I donated plasma at Grifols / Talecris Plasma for just under 2 years. You donate plasma & funds are deposited on a prepaid card afterwards. In that time I did get about $1200 total, which went to a pandemic emergency fund. They'll occasionally send postcards out that bump up your donation rate. 1st visit consists of a series of 84 questions, blood pressure check, physical and the actual donation process. Took about 4 hours. The 2nd & subsequent visits took about an hour and a half, as a new donor. They had a $100 promo rate for your first 3 donations. Update: August 2021: walked in at 330 to donate, check in, wait 30 minutes only for them to tell me they don't have enough time to do a physical for me. I had a $40 bonus coupon that I then could not use. Time wasted: 1 hour (Not including drive time) Update 2: Sept 2021: walked in at 215pm, checked in. Two workers leave for lunch. Waited 45 minutes for them to tell me I wasn't in the new computer system, and that it wasn't migrated, also that there were 3 people needing physicals ahead of me and they couldn't give me a physical. Time wasted: 1.20 hours. (Not including drive time) Absolutely not worth it to go to this center. Not saying Biolife is better or that CSL is better, I'm just saying that Grifols is terreiblllleeeee. read more

Warning: Wall of text. (TLDR: Constantly understaffed, incompetent employees.) Context: I have donated plasma over 50 times at 5 different locations. I only went to this location because I started working here, one hour away from my home. My first visit I signed the registry at 9:45 and exited the building after donating at 3:00PM. The waiting room was so cold I was almost shivering. The phlebotomist had to re-puncture after missing my vein for the first time in my life. My second visit I showed up at 6:30AM before they opened figuring I could be out of there and at work (4 minutes away) at 9:00AM. I was the second one in line. When we walked in at 7:00AM (when they open) we were told to wait because they weren't open yet. Then employees started walking in the door past us and the manager started constantly cursing at them. Literally yelling the F word multiple times in front of a 20 person line. When they did start letting us sign in through the mobile phone kiosk scanner, mine didn't work. It was my second donation and they had to manually ask me questions, which I was not informed of. I was asked to step out of line at 7:20AM. So showing up early was useless for me. By 8:00AM I wasn't called back and realized I would be late for work if i continued, so I left. My third visit, I decided to drive up at 11:30AM on a day off at the end of the month so I could at least get the second pay of 125$ for a new donor. I couldn't use the phone kiosk. It told me to contact a staff member, which I did when I walked in. They told me I had to re-register as a donor because someone broke one of my vials of blood that was drawn during my first visit. The staff member informed me the nurse was busy and would get to me in 10 minutes. I waited. 20 minutes later I was informed that they were too understaffed to do any more intakes today...at 12:00pm... with 6 hours till they close... with 2 people in the waiting room. So then I left, deleted the Grifols app off my phone, and drove an hour home. read more

These workers are pretty darn good at their jobs. Two seem a bit rough around the edges they either need new jobs or an attitude adjustment. I upgraded my review because I can see that it's a tough job and most of them do their job with the utmost professionalism. I appreciate the service and almost exact manner in which they safely perform their duties. read more

Everytime I go to donate plasma the team is always pleasant and efficient. I never have a problem when I get my needle stick. They don't have to move it around or restock. Overall this is a great place with great employees read more

It would be better if they appreciated your time. I understand that some people who donate plasma (especially at this particular facility) have all the time in the world but some of us have a job and a life and can't afford to sit in a waiting room for 4+ hours only to be rejected because your blood iron is too low and be told you have to do it all over again next time just to be rejected again. I would donate my plasma for half of what they offered if I could wait half the time. I will give it one more try and if I get rejected again after waiting hours - I will go back to donating blood at the Central Blood Bank where they appreciate and respect your time. read more

If I could give this place 0 I would. I very rarely came here to donate. The only reason I ever did was b/c a friend referred me who needed the extra cash. Personally I don't need money that badly as the environment of this facility is pretty off putting. I'd only donate maybe 3/4 times a year when they'd offer promos. I'd have to register as new the following year(s) as I wasn't a regular donor/didn't need to be. A year has gone by and I decided I'll donate again, the extra money would cool to buy dog food, or whatever since I had to splurge on new tires last minute. They still had my chart and call me back after an hour and half only to tell me I've been marked as "unreliable" because I had my ears "pierced" and never disclosed it twice since I've re-registered as a new donor. What perplexes me the most is if it was so long ago whose to say I didn't tell them and they just didn't mark it on my paperwork, which is negligence and they just don't want to take responsibility for their own mistake! Also I felt a little discriminated against because my ears were not "pierced" they were gauged which I consider to be different! So if you had body modification work done, and then removed/healed it just know this place isn't an option for you. When I was underage and I took them out years ago as a young adult(18) and unlike a piercing gauges don't close the same way and I can't even wear earrings so it's something I'm pretty self-conscious about. So it's not a current piercing and hasn't been for 10+ years. So they basically told me because I had a piercing when I was underage and "didn't tell them" which again is here-say b/c no one could recall a situation that was so minute. That makes no sense. The staff just want to have personal conversations and if they feel as though you don't mesh with the quality of people coming in the door they'll do anything to put you down,which can be considered to some degree class discrimination. I wouldn't normally post such a negative review, however to deem someone as "unreliable" who is in fact reliable on many accounts just feels like defamation of character which doesn't sit right with me. Hold yourself in to a much higher regard and don't help these people. If you have to donate go some place else. read more

This is a side by side comparison with the only other plasma center I've gone to in my life, Biolife State College. In Biolife, they have you in an out within the hour, I've had sessions that have only lasted 30 minutes. Talecris Harrisburg, they'll have you in an out at the very least two hours, some can even go up to three hours if they're "busy". I only put the busy in quotes because it's not about how many people they get, but how understaffed the establishment feels. Biolife had an assortment of staff waiting to help you, stick you, patch you up, and see you out. In Talecris, there's maybe three or four vein stickers waiting on EVERYONE, and most of them feel uninterested in their work, mainly concerned with chatting to each other instead. There are a few genuinely nice staff members there, but after the $50 for each of your first four donations promotion ended for me, I found little reason to come back. The "$20 for your first and $40 for your second" promotion just didn't feel worth the two to three hour period. At Biolife, I was okay with this because of their efficiency, but Talecris should rethink some of their strategies if they want to keep bringing in people. read more

I came in at 7:30 a.m (30 minutes after hey opened) to make sure I was one of the first New donors, after 2 hours of waiting we filled out some paperwork to authorize the donation. After about an hour after just signing paper work I still was not seen by anyone. I've been to the CSL plasma in York pa, and they make your read a binder have you listen to a video and then get your physical that takes maybe 10 minutes an then they send you back to donate. It took me maybe 3 hours at the most to get everything done the first time, but at Talecris plasma Resources they don't even have you sign any paperwork till 2 hours of your waiting. Also they only had one nurse available to do our physicals and were very understaff from what I could tell. Their staff just overall seems uninterested in getting people in and out. It really was an unnecessary amount of time waiting while the regular donors were in and out. I really would rather go to CSL Plasma in York Pa and get $20 then come back here and get $50 to waste my whole day away. Save your self some time and energy do not visit Talecris Plasma. It will take you an entire day to get a donation done and the staff does not care about how long you'll have to wait. read more

They r open on Sundays now. There pay for donations for repeat donors is one of the lowest. There r 2 people in there that r good that do the procedure. 4 of the people there that do the procedure that r horrible. There missing teeth yell at eachother in the donation room, have conversions with other techs about there personal life's. there r a few techs there that ask u questions before u donate that r professional. In all 60% of there staff should be fired. But what really makes me mad is the how much 60% of the staff does not know anything about the plasma industry. They do not give a saline IV because they say there is a shortage. That's BS I asked my family doctor about that he told that is not true. Its quit clear they r only worried about there $$. Based on there lack of knowable techs there industry low pay to donors and there management lack of appearances on there floor they really don't care about u. There plasma goes to drug company's to make meds and research. So big money is made on there part. I will not be returning there. I would rather donate it for free to PA blood bank. There your not paid but treated with respect. Come to think aboutit in my 10 donations they have never said thank you. I have even seen techs there miss veins and adjust needles in people's arms that have caused blood to pool under there skin causing hemotoma. They train people off the street. Since they r not giving saline IVs an lie about it being a shortage which is BS they should pay more money for your donation. Wait and see they will be telling u that lie about a saline shortage for a long time. The sad thing is they know the people that donate need the money and take advantage of them. What they do not tell u is the blood thinner they give u durning your donation can cause u to bleed to death if u have a accident or get a bad cut after that is never mentioned at anytime. I only recommend going there is when the offer incentives. read more
