Not an ideal place to work at. Take long to reply to messages and unprofessionally ghost applicants.

Huntington Learning Center Pleasanton - The entrance of Huntington

I want to thank Huntington for a job well done. My daughter performed well in her HSPT Test showing…read morescores of Average and Above Average. Before she came to Huntington she was showing Below Average Scores however she has improved a lot in all areas. She was also accepted to the High School she applied to. Thank You Huntington for all your hard work and efforts.

My ADHD 4th grader has been coming here for English help for over a year. They start with a very…read morethorough 3-hour assessment, after which they're able to tell you about your kid's strengths and weaknesses in great detail. At $150 (or more or less depending on the promotion), I think the assessment itself is worth doing even if you don't end up purchasing their tutor services. After reviewing results, they sell you an intimidating package. I say intimidating because at $75/hour for 1-on-1 tutoring, a 60-80 hour plan becomes a very significant expenditure, but if like me you know your kid needs it then it's worth it. They typically will recommend coming at least twice a week to start, and there's a detailed lesson plan with multiple workbooks for vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing (for English, but they also have math tutoring). One thing I really like are the monthly check-ins where the center director Mona shares exactly what the kid is working on, how much progress, and upcoming lessons. They're also very flexible and accommodating regarding schedule changes, your concerns about the direction of learning or progress, etc. I feel like it's pricey but you do get what you paid for, and actually the rate is reasonable considering it's private tutoring. After the initial package runs out, you'll be able to purchase hours at a little more discount. Anyway, given my son's condition we'll probably be with the center as long as he has homework to do.

Absolute terrible place to bring your child for after school care, shame on me for doing it! If you…read morelike to torture your kids, this is the place for you as these teachers will do it! What training have any of these teachers had, I doubt if they have any meaningful credentials in caring for children and providing them with confidence and assistance. The worst part is that we found out that one of the so called 'teachers' told my 8 year old son he was dumb and and made him feel he is not good enough in front of other kids in class. Seriously, who do you think you are to talk and treat my child this way. These are children who are sensitive and need encouragement and help, not to be demoralized and made fun of. The place is basically a zoo, chaos reigns and the kids are all over the place in class, teachers shout and demoralize the children, there is very little or no structure at in all in this place. It's a glorified school of terror!!! They don't listen to parents and they have refused to return my $500 deposit, they will be getting a letter from my attorney very soon. I wish I could put negative stars on this place!

She enjoys the various activities offered at Academic Plus such as hip hop class (for an additional fee, but reasonable), creative writing, knitting/sewing and stitching and Spanish. She loves the snacks they provide and most importantly, she likes the teachers. She told me that the teachers pay attention to the kids, approach them when they notice something is wrong, and they are good listeners. I appreciate the conveniences Academic Plus offers to parents such as transportation service from school to the program, the option to pick up your kid as late as 6:30 pm and during the summer program, we can drop off as early as 8 am. In addition, Ekta and the teachers at Academic Plus are readily available when I have questions or concerns.

Tutoring Club, however, was very inclusive and accommodating from the start. I have the highest regard for Anil and his son, who run this center. They are soft-spoken, humble, polite, and--most importantly--very understanding and flexible. Before joining, both of my kids had difficulties with comprehension and writing. While it took some time, the dedicated tutors at Tutoring Club made a real difference. Their efforts helped strengthen my kids' reading and writing skills, which clearly showed in their most recent CAASPP scores. I credit the Tutoring Club for this progress. If you're looking for a tutoring center that is not only effective but also INCLUSIVE and supportive, Tutoring Club is truly worth exploring. I would recommend them anytime, to anyone.

The owner Anil is the greatest when it comes to making the kids feel welcomed and seen and he's great with communicating with the parents. Both kids have always been tutored for math, and just recently I reached out to see if Tutoring Club tutors chemistry - and they do! Anil and team, thank you for giving the kids confidence in their subjects as they navigate through the San Ramon school system. I am grateful to have you help the kids with things I know I can't do and I'm blessed to be able to lean on you guys with helping my kids.

Thanks to Jon Simon for his guidance, my son now is very strong in his English writing and read WSJ everyday. But in the end, he truly deserves to be more well-known than the franchise tutor mills. Our two sons have been in Mr. Simon's classes for the last two years, and we just enrolled them for another year. We can see their improvement in fictional writing style and persuasive organization. Their school teachers have also commented on how articulate they have become. With input from our kids, our thoughts on why his classes are so effective: * Mr. Simon's expectations of disciplined work, enforced with a sense of humor, motivates his students. Oftentimes my kids would tell us the jokes Mr. Simon told them. * Mr. Simon provides personalized feedback for each student, but done in the class such that all can benefit from his teachings. * Mr. Simon also advises the parents not to intervene with students' work. Initially it was hard on our helicopter parenting style, but soon I found that without our meddling, our kids became quite proactive in doing their assignment. Mr. Simon provides for both in-person and live online during class hours, but I'd recommend students attend in-person whenever possible.
