Over the course of our weeklong visit to Florida, my travel companion and I spent four beautiful days lounging by the Hammock Bay Clubhouse pool, ordering from the Clubhouse restaurant and being well taken care of by the entire staff. When you arrive, you go through the Hammock Bay entrance and show your member ID, then you turn left to head back to the clubhouse and pool area. There is ample parking for guests to use. You walk through the clubhouse, past a gym that is open from 10 AM - 5 PM, and both the men's and women's locker rooms, and then straight out to the pool area. There is seating for guests just looking to eat, and a large bar. There are towels for guests use and often bottles of water sitting on ice by the entrance. There are many different areas for lounging by the large pool. We opted for a sunnier spot to the far right near the jacuzzi spa. When we got hungry, we'd either walk over to the dining area and grab a table or ask a staff member to take our order by the pool. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, polite, and helpful. They got to know us personally, and remember our names and membership information after just one visit. The food itself is delicious. The menu changes occasionally, but everything is fresh. We loved trying the brisket nachos, a pepperoni pizza, the cobb salad, another salad that was full of fruit, and the grilled chicken sandwich. That sandwich was a highlight for me, I ordered it twice. The fries are also delicious and beer battered style. The aioli mayo on the sandwich is also delicious. My travel companion was also a hugeeee fan of the Piña Coladas!

Short and certainly not worth what they charge but they do due to supply (lack of) and demand (very high). I can accept the fact that they charge what they can get. However, this may be the worst driving range I have ever experienced in all my years. I went there for the first time to hit balls, paid the overpriced charge of $22 for a large bucket and I had to hit off of "mats" that weren't golf mats at all. It was a green covering over hard, bumpy dirt. You could not hit balls off of these. I get more forgiveness from my living room carpet. I moved onto the grass but was quickly told by the Ranger that it was forbidden. When I told him you can't hit off those "mats", he just defended them and said I couldn't hit off the grass. I get golf courses alternate between hitting off mats and grass for all the right reasons. But the mats should be mats and not mini golf green coverings. Investing in real golf mats would provide them with a 10 fold return. They obviously don't care about providing a good golf experience for the money. All they care about is the sound of the register. I will never go back. Do yourself a favor and go to Stoneybrook or Spanish Wells.

They have a lot of regular activities to keep everyone busy and never get bored. Tennis is huge there and well run. Bocce is a bit too serious :) NOW - for the down side: The costs. After owning for several years we realized that unless you are literally made of money, it's not a place you should live. From the first month we moved in three years ago until we sold last week, (snowbirds) it was special assessment after special assessment. First the kitchen, then elevators, then extra for flood insurance, then the golf course, and then the clubhouse which was at a cost of $8MM. All passed along to the owners. We were very lucky to own a golf membership which we purchased for $40k and now has gone up to $85k. Since there is a waiting list for these memberships, we were lucky to sell our place. The costs to own in ECC have skyrocketed. That was a plus for us as we were able to make a nice profit on our own sale. The financial management of the club is the problem. One day an email will be sent out to all members regarding inflation, rising cost of gasoline, market downturns, etc and the next week they want more money to update the clubhouse. Makes no sense. Again, to the multi millionaires that live there, they may not care. Bottom line is it's a great place for those that have unlimited disposable income. But get ready because you will spend all of it. It's country club life at it's peak. One final note: The community itself has very nice people.

The signature 14th hole, a 205-yeard par 3 requires a tee shot over water to a narrow green. The bad news is that it is bunkered in the back side. Yes, my shot was 3 yards short and went into the water! The staffs are friendly and professional. The course is well maintained and in excellent shape! We have an enjoyable round, lost a few balls in the water and love the scenic views and lunch at the club house. No picture taken, too busy looking for my balls in the water!
