoo parlors and Station often goes unoticed, especially by students in the area. The clientele seems a little older than studio's such as RED. I am one of the many that dismisses this studio as my tattoo's have all been done else where, nevertheless I have heard nothing but good reports about Station, especially on the design front! The two blokes that run the shop seem to have a sincere passion for their work and see their tattoo's as an at form. They don't seem scared to take an active role in designing and drawing which I feel really assures customers. Prices seem very average, if not a little lower than city center prices and the customer service seems to be really, really superb. For a tattoo with a personal touch, drawn and inked by an artist who takes pride in his work this is your place. This is not a dodgy little tattoo and piercing joint, these guys love their jobs which is evident by their roaring trade.

I just had my 3rd tattoo done at Ruby Arts and I gotta say - they are amazing. I emailed the…read moredrawing of what I wanted to the guys at Ruby Arts about a week in advance and showed up on a Saturday (the day they do first come, first served appointments) and got on the books for 3:30 pm. By the time I got back for my turn, they had already drawn up the template and were ready to go. Because I'm picky, I debated on a few things and ended up having to ask them to make a few changes, and they were happy to oblige. I know a lot of tattoo guys have the reputation for being assholes, but these guys were friendly, professional, and my tattoo came out looking fantastic! He (Mick) was very friendly with the price, too. I can say I'm proud to give these guys 5 well-deserved stars for their hard work and when I get ready to have my next piece done, I'll go to Ruby Arts for sure. Well done!

I went down to Ruby Arts because I had heard of Mick Tomo before and knew he was a well-known and…read morerespected artist. I booked my tattoo telling Mick exactly what I wanted (writing on my inner bicep) and he wrote it all down for me and told me to come back the following week for my appointment. So I drove the hour drive to get to the studio on the day of my appointment and was looking forward to it! As I arrived he'd forgotten what it was I wanted, so the consulation I travelled an hour for was completely pointless. I explained what I wanted again and he went to print out a font to see if I liked it. I didn't like the first font he offered me and I thought it was too big as well. He was extremely rude and not very welcoming at all. It was almost like it was my fault I didn't like the font. I asked to see an alternative font and he went off into the other room, showing an obvious annoyance. He came back with a different font and I decided that I liked the font but wanted it without capital letters and just in lower case. He said "if we keep changing it, we'll be here all night" in a very grumpy and intimidating way. I said "well it's going to be on my body for the rest of my life" and he just looked at me and didn't say anything. In the end, after more of his intimdation and pure rudeness towards me and my idea i decided to leave and book an appointment somewhere else. He did not apoligise or show any sort of emotion. I left feeling extremely disappointed since I had planned this tattoo for a long time and was really looking forward to it. I wasted my afternoon travelling to the studio and I also wasted money in petrol to get there. He may be a good artist but having a good tattoo experience is vital. He was unwelcoming, rude, intimidating and made me feel pressured into getting a tattoo I didn't want. I will definately not be returning and would not recommend this studio to anyone.
