I called and I spoke to this woman named Mallory and she was most ignorant person I've ever spoken to so I spoke to another person that I thought would be better but they were no better. I told him it was just a cash cow that they're making money off of people's hurts and can't even ask question answer questions when their dog is dying. They couldn't answer a simple question? They know how dogs die and if they go in to Sears or not and that's my question is I was wondering if she was going into a seizure.. so they gave me a website to go to and I'm like well how are they going to tell my dog is going through a seizure by a video when you can't even tell on the phone yourself? You should know you're supposed to be an animal health Tech apparently. I wouldn't trust these guys because they are all about money and they will try to get your pet in there for a visit so you pay $400 for nothing. The government should get after these people for scamming people

CLIENTS BEWARE - This is, hands-down, the WORST veterinary care I have ever seen in my 73 years. I…read moresuspected my 11-year-old male kitty was experiencing a urinary blockage. On Saturday July 6, 2024, I rushed him to this place. He was misdiagnosed upon arrival. After he finally got in, a tech came to the parking lot and confirmed my cat was blocked. I had to pay $2,550 up front before his admission. I called Saturday night and Sunday. No one was available to speak with me. Not a single vet ever called me with an update or status. I got my FIRST call from a Joanne, the "Office Manager," at 10:30 P.M. SUN NIGHT, telling me to come get my cat at 7:10 a.m. the next morning. I asked what was done, what did the path report say, where was the vet, etc. I was upset and confused. What had happened with my pet? He had just had his catheter put in 24 hours prior. I had paid $2,550, and not a single medical person had contacted me since I dropped him off the afternoon before. There was no compassion at all, NONE, from Joanne. She dismissively explained what "typically" happens with a blockage. I cut her off. I did not care about "typical." What had happened with my pet???? I wanted some answers. Her response was that I pick him up and take him to another vet. And if I wasn't there by 8 a.m., I would be charged with abandonment(!). That woman was nothing but unhelpful, short-tempered, disrespectful, and insensitive. Why is she working there? I think it is safe to say it's time for Joanne to find another job or be fired. NO MEDICAL PERSONNEL EVER CONTACTED ME. I had no idea what I was paying for. I had no definitive diagnosis; no idea what his status was, or what they had even done. I was in a state of SHOCK. The paperwork they gave me did NOT even have a diagnosis listed. The final bill was $1786, which I felt like I had just flushed down the toilet. The catheter was already removed when I arrived, even though I did not request it, and it certainly was not my wish. I then rushed my cat to Camboro Veterinary Hospital, who did an outstanding job. Dr. Acosta and Shelby, the surgical nurse, and staff treated me with the utmost empathy and respect. My cat was immediately admitted and treated. The standard of care provided was impeccable. I cannot recommend Camboro highly enough. They were wonderful. I have had numerous dogs and cats over the years, and I have NEVER, EVER experienced anything even remotely approaching the degree of unprofessionalism and disgraceful standard of care I experienced at this NW PA Pet Emergency Center, which was basically malpractice. Do NOT, under any circumstances, go here unless your pet is at death's door ... not even then unless you're going to euthanize your pet. They are the WORST I have ever seen.

Staff was patient, kind, and helpful as I was making calls to work out payment for the admit. They answered all my questions when I called overnight for updates and he was stable by morning. I was referred by a local vet to Dr. Saundra Hewitt at the West Toronto Veterinary Surgery office. I found Dr. Hewitt to be extremely friendly and showed a very genuine care and concern for my dog. She examined him, asked me all kinds of questions related to his activity level, his eating habits, etc. and then took great care in explaining to me what he was experiencing with his knee. She said that although she could correct his knee with surgery, it wasn't really necessary at this stage, especially given the uncomfortable recovery. It's so refreshing to have a surgeon really consider the dog first, rather than just say, "He needs surgery" just because it CAN be an option. The cost of surgery is always a consideration, of course, and if you aren't prepared for it, can really be an issue for some. Nobody wants to fork over thousands of dollars for something that isn't absolutely necessary, so I was really relieved to hear that my dog would be fine without surgery. In the couple of weeks since my appointment with Dr. Hewitt, my dog has recovered very nicely, from which she suggested was more than likely just a bad sprain. The knee condition was more of an underlying issue that he can live with comfortably for many more years. My dog is now back to his normal self, walking and running around like he used to.

They explained that they only have one doctor on staff till 8am so we may have wait a little. We got there at 8:35am and was greeted by the receptionist. This person had ZERO personality or compassion for our fears and concerns and we stood there for 10 minutes filling out their precious forms while our dog sat there crying. These people need some serious lessons on how to communicate and deal with people experiencing the fear and worry of a sick pet. Before we were even brought into a triage room, they made sure to charge us with the ~$255 assessment fee. We were brought into a triage room and told that the technician would be with us shortly. It was ONE HOUR AND FIFTY-FIVE MINUTES before someone finally came to check on us. "Triage" is NOT the right word for whatever that was. The technician was with us for five minutes asking questions and then she said, "The doctor will be with you shortly" and she left the room. Another 25 minutes passed before the technician returned and asked if they can bring our dog into the back so they could do their assessment. STILL NO VET. This is NOT emergency vet service. This is an understaffed walk-in vet clinic. After a 10 minute assessment, our dog was brought back into us and the vet spent 10 minutes explaining what they felt was wrong. She was very clear in the steps they recommended and VERY clear on the costs for each of those recommendations. Evan after agreeing to two prescriptions, she left to type up the summary and write the 'scripts. That was another 35 minute wait, all the while our dog is crying and whimpering in pain. Do you and your precious pet a favor and AVOID THIS PLACE. Zero personality, zero consideration for the animals, zero communication, zero compassion, zero, zero, zero. What a scam. Run. Avoid. Go elsewhere.

This past occasion was for a spay surgery but with other pets, they have gone on to save their lives! Another hospital was insistent to keep running labs for a miniature dachshund while the steroids they had put her on were causing her liver to fail. The doctors at Beattie recognized the true issue and put the dachshund on medication to flush the steroids and stop the damage. A much happier outcome than what could have happened at the other hospital. Pricing is about normal for pet hospitals but the staff are willing to work with clients to help alleviate financial concerns where they can. If your pet has an emergency or a standard treatment and you're in the Hamilton area, you might want to consider Beattie.

[Do not go to Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic (CTVRC)]…read more To fellow pet parents: Do not be misled by some positive rating. My experience reveals that this hospital selectively solicits feedback only during "smooth" visits while ignoring cases fraught with issues. I urge you to scroll through their other negative reviews; you will notice a recurring pattern in management's responses: a defensive, gaslighting tone that blames the owner to deflect from their own clinical and communication failures. I am sharing my senior cat's (12.5 years old) journey to warn you. While their surgical skills may be adequate, their post-operative "care" is a transactional nightmare. 1. Management's "Gaslighting" & Refusal of Accountability When my cat suffered a preventable post-op infection due to their vague and insufficient wound-care instructions, the response was not professional concern, but aggressive defensiveness. The manager's response (see attached screenshot) is a masterclass in "victim-blaming." Instead of addressing the lack of guidance, they attempted to weaponize my "attitude" as a concerned owner against me. It took immense pressure to receive even a reluctant apology. They would rather argue for an hour than admit a flaw in their protocol. 2. Aggressive Upselling & Disregard for Quality of Life Despite Milou's advanced age, the specialists pushed for extreme, high-revenue options like full-limb amputation and chemotherapy. They hide behind the "we must list all options" excuse, but the narrative was clearly steered toward the most expensive and aggressive procedures. It felt less like a medical consultation and more like a sales pitch that prioritized their bottom line over a senior animal's peace of mind. 3. The "Emergency" Illusion vs. Reality They claim to have constant emergency availability, but my observations in the waiting room suggest otherwise: Feb 12th: I watched the parents of a shaking dog wait for over three hours--having to eat lunch in the waiting room--only to be told to go home because the facility "lacked availability." Feb 26th: In the room closest to the lobby, I heard a male doctor loudly exclaim "Everything looks bad!" before even closing the door. This performative alarmism seems designed to instill fear and pressure parents into high-cost decisions. 4. Transactional Professionalism Their recurring response during crises was: "This is all we can do." While technically a statement, the dismissive delivery earned this 1-star review. Compared to my local vet (Juno), CTVRC's communication is heartless. They offer "free rechecks" as a funnel to pressure you into unnecessary, billable tests. To the CTVRC Management: I anticipate your canned response: "You could have brought him in for an emergency check, but you chose not to." Let me be clear: seeing how you treated that shaking dog and how you spoke to that dog parent, I knew returning would only feed your revenue stream without benefiting my cat. God and Karma see the truth. Regardless of the polished PR responses you post here, the universe knows whether you truly care for animals or just the transactions they represent. If your intentions are not as you claim, karma will eventually do the work. Summary: Save your money and your pet's dignity. My experience was purely transactional and lacked basic empathy for a senior animal. Read their responses to other 1-star reviews--the blaming the victim style tells you everything you need to know about their ethics.
